I have never been to a tailor in my life but I have several pairs of jeans that I love and I want to do some minor upgrades. So, as always, I turned to Yelp to help me find a local CV tailor. There are two particular tailor shops both on third avenue that came up first and with great reviews. Angelo's and Shiamaki were both on my list to stop by and get a quote on my pants. A few days ago, I stuffed by backpack with three pairs of jeans and a black pair of slacks that belong to a suit and hopped on my bike. To make it short, Angelo's wanted to charge me $7 to stitch up a 2 inch long opening right by the crotch area. Cesar Ramos did it for $3! Angelo's wanted to charge me $9 to hem the bottom of my jeans. CR is doing it for $7! Don't even get me started with Shiamiki, they wanted $12 for the hemming. I'm sure these two places do a fine job but if you want better customer service and cheaper prices, then visit Mr. Cesar Ramos on third avenue and E street. It's between Farmer's Insurance and Chicos Bakery. Mr. Ramos explained to me that he charges less than any other tailor on third avenue because hes had his clients for over twenty five years and he always has work so there's no need to overcharge. Next time, skip your tailor and give this man a try, you wont regret it. read more

First time I've ever been told not to bring my business back!!! I brought 2 pairs of Jeans in to get tailored. I brought in measurement and I even brought in another pair that had already been tailored. When I came in and tried them on he had taken them in a lot more than I asked. I even checked the measurements and he was way off. He was mad and flustered that I insisted he correct it. Thankfully he had left material inside to open them up but it did leave the stitch marks. I brought in two suit pants; One that fit me way too large and for the life of me don't know why I wore it to prom years ago, and the other was a fitted suit pant from express. The express pants were beginning to fade, and the prom pants were a fancy material, so I wanted to make the most out of them and imitate the style of the express pants. I told the older of the gentleman working of what I wanted, he had me try them on, did measurements, then told me it would take a week. I come back a week later, and my prom pants could not look any better. He also shortened the express pants me. One major alteration, and one minor one, both jobs for a total of $29. I'm not sure of the other different jobs he has done, but if you need your pants redone, this is the place to go. read more

Apparently his business is doing very well. I walked in, and he was alone, working on some pants. I asked about getting some alterations on a costume jumpsuit. He took a quick look at what I wanted, and then waved me away "I'm too busy to do this. Go across the street!" I didn't go across the street. Instead I said "goodbye". I went to my regular dry cleaners because at least they know me as a customer. I showed the seamstress what I wanted, and she seemed to be happy to help. read more

I have been trying to get my pants for 4 days now and every time I come in they are closed even during their open hours. I came 30 minutes after opening and no one answers the phone, I came later on in the day and it's still closed. The phone does not work. If you need a reliable place to take your clothes I would not come here. When I dropped off my pants initially I was told that he was too busy and doesn't have time but then changed his mind. Today was my first time here and LAST! As I entered the tailor shop Mr Ramos was present and looked away instead of greeting me with a smile, or a hello, or even how may I help you. I found that to be odd but proceeded on by sitting down and waiting patiently as he assisted a gentleman that was exiting the dressing room for a pants alteration. Finally he asked what did I need done with an attitude. He then asked is it a dress? I attempted to remove my items from my bag and before I could even get them out he began shaking his head and telling me he could not do the job! I had two off the shoulder blouses that needed an elastic replacement and a long tube top shirt that needed to be shortened. He never saw the items and told me he could not do the job and immediately started to refer me to 2 different shops on the same block which were Antonio's and Selma which was directly across the street. I thought.... how rude! The sign on his window clearly said women and men alterations yet you cannot do any type of work for me! I am wondering was it a racial thing or a gender thing being that I am an African American woman. Whatever the reason it was very unprofessional! I will be sending other friends and family to this tailor shop to investigate the problem. My brother is an attorney and he loves these kind of people/businesses. In closing I let Mr Ramos know that I will be doing a Yelp review as I took a business card. I walked across the street to Selma's and was greeted with a hello and great customer service! I had previously written a review giving it 5 stars for getting my husband's jacket fixed and a dress of mine shorten. But I recently went back to this tailor to get a dress fixed and he gave me a really bad attitude from the start and was going to turn me away but then he said he would do it. My dress needed some fabric removed from the top as well as some straps to be shortened. He took about a week or slightly over to have my dress done and when I came to pick it up I was so extremely disappointed at such a poor job he had done. I mean the extra fabric that was to be removed he left it lop sided. Half looks good and half looks loose since it STILL has extra fabric. Then the straps...lets just say he didn't do a professional job on the straps. I could of done what he did. He simply folded and sewed it in place with out removing any fabric. So even though its folded you can totally see the folds from the other side. What really made me mad was when he saw i was unhappy he said, "No one else would charge you so cheap for what i did!" umm i rather pay a few extra bucks and get a job done well than have my dress ruined. Long story short, ladies if you need to get dresses fixed take them else where. I will try to post pictures. read more

Señor Ramos is a very hard working man and has my upmost respect. I needed some patches sown on my dad's work uniforms and needed them same-day and while the SORRY, RUDE lady across the street waved me away with her finger- this gentleman took the time to see what I needed and helped me right away. Not only that, he did not charge me an extra fee for same day service- and it was ready in one hour. The prices were also Extremely reasonable- way less than I expected. Great man runs this place. The only place I take any of my cloths. He's helped me out with suit I've to small on accident, pants that fit too big, and even with turning some regular shirts that are loose around the belly into some well fitted dress shirts. read more

I dont usually write reviews unless theres something extra good or extra bad. Unfortunately this time its extra bad. I've taken my things here 3 different times and each time hes been fairly rude, didnt listen very well and performed work that was acceptable but far from excellent. Nevertheless I continued to take my things there because I wanted to support a small local business, and he kind of made me laugh with his rude dismissive behavior. He reminded me a little of my sometimes cranky old grandfather and I figured as long as he did the work I would be okay with it. But this last time was a little too much. I took my pants in to have the hem lengthened and he said he had too much work and it would take him too much time and that I need to go somewhere else. At first I laughed thinking he was joking but he was dead serious. On top of that he was just rude and for someone running a business obviously he doesn't care about his customers. So I hope he does well but he'll never get my business again. read more

There's no way to give Zero stars so I guess I will have to go with one. I am writing This review while parked in front of Cesar Ramos tailor shop. I checked the time and the store hours and open days prior to making the trek across town because I did not want to arrive with my needed work to find the store closed. I arrived at 10:02, the store hours posted are from 10 to 6 on the day I arrived, when they are supposed to be open. It is now 10:23 and I am still sitting in front of the closed store. I called the number listed and of course, there is no answer so it's hard for me to rate Mr. Ramos with anything less than a zero since I can't even get into the shop to get my work done. Unfortunately, the severity of my situation lends that I need a tailor today. My zipper broke on my uniform and I need it replaced ASAP in order to go to work today. I sure hope that Mr. Ramos shows up soon. I will update and change my review if he shows up. read more
