    Barrio Norteño

Saturday evening dinner with my mom was amazing in this Peruvian spot. It was empty and quiet, we wondered what this experience would be like and stepped in to finally see what I have been seeing on IG. The customer service and attention given was top notch. He put on some Peruvian music on the screen as we waiting to enjoy really tasty anticucho with his deliciously Peruvian Ají the heat and flavor was all there. It was the perfect start. We had chicha morada to cool down the heat. Our drive there was for some type of Peruvian soup and we found it. We had the Chupe de Barrio Arequipeño and the Barrio Norteño rice. When enjoying the meal we wondered why we had not been here before, as what came out this kitchen was so delicious and truly authentic to our Peruvian flavors. We ended our meal with desert and the two options we selected was La Crema Voltiada and my mom had the Mouse de Maracuya. WOW! Please go support this business if you're looking for some amazing delicious Peruvian food, not fusion, not fancy just well prepared food.

Fried fish, ceviche, grilled octopus, grilled shrimp, seafood fried rice and fried plantains.

Patricio was AMAZING! He was a one man show! Our foods were delicious. I can't remember the name of this dish. It has whole fried fish, different types of ceviche, grilled shrimp, grilled octopus, seafood fried rice and 2 patties of fried plantain. The best fried fish I've ever had.

We drove by this place and saw the Peruvian flag. We weren't sure what it was because it is a very small location next to a check cashing store. The parking was very limited however we were able to snag a spot right in front due to the check, cashing store being closed. Once inside, we noticed the cute decor, cleanliness of the restaurant and friendly environment. We proceeded to place our orders and I was pleased to know that they had Inola in a diet version. We ordered an appetizer which is potatoes in a cream pepper sauce and what I especially liked about this is the potatoes come out warm. Some places serve this dish with cold potatoes and I do not like that. I was glad that this place served them warm! Next, we placed our main course order I was definitely divided amongst several choices. I decided to go with the stirfry steak that has tomato onions, beef steak tips. It also came with a side of sweet plantains rice and a fried egg on top my husband ordered a typical dish from Peru, which is a braised beef that is served with an onion lemon salad, white rice and white canary type beans. For dessert we did purchase an aloe which is two sugar cookies sandwiched in between a Dulce de Leche type filling. I'm excited to return and check out more of their dishes since it appears that everything is pretty authentic. I also noticed on the walls that there was several awards and when we asked the server about it, he said it was for the head chef.

Food is pricey Lomo Salgado was very. Salty. Anticuchos not cooked enough. I'm sorry to say that it was my last time.

This was an awesome find near our hotel. The staff explained the different types of dishes, provided recommendations, and helped guide our decisions. The food was delicious and filling. Would highly recommended for anyone in the area.

Craved ceviche and came here. Got the leche de Tigre fish and shrimp with barely any seafood in it. Ordered tostones that came out as hard a rock. Got a papa huancaina with 3 shrimp if that, for $20+ and also got the lomo saltado which was a lunch portion at a dinner price. Food was ok. Not what I was expecting for the price. Food took a long time to come out. Left unsatisfied. La granja would have been a better choice. Cannot recommend. Lunch came out to $85 for 2 not worth it.

As this restaurant is close to Drive Pink stadium and I have season tickets to Inter Miami, this is my go to for pre game meal. I am of Peruvian descent so I know a little bit about how things should taste. We started with conchitas a la parmesana, basically scallops in shell with toasted parmesan cheese on top. Then I had a ceviche mixto and a risotto lomo saltado. For desert I ordered a flan and it was very good. Also they serve the Pisco sour cocktail and it was on point. My second Pisco drink was made with passion fruit, maracuya. Finally to wake me up a double espresso. I like to see how the bathroom is in a restaurant, I think it can tell you something about the business, so I put some pictures of that, it is quite clean. I will have to go there a few more times before I give the 5 stars. I went again September 20, 2023. In any good Peruvian restaurant they will have cancha (Cancha, a popular snack in Peru and Ecuador, is made with a special type of large-kerneled corn called maíz chulpe or maíz cancha chulpe. The dried kernels are tossed with oil and toasted in a hot skillet until they are browned and puffed. A simple sprinkling of salt and the cancha is ready to eat.) on the table when you sit down, always complementary. I love chicha morada, a purple corn drink and this one is definitely made in house, excellent. To start I ordered the Papa a la Huancaina, nice presentation and tasted very good. I finished the chicha morada and asked for a simple limeade, definitely just squeezed. My main dish was the Peruvian style Arroz con Pollo. Very tasty and huge portion. Again when I went to use the bathroom I took a couple of pictures of how it looked. No complaints, very clean. Well I am still at 4 stars, I think with one more good experience I will bump it up a star!:). Buen provecho!

We're still on the hunt for the best fried catfish in the Hallandale Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and…read moreMiami area, and after searching online, we decided to give Catfish Dewey's a try. If you're driving a larger truck, be aware that parking is available but pretty tight. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the host, who was incredibly friendly and escorted us to our table. Our waitress was just as wonderful--attentive, personable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. There was music playing everyone there was enjoying themselves. Since it was Tuesday, we both ordered the all-you-can-eat fried catfish special for $21.99. They start you off with hush puppies and coleslaw, and when your meal arrives, you get your choice of a side. We both chose the fries. The portions were generous, with plenty of crispy fried catfish on the plate. The fish itself had great flavor, was perfectly crispy, and wasn't over-breaded. The hush puppies were delicious, and the French fries were cooked just right. My husband, who considers himself a bit of a coleslaw connoisseur, really enjoyed the coleslaw. I wasn't as impressed with it, but that's just my personal preference. My biggest disappointment was the tartar sauce. For a restaurant that's been around as long as Catfish Dewey's, I expected a homemade tartar sauce. Instead, it came in a pre-packaged container and tasted overwhelmingly of onion. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. If I were rating everything individually, I'd give the catfish a 7/10, the hush puppies an 8/10, the fries an 8/10, the coleslaw a 5/10, and the tartar sauce a 0/10. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, especially the friendly service and the crispy catfish. While it wasn't the best fried catfish we've had, it was still a good meal. As I always say, don't let my opinion make your decision. Everyone's taste is different, so go try it for yourself and form your own opinion. You might love it!

The restaurant was and bustling with customers coming in to eat consistently! It wasn't too loud so we could hear each other at the table. Although they were busy, we didn't have to wait too long for our food! Our server, Phillip, who truly looks like Ryan Gosling was PHENOMENAL!!! He was on top of EVERYTHING and had the best personality and demeanor!!! The fish & shrimp and sweet tea were AMAZING; however, the sides need a little bit more work but were edible. For the appetizers, we ordered the mango wings, honey garlic shrimp, and for our entree split the Caribbean grilled grouper with pigeon peas and rice and sweet plantains. I appreciated the unique flavor combinations and the creativity of the menu, but overall the dishes were underwhelming and lacked the seasoning I was hoping for. Everything was cooked well, but nothing really stood out enough to make me want to order it again. The service was excellent but the atmosphere seemed to cater to an older crowd.
