We…read moresought professional caregiving services, and in interviewing agencies over the phone, we were clear and direct about the services required. A significant, and common, part of her hospice care would entail administering meds, and we inquired about this directly over the phone. We were assured that this was a service that Home Instead provided, and we moved forward with scheduling an in-home assessment. At the appointment, the service professional said that they, in fact, do not administer meds. I would have hoped that an agency that provides care during such vulnerable times would be direct and sensitive in answering questions related to caregiving before moving forward with services. The misleading information presented to us over the phone has resulted in wasted time and further delays in securing care for my grandmother. I sincerely hope that this review is considered and practices are refined to better inform potential clients, holding more respect and awareness of the stress, time, and emotional energy required to secure care at end of life. This could have been avoided had our direct questions over the phone been answered accurately. The unnecessary time spent at the at home assessment would have been better used enjoying the precious moments remaining with my grandmother.

After my surgery, this company provided some of the worst service I've experienced…read more An RN contacted me around 3:30 PM saying he needed to come for a visit. I explained that I would be available around 6-6:30 PM, and he said he could not come after that. When patients already wait weeks for appointments, expecting someone to suddenly be available within a very short notice window is unacceptable. The next day was Sunday. I understood when they explained they normally do not provide service on Sundays, and I was told someone would come Monday instead. After some back and forth and several unsuccessful calls, I received a message saying someone else from the office would come because the original RN was busy. I texted them around 8 AM and waited all day without any updates. Nobody contacted me again. After following up multiple times myself, they finally called to say they had nobody available to come. I explained how serious the situation was and how scared and stressed I was because I had just gone through surgery and still had not received any visit or proper care. Instead of helping, they kept delaying and giving excuses like "give us another hour." Later they even tried blaming me, claiming I had canceled the original appointment, which was completely false. I asked for a supervisor to contact me because at that point I honestly did not know what else to do. Nobody ever called back. In the end, I had to drive myself in my post-surgery condition just to find care somewhere else. No patient recovering from surgery should be left feeling abandoned and forced into that situation. This may be acceptable in some industries, but not in healthcare where patients are recovering from surgery and depending on proper care. I truly hope neither they nor their own family members ever have to experience this kind of treatment while recovering from surgery.
