AVOID! We used to use this company and they were good, but they are just god awful now. At least twice they've given me an appt with a 4-5 hour window, and then they call at the end of the window and say they can't make it. Can they come back tomorrow? Nope, can't do that either. Our kitchen is unuseable and instead of spending the day finding a plumber I waited around for this appointment, only to have it cancelled. Absolute garbage, do not bother. I was a customer for 10 years 2-3 times a year as I have a very old house and needed drains cleared through a throw out valve. I ALWAYS was charged around 120 -130 dollars to run a snake about 70 feet to clear my tub drain and sometimes toilet. A few days ago I was quoted 148 on the same service due to a price increase which I reluctantly accepted. When the plumber showed up, he decided this was now a 210 dollar job. I was out of town so he basically pulled a bait and switch move to overcharge. Buyer beware, this company is now a scamming BS company who no longer cares for decade long relationships. Our water pressure was too high. They misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $250 then realized what the real problem was. They said it would be another $800 to fix the real problem but would knock it down to $650 because of their error. I got a reputable plumber from Pasadena who replaced the pressure regulator in under 9 minutes for $400. How disappointing. read more

We have used century rooter in the past. However this time they completely took advantage of the situation. I sent them to my rental unit for a replacement of a garbage disposal. They said they couldn't give me a quote until they saw the garbage disposal. They called me once there and gave me a quote for $560 to change a garbage disposal. I thought this sounded outrageous. I quickly called 2 other plumbers who said they would charge me $200-$250 including the parts. When I called the plumber back to tell him I don't want him to do the job- he wouldn't pick up! I called many times. Then I called their office line and they said the plumber has already started the job and I would have to pay for it. If it was $50- $100 more than the market rate, I wouldn't have been upset but $360 more is really too much. I will never be using this company again! I totally felt taken advantage of. I have used your plumbing company just about 4 times now. Up until this last service, I have been satisfied with all your work. This last service calI was on a Saturday. I knew and understood it would be overtime. When I called, I was quoted $202. He was to run a snake for 30 feet and I knew that would fix the problem. I figured for that amount of money, it was good value for coming out on a Saturday. After their plumber, Alex, snaked my pipe, he said he would fix toilet bowl wax gadget while he here, as if not a big deal. I agreed, thinking gaskets are inexpensive, he probably had the part in his truck, its not more than a 1/2 hour job and he offered - it shouldnt be a big fix. To my surprise, when I received the invoice, I realized he wasn't being helpful, he had upsold me!! I was charged $225 just for the gasket fix. The way he presented it to me didn't seem like a big deal. For that amount of money, I could of fixed myself. My fault for not asking how much. Alex and Century Rooter's fault for not being upfront and sharing cost before service. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. I called Century Rooter afterwards to inquire about gasket service and hourly rate. She said they don't have any hourly rate and really didn't seem to care that I had a issue with their invoice. I was very disappointed with the way it was handled. Not sure where the "empathy and understanding" touted on your Yelp site was at. I felt I was taken advantage of and as mentioned above, felt upsold. Coming from a family owned retail business to another small owned business, what ever happen to customer service and how can we make it right. Please take this as a BUYER BEWARE. Had a drain get clogged and needed a simple snake. Called around and got the run around from a couple other places. Actually scheduled another plumber but he was a no show. Tried again with century rooter and they were very responsive, scheduled an appointment the same day and the plumber came promptly on time. He completed the task quickly and with very cordial manners, which, believe it or not, is not that common amongst the plumbers I've used in the past. Shocking I know...but yeah try these guys out if you've got a clog or similar related plumbing issue. Pricing was reasonable and service was excellent. I'm going to put them in my list of go to plumbers if I need one again. You should too instead of wasting your valuable time waiting around for the other guys. You approached the clog from every angle at least twice and correctly diagnosed the problem in the design of the new bathroom's waste line. Only because our home has been sold, did we decline to make the proper repairs and just used a chemical treatment to unclog the line, which worked this time. These guys are great, look no further. We have had another company clean out our main sewer line on the regular for 15 years due to tree roots. I finally cut the tree down, it was finally time to get the sewer line fixed before a new tree took root. I got estimates from multiple companies to have the sewer line lined or replaced. James came out and ran the camera down the pipe to see what the extent of the job was going to be; he was very personable and knowledgable. He showed me details that would make the job more or less expensive on the little view screen, and explained everything that would happen thoroughly. We went with their estimate, even though it was not the lowest, because they were so much more communicative and calmly competent than anyone else. In the end, our project was easier to complete than they expected, and they gave us a discount because of it. And we got a thumb drive video of our sewer pipe for our records. Mack went above and beyond what I had ever could've hoped for and the bill I was handed was right at the quoted price. Over a year ago, my roommates had called a radio plumber and that price quote was a heart attack rate. The Century Rooter price was not only fair but Mack explained it all knowing I knew nothing about plumbing without trying to use smoke and mirrors. My roommate is a magician and I can spot these sorts of things miles away. Anyhow, the leak in the shower was extremely problematic and after a few hours, Mack had completed the job and there's no more leak. I hired them to fix a leak in a condo that was damaging the neighbors garage. They determined it was the toilet seal. However they never confirmed and I had to hire a restoration company to fix the joint leak in the pipe that was actually the problem. Had Carlos come out to give me a bid on installing 3 new toilets. 2 were upstairs and 1 downstairs. I knew it would be pricey as this was the first toilet replacement since my house was built in 1968. Ashley from century rooter got back to me a few days later with Carlos's "out the door" price. Let's just say, it was very very fair. Considering he needed to bring a helper, I requested the 3 toilets be ADA approved since I wanted them higher, plus labor, plus the toilet seats, plus tax and plus haul away. When Carlos was done, all 3 toilets were installed neatly, working perfectly, the caulking around the bases was clean and he and his partner left each bathroom clean and neat. Although I can't recommend other plumbers from Century Rooter, only because I don't know their work, I can highly recommend Carlos and his assistant that day from Century Rooter. A company is only as good as its employees no matter how much it spends on advertising. I have no qualms about using Century Rooter in the future, nor do I have any problem recommending them to my family and friends. Additionally, I'm giving Century Rooter 4 stars only because I don't believe in 0 or 5 stars. read more

A few years ago we had Century Rooter Service & Plumbing replace an existing sump pump in our backyard along with new PVC piping. The plumber who did the work incorrectly pitched all the pipes causing water to flow back into the sump pump. He also cut through an existing pipe exposing a hot wire which was connected to an outlet that served as the electrical to the sump pump. This is without a doubt the best bunch of people I've ever used in my home. We had a main sewer back up that is nasty if you haven't experienced it. I called and within a couple of hours they had one of the nicest and most professional plumbers knocking at my door. He was gentlemanly, properly masked and extremely knowledgeable. Apparently, the blockage either cleared itself prior to his arrival or perhaps was created by something transient. Michael could have snaked the pipes and charged me for a superficial "repair," but he explained how the drainage worked and told me exactly what it would take to actually clean out the main sewer line. He literally walked around the property to determine whether we had main sewer line access, which we don't. Neither he, nor I can tell exactly which direction the sewer runs from our home, but after running the water from an upstairs shower for a long time, I was satisfied that whatever had caused the back up, had cleared. I asked what the charge would be and Michael said, "we'll just let it slide since we didn't do anything." What? You have to be kidding me! A plumber comes to your home and honestly tells you that the problem cleared itself and then doesn't charge you? I wanna tell you, this is exactly the type of company you want to do business with. They are all terrific people, from the moment you call their office to the time a knowledgeable plumbing technician walks out of your home. Here's the bottom line. I found a plumbing company that is quick, honest, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. By the way, with Covid-19 floating around, Michael came in with a mask on and did everything in his power to maintain social distancing.
