If you're just catching on to the boba milk tea trend that's been around forever in Asian places, this is the place to look "cool" with the other people who don't know what they're drinking. OVERPRICED boba milk tea that tastes average. (No I'm not cheap, you clearly haven't had delicious boba milk tea that is worth paying for.) Also the boba was not cooked properly, soft outside, weird mushy hardness on the inside. Butter brick toast was not very good. Only warm when it came to our table, with no flavor and also over baked. Really hard and not soft on the inside like it should be! Good thing my little bro got Yogurland next door because we put the fruit and froyo on top of it to make it more appetizing. They do give a cute tea spoon if that's any consolation. Won't be coming back here. Go to Yogurtland next door, or other milk tea places in Cerritos if you're craving it. read more

Normally I would get milk tea with bobba, but this time I tried the tea without bobba. Down below is my review from before, here is an update: The staff has changed and some of the girls here are just RUDE. They talk crap about the customers and whisper about them, seems like they are miserable working. I asked for them to fix my drink and she rolled her eyes and was so rude about it. I'm PAYING YOU, I AM GIVING YOU BUSINESS. DON'T, just no. The drinks are the only reason I continue coming here and because my school is next door, other than that I wouldn't go in with the rude workers. Omg! I love this place. I go to school pretty close by so I love coming here before my long classes. The taro milk tea tastes heavenly unlike most places. The mango green tea drink is also really good and the almond milk tea (hot or cold) is bomb. I'm upset they moved the melon slush, but it gave me an opportunity to try other things on the menu. This review is based on 3.5 stars. A great little place to come in between classes or on a weekend to catch up with old friends or a nice after date place. I like the many different types of teas this place offers, but like to stay traditional with my old favorites like almond milk tea and taro milk tea. This place is a small number of small tables inside and a few black metal wire tables outside. I like some of the entrees they have here like the basil chicken and curry chicken. I also like the thick toast snacks like the sweet butter. It is really sweet but pretty buttery. Service for drinks is pretty fast but sometimes it's a longer than anticipated wait for food, depending on the times I've been here. Pricing on here is a little more expensive then places like Tapioca Express, so I try not to come here too often. But overall, I always have a good experience here. read more

Oh Man! This is the SPOT- Very friendly staff. I've only been there twice and staff remembered and complimented me when I came back the second time. Yes, they will adjust your drink if you need. I personally think the Mango Green Tea is great, but comes "as is" too sweet IMHO. place is small, in a strip mall with a Grocery store. Parking doesnt seem to be an issue really. My BF just discovered this place near CSULB which is great because I've been looking for my go-to milk tea place ever since I moved to LB. My first experience here was better than my second. I ordered the Jasmine tea with pearls and my BF got something else (I don't remember what). The pearls, although kind of small, were perfectly sweet and chewy. Not watery and mushy at all. The second time, I got the same drink again which was just fine, but we also ordered soup and chicken. The chicken order was kind of small, but had good flavor. The soup was practically tasteless, but the grilled chicken inside was delicious. None of the chicken deliciousness transferred over to the soup so it just tasted like I was drinking hot water with some salt and pepper and noodles in it. Cabbage is also tasteless but there's a lot of it so you feel bad if you don't eat it all. Lastly, it was a really busy Friday night and the staff decided to mop the floor. It didn't look like anything spilled, maybe it was just routine maintenance, but the smell of bleach and soap was SO heavy, and trying to eat dinner while smelling that strong scent of bleach isn't exactly my cup of tea. I would recommend that the staff clean when there aren't so many people in the venue. read more

I graduated from CSULB almost 3 years ago, and Cha for Tea was one of the few places accessible to me that had boba and some variation of Asian food. Came back here a week ago to go to the Yogurtland next door. The bf wanted boba, so, as the fatasses we were, we shared a large mocha freeze with boba (they only have the regular size). The drink itself wasn't too bad. The large was pretty large, and maybe at 20 ounces? Price-wise, the drink had come out to around $5.50, they charged an extra $0.50 because I used my credit card, and then I left a dollar for tip, so the grand total of the drink was around $7. Ouch. May be back if we're in the center. Too many students just sitting their asses down and "studying", though, so it's more of a take the order to go versus trying to battle the young uns for a seat. read more

It's usually always crowded because it's next to CSULB. It's ok. Price is about the same as other boba stores. The popular drink is pretty sweet but you can get it 1/2 sugar. The other drinks it may not be adjusted...just depends. Never tried the food, only the drinks. If you want to study, I wouldn't suggest it, the tables are small and as I said it's pretty crowded. I don't think they have free wifi either. Double check tho..I don't usually stay long enough to want to use free wifi. If you pay with cash it's a bit cheaper than with a card. I think they take off 5% or something if you pay with cash than with card. Parking is free with plenty of spots around. read more

Cha for Tea is kind of my guilty pleasure, which dates back to my time attending CSULB. My go-to: Mango Green Tea and the Curry Chicken with noodles. I'll admit, it's usually crowded because it is close to campus, but that doesn't bother me. It's fun for a casual date and I don't think it's too terrible expensive. It's a good causal place to meet up with friends for a bite to eat- and there are vegetarian options for your friends that don't eat meat which is great! They haven't changed their prices on tea, at least not significantly, this whole time. So basically what I'm saying is, the rest of the planet has caught up with them, price-wise, so they're really not even overpriced anymore, and still just as good. I order from this place regularly even though there's another boba spot 5 mins away from me but that spot likes giving out stale hard boba. When we moved to LB, one of the selling points was we would be closer to CHA FOR TEA. There are only two locations that I know of currently - this one in LB and another one in Irvine. It is both amazing and horrible that we live so close to this place as I tend to be there more often than not spending lots of money I shouldnt be. Cha is the standard by which we measure all other boba tea places and to be honest, not one has exceeded this place. A few have come close, but Cha is still our favorite. My standing order is a Honey Green Milk Tea with boba at level 2 (half sugar). For those of you who do not like green tea though, I wouldnt suggest going to half sugar as you can really taste the green tea then (which I personally happen to love). My husband usually goes with Taro or Almond Milk Tea - both very popular at Cha. I love the ability to adjust the sugar levels in all the drinks. Also, if you taste it there and you want it adjusted - they are always happy to "fix" the drink to your liking. I've never left dissatisfied with my drink. We have had a few food items here - the crispy chicken and dumplings with sweet/sour sauce are good, but not foodie standouts by any means. I hate how a lot of boba shops close at 11 in my area. I am so thankful that Cha closes past midnight. Cha for Tea is the only boba shops out here that I can never get mad at. Popcorn chicken is always on point, teas are brewed and strong, boba is warm and fresh, and the drinks are never too bland. Sweet levels can be altered and if they don't offer, always ask for half sweet for those tea or blended drinks. Milk tea sweet levels can be altered too, but I like it the way it is. Cha for tea has so many varieties of drinks and food. It is great for late night snacks, especially for those students who live nearby-- study snacks. I don't recommend coming here to study like other boba shops. This place gets loud and a lot of students are here to chit chat. Ive been through it and seen it all. Extremely rude staff. Mediocre food, their popcorn chicken is okay, but not good enough for me to come back after my last experience. Their online ordering system messed up and didn't process the sauces I chose for the popcorn chicken as it is stated that you get one free sauce per order. The cashier didn't believe me and insisted I pay twenty cents for the sauce. For a while, this was the only boba place near CSULB along with China Star. Despite that, it's still amazing! I always go here if I want a quick snack - popcorn chicken! Yay - or a really good drink. The drinks are quite expensive and my drain your wallet at around 5 bucks but it's well worth it if you'd like to splurge on a good drink! The almond milk black tea is always the best option! If its too sweet you could always water it down with the free water they have at the counter. I also like their passion fruit tea - it's super fragrant and delicious! I've tried many of the entrees there and the best one in my opinion is the basil chicken. If you don't like basil, this isn't the dish for you - go for their crispy chicken or something else. I also like their fried tofu if you want a vegetarian dish! Their chicken curry is not that flavourful but will fill you up. I prefer to get something else though. They put too much onions in it as well as use French fries for their starch component. Overall, this place is enjoyable and great for lunch or dinner. We recently had a drive-by baby sprinkle and we decided to serve our guests crispy chicken appetizers because it was one of the main things I've been craving during this pregnancy! Calvin, Alfie, and their team were so helpful and communicative throughout the whole process - offering suggestions of what catering options to order so we could get the most bang for our buck. On pick-up day, they gave us a courtesy call to let us know everything was ready, and another call a few hours later just to ensure everything was to our liking. Our guests LOVED it - didn't realize a lot of people weren't familiar with Cha's food items, only boba! And of course we had a few friends who knew right off the bat that we were serving Cha's crispy chicken - theirs is simply the best. We've tried other taiwanese chicken from other tea houses over the years, and all were just very bland or not crispy enough in comparison.
