I needed to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed for a wedding in less than 5 days (after my original accommodations fell through) and thankfully the (all women) tailors kindly accepted my business, no problem at all. I had called ahead and asked and they just asked me to bring my dress and shoes I'd wear with it. When I arrived, they had me try on the dress and heels, trimmed it to the length I liked, and then they wrote me a receipt to return on the day of pick up we agreed to. You have the choice to pay then or on pick up day. I wasn't able to pick it up that day/time which was no problem either, just make sure you notify them someone else will be picking it up. Overall, a great experience for it being my first time and all the ladies there were lovely and knew their craft well. My dress turned out perfect! read more

For some reason I always need a good tailor. My wife says I am getting fat! I say she is shrinking my clothes in the wash. I used to take all of my tailor needs to another guy on Broadway in Chula Vista except he either died or retired and his kids took over and really screwed things up. So I started coming here. So far so good. I always wait until the third or fourth visit to review anyone. But honestly this guy is pretty good and stitches professionally and inexpensively. I am picky about this stuff because I know that if given the time I could probably do it myself. His hours are weird but I blame the pandemic on that. I have been bringing clothes here for a few months now and I have mixed feelings about this place. First and foremost, they do good work; I will not hide that fact. Though their prices are very bloated, you could always err on the side they do pretty nice work for men and women. The reason that i'm giving one star and most may disagree with me, is the attention to the customer, mannerism and overall customer experience. They definitely don't have any pride in their locale, you would think from the prices they charge they could make the business more appealing, rather than drab faded paint, ceiling coming undone and rather musty smell, seems the place hasn't been updated or cleaned in decades. That part is to just bring awareness, on another note there are two workers there, one young and an older gentlemen that is mostly in the back; the younger-ish gentlemen has the disposition of a turnip, no customer skills whatsoever, very dry and dismissive...and by the way; seems to have an issue with portly people, and you can tell it very clearly by his dirigen, hence my rating. Does this merit one star? Absolutely! Regardless of quality, this is based on the overall experience with this business. If you want a tailor that barley speaks two words to you and demonstrates that even that is an effort, then charges you 2-3 times more than the guy down the street...then this is your place. read more

Went in to have my suit tailored. Service was ok. They were able to have it ready in the time frame I needed-so that's good. What I needed done was: Sleeves, Underarm let out, and pants. I was told and given a receipt for payment upon pickup: Sleeves $25 Underarm $20 Pants $8 Total $53 When I arrived to pick up suit I tried it on and it looked good. Guy did a good job. When I went to pay he started going on about how he did more than he usually does to make sure the underarm wasn't too tight. To me, that would have been the staple on excellent service. I was a first time customer and that definitely would have brought me back again... But at the end, right before I paid, he's snuck in an additional $15 because he "did a little more." At least he had the curtesy to say "$15 more if you agree." I was going to tip the tailor anyway and didn't want to seem.. ungrateful? Idk, but to me that's not good business practice especially if they already priced everything out before hand. I'm a business man myself and always make sure to go above and beyond with everyone of my transactions WITHOUT charging more. That's what keeps customers coming back. Honestly thought he was telling me how he "did a bit more" because he took pride in his work. Turns out it was just to throw in an extra $15. I took several pairs of pants to Angelo's to be hemmed. I had very high expectations of this place after reading all the 5 star reviews on Yelp. First off, the price was very affordable. I paid $9 per pant. The turn around isn't that bad. It took about 3 to 4 days to get them done. After picking up my pants, I noticed that one of my pants hems didn't look perfect. It had a couple of thread loops sticking out. Also, I had an issue with one of the lengths of the pants he hemmed. Angelo told me he can fix it but I would have to pay again for the alteration. A lot of other places would fix it without paying again... But I guess not Angelo's. I was a little disappointed. Angelo's Tailor is an affordable tailor. If your looking for affordable alterations this is the place for you... But if you want quality work, go somewhere else. read more

I've been going to them for almost 8 years. Family owned. The two I almost always see there are soft spoken and kind. There are two changing rooms where you try on your items then step out for them to measure the work to be done. I mostly have my pants hemmed or dresses/skirts shortened. They've done everything from denim, to cotton sweatpants and slacks to formal dresses with heading. Always well done, on time and reasonably price. I pay when I pick up! It's in downtown Chula Vista so the street parking can be a bit tricky but I've never circled more than twice to find street metered parking. read more

Angelo's Tailor treated me absolutely rude even though I've been a returning customer for over 2 years. After Angelo Sr. tailored a jacket, I politely asked for the jacket to be shortened a little bit more in order to make it fit better. "Can I get this a little be shorter?" He snapped back at me, saying "no," and walked away in the store. It was the end of the day and I understand that everyone is a little bit stressed after working all day, but this was uncalled for. I already pre-paid in cash. The jacket was supposed to be for volunteer work at the church down the street from Angelo's Tailor. He asked me for more money to fix the problem, which now totaled over $50 to have the problem fixed. I told him about my work and he still didn't care. I spoke with his son and tried to have our problems solved. I asked him if he thought this was good work and the son agreed that it was in fact bad, but there's nothing he could do because it's his dad. I asked the son to re-consider, but the son said that his dad was in charge. I told him that I've been coming here for years, but the son still wouldn't budge. After recommending this place for over 2 years to all of my friends and relatives, I will no longer recommend for it. Angelo's Tailor does not care about customer loyalty or customer service. I recommend paying in ATM/Credit Card if you can. If you're treated unfairly, you can always call the credit card company and tell them about the unfair treatment and possibly prevent payment from going through. Some terrible businesses have a cash-only policy to prevent customers from complaining about their business through their credit card company by possibly canceling payment on the card's transactions. You'll have to talk with a customer service rep, but if you have a lawful claim, they will possibly cancel the transaction. If you must go to Angelo's Tailor, I recommend paying with a card to protect yourself if your experience is terrible at Angelo's Tailor. read more

I picked up my bridesmaids dress today and it had a coffee stain on it. When I asked about the stain they told me it was already there. The dress came from my closet to their shop. It was never been worn. I have never eaten in it. And most importantly, I don't even drink coffee! I was incredibly angry but they refused to acknowledge they stained it. They told me to take it to a dry cleaners. When I told them they should pay for they dry cleaners bill they refused. Offered me a $5 discount from my bill. I will never come here again. read more

I feel bad leaving a 2-star review because a majority of my experiences have been positive. I've been coming to Angelo's for the last few years to have dresses adjusted, pants shortened, and belt loops on jeans fixed. Today, I went in to pick up some pants my husband had dropped off when picking up his repaired jeans. They were pants I had just taken in last month to get shortened, and after wearing them a few times, one of the hems came loose and the pants started dragging on the ground. When I picked them up, the older gentleman (who I believe is the owner) was going to charge me $3. I didn't think I should have to pay for this type of an issue, but I went ahead and handed him my credit card and did not argue since we have been going pretty frequently lately. Well, he made a remark that it was only $3 and that I should pay in cash. That upset me, so I told him I didn't think I should have to pay for a problem that resulted from poor stitching on the store's end. He then said he wouldn't charge me, but that I should have told him that from the beginning. Well, shouldn't he have notated that on the yellow pick-up slip he gave me? Not a good experience, and despite the mostly good ones I have had in the past, I will not be returning here. It's too bad these independent mom and pop shops that are being pushed out by more flashy establishments on Third Avenue don't try to do a better job to retain their business. read more

The younger gentleman fitted my new suit jacket incorrectly. I called and returned to the store within the month. I brought the original ticket with me. The older gentleman refitted me to correct the mistake. I was charged the same amount of money that I paid for the initial alteration. The older gentleman knew what he was doing especially after I gave him the original ticket and the charge. The older gentleman could have charged an adjustment fee but he charged me the same price as when I initially visited the store. Tell a friend that you approve of a business, and the friend will tell ten people. Tell a friend that you disapprove of a business or its practices and they will tell ten people. Came in with my brother and mom after pick up hours (6:30pm) and forgot the paper to pick up and try on my brothers suit, and they treated us horrible. I understand we came in late, but we have been there before only once and didnt remember the hours and almost screamed at us that we have to come in before 5 to pick up the suit. We asked him if there was anything we could do since my brother was the one who had to pick up his suit and he has been working past those times but he just replied no. We could have been good with any explanation "unfortunately we dont have someone that can taylor the suit" or anything . My brother got out of work early and we came the next day, tried on the suit, made adjustments and left. Never coming here again. (Plus , theres no AC and its super hot!) read more

Wonderful shop. I chose it because it was very close to home. I brought 2 uniform pants to be hemmed. There are 2 changing rooms, and he hems the pants based on how long you desire them to be. I dont know why this place has good reviews, he said he would have my work shirt at a certain time and he didnt, I was late to work because of that. I had paid in advace, yet, when I get there he was having lunch when my shirt was supposed to be ready. On top of that he gave me attitude, when i mentioned i would be late to work he shruged meaning he didnt care. I went to Angelo's after reading yelp review... and honestly it was a great place until my last time there...After having a couple of pairs of jeans and suit pants taken care of. I went in for another pair nothing out of the ordinary, asides from it being thanksgiving week, and he was a little busy. but he said he could get them done at the same great price of 9 dollars. Then I go to pay with my card, and he tells me I need a 15 dollar min...I was extremely unhappy about this since I don't carry cash and all the other times it was fine, he goes on to say he was giving me a break those times... I also hated how he never seemed to give me his opion. I mean he does this work for a living, I want to know what he things best as far as length or break in the pants, I had another customer tell me a more dramatic break would look best, he stayed quiet the whole time, and the customer was perfectly right. I she hadn't come in those pants would never have been as good. After being there 4 or 5 times you would think he would keep the same deal that he was giving me but nope he wont do it. So Ive taken my business else where and I found somewhere a dollar cheaper and that has a 24 hour turn around for 2 dollars extra per alteration. Which is amazing if your in a hurry, and they are also open more days a week then he is. Sorry Angelo but you should take better care of your customers. read more
