Lost my big account, have already reviewed. BUT I'll kill 2 birds here. I ended up bringing my entire door from a 1972 Toyota Landcruiser into him because it had no brakes at that time and was garaged. I had called ahead weeks prior, he did not have a blank for something this old. I searched high and low and found some out of Switzerland, bought a few extra and gave him a few too. By only using a very small stamped # on the Toyota lock, he was able to cut the key by using a library he has. He cut it right the first time, and it worked like butter, I was SOOO impressed. Recently with my boy needing some house keys, I patiently waited for him, knowing he closed at 5 on a Friday, I couldn't make it. I went back on Saturday morning, he was closed, the "hours of operation" sign was blank on Saturdays and closed on Sunday. No biggie, figured that was on purpose to allow for a day off on occasion. Yes, I could have went to a big box store, but I wanted keys that worked. I couldn't make it to his place again on Monday. Came in on Tuesday 30min before close, got my keys cut, had some color sleeves to identify the keys for sale which was great. Keys ended up working like BUTTA as always. He's worth the wait, and that's why I held out for him. I've used John and his wife for 25yrs since I moved to West Sac, every key, whether it's automotive, or anything else, has worked like Butta! Had to come here since the lowes rekeying guy is high maintenance and couldn't give me the time of day to rekey my door handle lock I bought from Lowe's. The lady that helped me was super nice and rekeyed it in like 5 min. I should have gone to them for rekeying. Although I could've had it done free at another lowes. The kiosk guy made a key that did not work. So then I went to reputable locksmith in Sacto and was told the key was not made evenly and could never work. I went back to the kiosk guy and he said he did not have to fix it or refund it as it was made from a copy. After my first visit many many years ago, I quite getting keys cut at box stores, they don't work! They have helped me out so many times. I had a key to a Jimmy that was in horrible condition, had to jiggle it for about a minute to get ignition to turn. He told me over time, the key shortened, cut me a new key, perfect!!! My Trailblazer, my key would stick every once in a while. He cut a new one, tested it, made an adjustment, and got my ignition working like butter! He's done this to all my cars, even took it upon himself to use lock lubricant in my ignition and key holes. Next up, I'm bringing him my door from a 1972 FJ40, see if he can help me get a key that was lost 20yrs ago. Pay more money and get it done correctly the 1st time!!! read more

Skip the Home Depot lines! This little gem is located in the West Sac Raley's parking lot. I walked right up and the gentleman was super nice and helpful; he even offered some friendly conversation. I asked how much and how long it would take to make a duplicate of my house key and he said, "2.99 plus tax and 2 seconds." SOLD! Not only did this guy deliver exceptional customer service, but he also shared that he's been with this business for 40 years. A pleasant gent. I went to open my shop this morning only to realize my deadbolt was spinning. Called John at 10:00 am and he was at the property at 11:00. First, I made the mistake of going to Nissan Dealership firto get new auto key made. They charged me $47.95 for a cut key and they were going to charge me $129.00 to program it. Stopped with dealership there. Went to John at West Sac/Downtown locksmith. More professional demeanor and faster service than dealership. Charged me $87.99 plus tax to do everything, both cut and program key. As I already paid $47.95 plus tax at dealer, my net savings was only $40. If I had the foresight to choose WestSac/Downtown Locksmith to begin with, my savings would have been $100!! read more

Always get great service here. I live local and would rather go here then fight Home Depot or Lowes where I can never seem to find anyone to help me. I went to get a new keep made that has an alarm on it, bit only because a piece of the plastic was broke. He could have charged me $300 but instead recommended a small neoprene holder for the key so I could attach it back into me keyring. I doubt that would have happened at Lowes...in W.
