We switched from comcast to centurylink and it was a terrible choice. They gave us a modem router that doesn't work to give us wifi signal all over our house and when we reported this to them a week into our service they blamed us! we didn't have this problem with comcast. don't bother calling them to report your problems because you just wait on hold for them to be rude and not help solve your issue. read more

18 months ago, our CenturyLink landline would only make outgoing calls. Incoming calls gave a short ring then stopped. Person calling would hear ringing then a fast busy. Contacting CenturyLink via internet or via phone is the most time consuming frustrating experience anyone could have. On the phone, you have to go through their mechanical chatbot who states, "anytime you want to speak to a representaive, just say 'representative'." Guess what? You can say 'representative until you are blue in the face but you ain't gonna get one right away. Why, you may ask? Well Mr. Dildoe, the Chatbot will state he nedds more information. If you are lucky, he won't start over, but most likely he will. If you ever do get to a human, they will apologize over and over for "any inconvenience" you are having. Then, they will schedule a repair person to come to your property and tell you a long list of things that are required. Answer yes to this and the nice human will give you a repair date. AT THIS POINT, ASK FOR A REPAIR TICKET NUMBER!!! I state this because twice, I was not given a number, and as the repair date nears, I check online to be sure they are coming on the assigned date and there is no repair order in their system. So, call them again, or chat online and you get to got through Mr. Dildoe the chatbot again. This time you will bew given a repair ticket number and a date of repair at least a week from whatever day you are chatting. Now this wouldn't be so bloody bad, EXCEPT the day before our scheduled repair, the cancel it and put it out ANOTHER 8 freaking days. So, it will be around four weeks before they fix our landline. This will be the fourth time in 18 months and twice in the last month with the same problem!! So, CenturyLink, here is a one-star review for your sorry a$$ landline service. I've been using them for about 3 years. Modem dies once about every 3 to 4 months for at least a day. During a recent move where they were the only option and I was supposed to transfer the service, they canceled my appointment without saying anything and then rescheduled it for over a week later. Today is the 25th. I'm moving out of my apt in 5 days. My bill is due on the 24th. I asked for a few days extension, they wouldn't give it to me. Then I asked if I could pay partial since I'm moving in 5 days. Again, no. I have to pay for the whole month, then request a refund. Ok fine! Paid $75 on the 24th. No internet service anyway. They said the systems were down. The 25th comes, still no internet. Now they don't know why the modem isn't connecting and the back office has to fix it and it could take up to 48 hrs!!! So then I said just cancel my service and refund my payment since I'm not able to get internet access at all, they said they will request it but no guarantee I get my payment back and it could take 30 days. Too bad there isn't a ZERO. CenturyLink has been nothing but problems from the get-go (4 plus years). 1. Calling them is a nightmare--wasted hours sitting on the phone waiting to speak to a representative. 2. It took almost 2 years of calling and finally well-written letters to get my name and information on the billing instead of my daughter's (who set it up for me). To get any help, my name had to be on the bill, so until I got it in my name, I couldn't get help without my daughter calling first (ridiculous). 3. I put in for "stop service" when I moved and the service was never stopped (their error) and I am paying for 2 months (I don't have the time or energy to fight with them--I work) when I no longer lived there or had service. 4. They have no record of my returned modem almost two months after I returned it in their box via UPS, so now we have to go back to UPS to get the tracking number to prove we returned it. 5. "Representatives" often ignore questions they don't want to answer, like "Is there any faster way to get to a billing representative than sitting on the phone for up to 90 minutes?" DISGUSTING company!! You might ask why I didn't change providers--I lived in a rural area and at the time there were only 2 main providers and the other one has issues as well, though I doubt if they are this comprehensive. read more

terrible organization. avoid using them if you have any other choice. If you have a problem of any kind you won't be able to talk to. human, at least not without hours on hold with multiple hangups. There was a construction accident on our road that cut their cable. Dozens of us have been without landlines or internet since. Unlike the power company that repairs such things quickly, they are saying it will be several weeks before they can address the problem. Many of us have called in, sometimes multiple times and on each occasion they have no record of there being a problem in our area. in some cases they have no record of our previous report of our problem. I had a guaranteed monthly charge, I setup my bank billpay to send the amount well in advance of the due date. Then I got a notice saying I owed them hundreds of dollars in back fees. After hours of struggling to talk to a human I finally reached someone who said there was a late payment fee that compounded over time. I asked when exactly that was and she wouldn't tell me. I told her I have bank statement proving so made all the payments on time. She said she would fix the problem. Next month I got an email claiming I owed the extra amount again. More hours to reach a human. same result. Finally on the third exasperating try they fixed the "accounting error". read more

We have lost Wifi connection for over two months now, have been 'given' four appointments to have a serviceman come out to the house, and we have had FOUR NO SHOWS. Poor customer service and multiple outages. We have two different locations and have had issues at both locations. The techs are always late. They are outsourcing the repair group as the installers are too busy. On my latest issue, the service at my house was cut for over eight days with no tracking of when the next tech will be coming. I have spent multiple hours on hold as the chat is of no help. The delay of repairs is ridiculous. How can you use this service for work from home? I had tech come out late Saturday(6:30 for a 11-2 time window.) Only to tell me I had no signal at the house and he needed another tech to repair at the connection point. He told me he was going to schedule the secondary repair. There are no notes on the APP. We had to call today, I keep getting a run around by customer service. My internet is still not up as of 2 PM. Not a great way to start fiber service. I haven't even had the service a month. read more

So much stinky customer service. The employees on the phone are cranky, disinterested and treat you like a number. They never bother to learn your name and often dump you back into a phone tree. It can take over an hour to sort out anything with their customer service. The speed was HALF of what was advertised based on speed tests. HALF. Still charges you the full amount of course! When you cancel, they refuse to ship you a box, or pick up the equipment. So you have to PAY to ship their own equipment back to them! No pick up or drop off options AND they charge you for the entire time it takes to ship it back!!! Fun! They ship you fault equipment then CHARGE YOU to return it! If you don't return it, they CHARGE YOU EVEN MORE!! This is a company that works hard to capture your business, but once they have it, they dump you to cranky/cruel customer service agents and a maze of bureaucracy and fees. Supported to be setup 5 days ago and everyday I call they say it's scheduled for tomorrow. Horrible experience--Technician installed modem and supposedly connected service but internet not functional after leaving. Then received appointment notification for a follow-up appointment several days later without any context or information about why internet was not working or what would be done at the second appointment. I had to take work off for a second day to be available for this appointment (only provide time range of 8am to 5pm). I called CenturyLink several times but no one could provide information about what this appointment was for. At the end of that day, no technician had arrived--I called CenturyLink again and was told that the appointment was for internet activation and I actually had not needed to be present at the property that day. After activation date, internet still was not active. After contacting customer service, a third technician appointment was scheduled for several days later. I took off work for a third day to be available for this appointment. Late in the afternoon that day, the technician notified me that he was 30 minutes away and several minutes later we received a notification from CenturyLink that the appointment would have to be rescheduled because the technician was overtime for that day. A repeat appointment could not be scheduled for several days. At this point, I decided to cancel services as I had taken off several days of work, paid over $350 for installation/modem, and waited over a week and still did not have functioning internet. Throughout this process, communication was terrible from CenturyLink and it was very difficult to get ahold of anyone with usable information on the status of our internet set-up. I am still waiting for full reimbursement of the costs paid for installation, modem, and service that was never received. I was able to find a local internet service provider (direct wireless internet) who connected internet service the next day and has been readily available to answer questions at a cost similar to what CenturyLink was charging. read more

Their internal departments didn't communicate with each other and the customer service rep couldn't provide any information (or only have outdated information) about what's going on. That's inconvenient. The worst is they don't honor their promotion offerings. I signed up when they promoted "price for life". But 2 years in, they increased the price. When I asked them why. They had the audacity to tell me that I was not on their "price for life" promotion. What a cheater. Sadly I don't have another fiber option for broadband right now. As soon as another one is available, I will jump. Or as soon as the one who plays game in the household is out, I will switch to tmobile 5G. It's good enough for me. I have been stuck with centurylink as the only issue on my area for years. I pay for 2 lines of internet supposed to be 50mbps each. I recieve at max 7 per line but usually run at 4-5. It's only enough to stream on 1 device per line and it's not fast about it. My net is currently out, it has been 90% down for over 2 weeks now. The customer support is a fucking joke. Talk to a bot for an hour to get an overseas representative who will only follow the same protocol steps they have for last 20 years. It's not a network specialist or anyone with any training. It's a turn modem off and on, ohh it's not working? Let's sell you a new modem because yours must be broken. Yeah both modems on both lines always break together as centurylink shows no problems on their end. It's a fucking joke, I've had the same technician for them for years at multiple home locations. He's told me multiple times, it's all centurylink equiptment. It's dated and they have 0 intention on ever upgrading or repairing. The only thing centurylink manages, is to keep charging. Full price for shit service that falls 5x shorter than what they advertise and 0 compensation for your 100% gaurenteed outage time. Everything about this company is a joke. I need Valium and blood pressure medicine after dealing with the worthless Century Link online help system! A branch fell on our line on Nov 19 during a big storm causing the internet to go out. When we identified the problem on Nov 21, we contacted Century Link for repair. The earliest they could come was Dec 2, 11 days after we notified them. On Dec 2, I waited around all day, finally getting a message at 4:30 PM that the appointment had been "missed." When I contacted them they said that just meant that the repair person ran out of time and would come the next day. Got a message in the morning that they were going to come on Dec. 4. At 3:00 PM on Dec 4 a contracted (not Century Link employee) repair person came and said he needed information from Century Link before he could repair it. He left and we got a message saying the repair had been completed and asking how our service was working. It's NOT!!! The wire is still down. When I contacted them via chat the tech said they needed to send the CABLE repair person on Dec 12, 21 days after we notified them that the wire was down. We are canceling the service ASAP. Truly, horrible and frustrating. I can't believe they are still in business if this is how they help customers. read more

Fraudulent Charges on my account ! I moved into a large apartment complex last year and signed up for century link over the phone. When I moved out of my apartment, I discovered that I had two accounts in my name. One of the accounts had the address of my unit and the other had the address of the entire building! I called customer service and explained the situation. Clearly, the second account was made in error. After several hours on the phone, they eventually agreed to remove the charge. However, 6 months later I get a letter from collections that I owe $500. This is borderline fraud. read more

A few weeks ago I arranged to have Century Link install high speed internet at a family home in Cannon Beach, OR. Sales people guaranteed that the service would be perfect for watching movies and TV over the internet. Service was installed on a Friday afternoon. It worked great that night but by the next morning worked off/on and by the afternoon off. I called customer service and was told they only work 9-6, Monday- Friday and to consult the internet for help. THE INTERNET DIDN'T WORK!! Now they want me to pay my bill. I called customer service, talked to a nice person who said I needed to talk to a supervisor, put me on hold - then hung up on me. Don't work with this company. First: CenturyLink migrated to Quantum Fiber, and I never received an email. Once I got my internet fixed, via the customer service agent; I was told that there was an equipment error. When I requested information on it, I was jerked around by the company; and only found out what was happening from a connect source, not the company itself. read more

Service worked well sometimes. The worst part of Centurylink is customer service. I finally changed my interned service and canceled Centurylink. Fortunately I was smart enough not to set them on auto pay from a credit card. Today I received a bill for $63. After 20 minutes I finally spoke to a person who said the bill sent at the end of the service period rather than the beginning. So, I owe them $45, the other $18 was a late fee. Its been two months after ordering service and they missed 3 separate install appointments and its been 2 months and still no internet.

This review is for the REPAIR SUPPORT process. I use CRL for business internet and phone. When its working, its great. When it goes down, the process for service is enough to make you insane. Currently, my service is down. I have been given service dates of: first 5 days out, then 7 days out, then SAME DAY, and when that didn't happen and I contacted them again, was told the tech had 2 appts prior to me. Then, when I contact for an update my ticket has me back to a WEEK OUT. For my business, where EVERYTHING is dependent upon internet this is not acceptable. Add to this the circle that their phone puts you in to attempt to reach a real person...and the useless chat "feature"...not pleasant. Reading other reviews I may or may not jump ship over to Comcast. I think I read somewhere that they have a dedicated small business team...enticing. read more
