I spent 2 days here and although I didn't see any roaches or bed bugs it was awful. the lady at the front desk is a BITCH like so insanely rude the worst attitude she actually YELLED at me. mind you i'm not even 20 yet and shes yelling at someone who's half her age. she charged me a $100 deposit for each night which is weird so I paid $300 for the rooms and then $200 for the deposit JUST for me to not get half the deposit back. ive called her and she speaks to me like im an idiot saying things like "what dont you understand" and yelling at me. I paid the deposit on two different cards. it was on hold. after I checked out and a couple days I got $100 back onto one card. then a week went by and no deposit, I called a couple times and she said oh yeah im sorry ill send it now, ANOTHER WEEK and no deposit and so I called again and told her you charged me $200 and she had the nerve to yell at me and tell me they dont do that and she never did that so I started yelling at her back because who tf Is she to tell ME SHE DIDNT CHARGE MEEEEE $200. after I started yelling she was like ok let me check she checked and immediately started apologizing because she realized she did charge me and said she was gon finally send it back. WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. I called yesterday and she was yelling at me again and I finally just had to contact my bank and I was refunded my money. she was awful. the hotel is awful and I do NOT recommend it at all. even if it's cheaper its not worth the money. This was the perfect place for an overnight stay following a concert at the Uptown Theatre in Napa last night. It's clean and well maintained, though definitely pretty basic. The name suggests a charming inn, but what it is is a motel. The outside is nicely painted an attractive rusty red w/ dark navy blue trim and the plantings are attractive and well maintained. The room was spacious, w/ a king size bed, a desk and chair, an easy chair, an armoire and a little kitchenette plus the bathroom. Surprisingly, there was no Internet access. As it happened, we didn't bring our traveling laptop for such a quick trip, but we couldn't have used it even if we'd brought it. The bed was comfortably firm and we slept well. Happily we didn't have the bed bug experience Jim M. did a week ago and fortunately we didn't read his review before staying here, although being highly suggestible, I feel itchy since reading his review. It was convenient to downtown Napa and we'd probably stay here again rather than at a B&B as we have in the past. read more

Crap customer service doesn't even begin to describe our experience with the owners/operators of this not-quite-in-the-heart-of-Napa-not-really joint. I booked my best man here and come October 2012, I checked him in and signed what the woman said was just a confirmation that I'd already paid (which I had done so in advance in June). This wasn't another charge, just a confirmation. But charge, they did. I emailed the duplicate transaction and the original reservation to the owner. When I called to try an resolve the issue with them as a courtesy before referring this to my financial institution, the owner said that I was a liar and a thief. He hung up on me. Later, when I tried calling back, the woman at the front desk answered and told me the owner wasn't in. I called back again, and he answered but said, he'd refer me to the manager, who appeared to be the same woman. She said she'd have the owner call me back. No call. Eventually, I called and told the woman that I would be referring the issue to my bank. She, of course, called me a thief and a liar. It must have been about the time that the letters from the bank arrived that guy decided to give me a ring. A chat. A ticky-talk. Whatever. He first started off with an apology. Very nice, thank you. He said that there was a change in their reservations system and the ownership of the Inn sometime between June of 2012 and October of 2012. I can't remember. I don't care. He acknowledged that they had been having some trouble sorting out reservation payments and some people had been doubly charged. I told him that the "old" system made you pay for your nights up front regardless. This is common among places in Napa, I told him. It would have seemed to me that everyone that booked under the "old" system would have been charged. At this point, spit was spat, and he began yelling that how did he know that I paid. I told him that I sent him the duplicate charges. I told him that he only has record of one stay of two nights, for which I paid twice, and I quoted him the nightly rate. It was as simple as that. We argued back and forth for a bit, the minituiae of which isn't important. In the end, he agreed to 'wire [me] the money' if I agreed to drop my case with the bank against him. I told him no. I would only drop the case with the bank if I received the money from him, period. At this point he began screaming, calling me a thief and a robber. He'd seen '[my] type before'. "You come in and you take money! You get this money from me, and you make the bank take money from me. You're a thief!" I told him that he'd have adequate providence of his payment if he were to pay me. I was the one that had originally done him the courtesy of trying to resolve this matter without involving any other institutions, since clearly, this was an operator error. Or we could just let the bank do its work. Then he began screaming at me that he demanded that I take '[My] other reviews on Tripadvisor down' before he'd think about giving [me my] money back. I told him, "Look, I'm not even on Tripadvisor." "Yes you are!" he yelled. "You reviewed me! You take that down! It's hurting my business! I'm just trying to run a business and then thieves like you come and try to take my money and then talk bad about me!" I told him, "I'm not on Tripadvisor. Maybe I'm not the only one with the same problem with you. Maybe you need to go sort it out with whoever that is, because I looked, and I'm not the only one having the same issue here." In the end, I let the bank deal with it. But if you're going to pursue this matter through that venue, be sure to have the bank place the burden of proof on the establishment, because some of those guys can be kind of lazy (BofA). I'm all about supporting small businesses, which is why I opted to put my best friend/man up in this small, quaintish, not-really-in-the-heart-of-Napa-or-Yountville-for-that-matter "inn". But someone that calls you to apologize in one breath and then scream at you that you're a thief, for something that's admittedly their own fault (then continue to call you often for several weeks afterward, just wanting to chat), is not what I call the small business community that I'd prefer to do business with ever, if I can help it, so long as my nipples-via-meathooks depended on it. Oh, and when the water in your vending machine is out, pretty fucking please, refill it. This is wine country, and people tend to need a touch of hydration now and then. read more

Incompetence makes me angry but incompetence coupled with rudeness? Boy Chablis Inn, you better watch out. I sent half of my wedding guests to stay here (yes, I gave them a lot of business too) and my husband booked a room online for the best man , paying IN FULL for TWO NIGHTS. Fast forward to when we get our bank statement indicating that we were CHARGED TWICE. Once at the time of booking and again at the time of check out. We called Chablis Inn several times and they were completely uncooperative to the point of avoiding our calls. When a man I was speaking to passed the phone off to a lady, she simply told me that it shows in their records that they only billed us for two nights. As I explained about the bank stating that the payment was authorized twice on their end, she cut me off, indicating that this was my problem and of no concern to them. I sent her an email with a screenshot of the bank records with the dates and charges by Chablis Inn on our card, clearly indicating that they charged us twice. Since she was so adamant in saying that on their end, they only received one payment from us for just the two nights, I asked her "Can you email me this fact so that I have something in writing to show the bank?". She, of course, refused. No help, no concern, and no accountability for a mistake on their end. I guess once they have your money, everything else can go down the toilet. So I am guessing that this hotel used to be a Super 8 and was bought by a private party, got a new coat of paint, new carpets and linens. The basic construction of the place sucks. Things aren't screwed down properly, plugs are loose, drains are poorly designed, gaps under the door, etc. When we arrived, we were given the handicapped accessible room (not sure why) so it had all of the crazy handrails in the shower and around the toilet as well as a shower seat. The bars were incredibly annoying when taking a shower because it restricted you to about 1/3 of the shower size as normal. The toilet paper holder was falling out of the wall by the way. The first night the one overhead lightbulb went out and luckily the fornt desk staff was very helpful in replacing it immediately. That night we noticed a lot of noise being transmitted from outside into the room. I looked down and could see a 2 inch gap between the bottom of the door and the door sill. I could even stick my hand completely under the door. I will give them credit that the room was very clean and the maid staff did a great job of straightening up every night. One of the worst parts of the stay was the sound transmission from the room above us. I could hear every footstep that they made, I could hear some of their conversions and I could definitely hear their multiple intimate encounters. (the beds squeak too). On one night I was up until 3am waiting for them to go to sleep. All in all, not a fun place to stay. Its 'relatively' inexpensive for the area but the amenities were a joke. When the best thing you can say about a motel is that it was cheap, there's something wrong. We were given a room, unpacked our car and hauled stuff across the parking lot. The room was still being cleaned. Are you kidding me? B went back to the front desk, they told us we were wrong, then the front desk lady proceeded to go yell at the woman cleaning the room. Um, it's her fault? And btw, this little white girl isn't so white and understood everything you said. The bathroom was awful. Half of the tiles were cracked and I stubbed my toe pretty badly on them. The faucet dripped. There weren't any blackout shades - just cheap blinds. It's napa, we're all hungover and need to sleep it off. Not here. You get sunlight at early o'clock as well as serious traffic noise 24/7. (This comes from a girl who once lived alongside highway 101 near San Francisco airport!) Spend more and stay at a decent place. I think we would have been better at motel 6 next door. Or splurge and stay at the marriot. It's worth it. Oh, wifi didnt work at all. :( read more

Great location. Since it's not in the 'heart' of Napa and it's also not 'downtown Napa' this place was quite a deal. The rooms were bigger than we were expecting and while they aren't top of the line, we didn't spend much time in our room (therefore, we didn't need the 36' flatscreen, minibar, etc). The staff was great, we were close to everything and even within walking distance of many great little restaurants. The Chablis Inn is a quick 5-7 min drive to 'downtown' and right off the HWY that takes you through the Napa Vineyards. Would I return/recommend The Chablis Inn: Yes. read more

Purchased a Groupon for two night stay, bottle of wine, and wine tasting for two for $119! Great deal! The wine tasting was at Hill Family Estate. You get four free tastings. Chablis Inn is a quite hotel, super friendly staff. The room is very spacious and the bathroom is huge. Minutes away from shopping centers and downtown. FREE wifi and coffee, plus there is a refrigerator and microwave that works great! The only problem that we had was the noise that came from upstairs, so I definitely recommend a room upstairs, and for that I took one star off. I would recommend staying here if you are on a budget, not a bad place at all. I would stay here again! read more

I am pleasantly surprised. I am at the Chablis. This little place is on an off street & inexpensive...I thought the rooms would be like a motel 6. NOT! I'm in a queen room. It is as big as the hotel rooms at Union Square in SF. Has an armoir, desk, microwave, little fridge, nice bathroom with faux marble counter. A nice touch is the fluffy towels that match the counter top & shower curtains in the BR. I'm not sure what a couple of the reviews were talking about when they said no internet. Obviously, there is. (I'm in my room posting this). Great price for being in the Napa Valley & it's close to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Starbucks & not that far from downtown (Perhaps a 5-7 minute drive). OK, so this is long overdue. I came up to Napa to propose to my girlfriend. I didn't know much about Napa so I called the front desk and got a super nice gal who directed me to Jeff. Jeff gave me some amazing advice on things to do and where to eat. I gotta say that without Jeff it wouldn't have been the trip we wanted it to be. A humble hotel, looks more like a nicer motel on the outside... but after staying twice at the nearby Marriott Hotel & Spa in Napa, this is definitely a much more reasonable choice; Overall a better value than most hotels in the area; they charge around $149 per night + tax, while most other hotels in Napa are (way) above $179 + tax. They have a small but decent pool and a whirlpool hot tub. PROS: the deal includes complementary coffee, tea and Nestle hot chocolate. The King Size rooms also have a Jacuzzi bath-tub; overall really clean; a newer carpet, no heavy smell; comfortable beds / bedding (definitely not top notch- but acceptable). CONS: we noticed some of the Jacuzzi tubs needs repair (the drains looked bad, with some kind of calcium residue that usually looks a lot worse than it actually is). One signifficant disappointment: the total lack of any web access option (no wireless, no ethernet, no tv-internet, no nothing...). The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I called the front desk to let them know that we just arrived to our room after attending a show to find a massive cockroach on the floor. Mind you we checked into our hotel room at 1130pm. She states that the hotel does not have cockroaches but people do. And people bring them to her hotel. I inquired what she would like me to do with the roach and she said put it outside. She was the rudest customer service person I have ever encountered. $279 a night to sleep with roaches!!!! My issues was the shower head felt like it was spitting water at you their was ok pressure and I tried changing the settings and it would not make a difference. The rooms are clean. We had a little toilet problem but that was taken care of quickly (we ended up switching rooms). There is plenty of parking (you can literally park in front of your room so you can keep an eye on your car from your window if you wanted to). Big plus since I tend to always have leftovers on vacation -- all rooms have a mini fridge and some have microwaves (the first room had one; the second one didn't). As the other reviews suggest, Chablis is not a cute inn, not a bed and breakfast, and not the Ritz. It's a converted motel. Compared to other motels in other cities, though, it's pretty good. The rooms are nice and clean, and my bathroom was huge. Also, there's a pool and hot tub, so you can peacefully unwind underneath a giant illuminated "Chablis Inn" sign. The rooms have refrigerators and TVs. The hotel gives AAA discounts. I got a two-queen room on a weekend night for $99 (including tax), so I really have nothing to complain about. Also a plus: the guy working the front desk turned on the hot tub for me and my friends, he brought us fresh towels on his own initiative, and he let us stay in the hot tub after its official closing time. This isn't an exquisite, top of the line, marble shower hotel but it deserves all 5 stars because: -The price was very reasonable and in the Napa region, that is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find -The room was clean & cute, you can tell renovations were made to upgrade the place and they worked! -It is pet friendly, I should say, pet Super Friendly, if you leave your pet in your room while you gallivant around, they request permission to bring him/her into their office with them so it has company and doesn't disturb the other hotel guests. Do not go! Rooms are freezing with single pane windows. Only one very light weight blanket in the room. The heater is so loud it sounded like a garbage truck was right next to us. Their customer service is non existent. Over priced and not worth the stay. When we asked for a refund we were rudely told... NO. We don't check into our resort til Monday, so I started looking for a hotel and came across this place, the front desk was very helpful and went out of her way to help me. I can't have a room upstairs due to a disability and there is no elevator so she put me in a larger room ,down stairs ,which was really nice frig,microwave, sink coffeemaker and a very large king size bed. I went to bed with a smile on. If you need a room while in Napa stop by or even book it. Disaster of an operation. Worse than incompetent: they are stonewalling crooks. Made a booking, canceled it a few hours later after reading the disastrous reviews. Called the hotel the next day to confirm the cancellation and was told they never received the cancellation request and now it was too late to cancel because it was within 72 hours of the check-in date. My initial cancellation request was definitely more than 72 hours before the check-in date and I had email confirmation to show it. The person I spoke to on the phone from Chablis had no interest in helping me. Would not let me speak to a supervisor nor tell me when a supervisor would be there or how to contact them. Called another time and spoke to someone who claimed to be the supervisor and told me they had no record of the cancellation, that there was no way I would receive a refund, and they refused the documentation I offered showing the cancellation request. Ended up having to go through the booking agency multiple times to dispute the charges. Almost opened a dispute with my bank but thankfully after a saga of phone calls the hotel yielded to pressure from the booking agency and refunded part of the booking. read more

When my husband and I got here the place seemed nice and clean. We walked into our room and it was huge we loved it. The pool was nice but we were scolded for jumping in. Not a big deal. The location is great. The 2 stars are because once the sun went down the roaches came out. Let's just say we paid for a room to sleep where we didn't sleep. This place was pretty good, better than I was expecting for the price. It's perfect if you have a car, since it's about a 15 minute drive away from downtown Yountville. The room was clean, and the bathroom has a large tub with jacuzzi jets, which I used a few times (biking around Napa all day is exhausting!). The outdoor pool and hot tub were unfortunately down due to earthquake damage while we were there. I would have liked to use those, but maybe next time. The location was also much better than I had expected. Across the street was a small shopping plaza, which included a pizza place, a little burger place, a dry-cleaners, a Starbucks (thank goodness!) and small natural foods grocery store called Vallerga (basically like a small Whole Foods- it was great!). I was able to walk over and get coffee every morning, and we grabbed some good food from Vallerga and had deliciously unhealthy burgers from the little burger joint. read more

The Chablis Inn did a perfect job of providing what we needed, which was a place to rest our head at a reasonable price. We were only staying in Napa one night while on our way to Sonoma, so we didn't really need a lot of amenities that we were not going to use. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The A/C worked well, and the water pressure in the shower was decent. The gentleman at the front desk was nice and helpful, and the property was in a good spot, with easy access to some restaurants and shops either within walking distance or just a very short drive away. The one drawback to the stay was the location of our room. Our flight was delayed 2 hours, so by time we checked in that evening there wasn't really anything that could be done about it as the hotel was full. We were in room 101, which is about 20 yards from a very busy road. Additionally, it is right by the stairs to the second floor, so between road noise along with people coming and going it could be a bit noisy at times. Also, curtains in the room in addition to the blinds would make a world of difference in keeping the room dark at night. Even with that being said, we would stay at the Chablis Inn again if only passing through for the night again. We would just want to avoid room 101 if at all possible. read more

I'm all about setting my expectations when it comes to hotels so I always base my choices on reviews. Luckily, I read many reviews on Chablis Inn so I knew this was a motel and that there were thin walls so I was prepared with ear plugs. We had a King room that was actually much larger than I expected. Contrary to others' experiences, there was a tv, mini refrigerator, and iron/ironing board. The room was clean and definitely met our needs. Since this motel is located on Solano Avenue there is a lot of street noise from this main street. So my recommendation would be to request a top floor room that is further away from the street. Or, bring ear plugs like I did because they drowned out the street noise and I slept fine. This place is definitely not the nicest hotel in Napa but you can't beat the price! If you want to have a fun weekend in Napa and would prefer to spend your money on food and wine than your accomodations, this is the place for you! read more

Pros: staff is really friendly, hotel rooms are clean and comfortable, there is a fridge and coffee maker, close to Hwy 29 (but you can't hear it from the rooms), reasonably priced (under $200/night on a Summer weekend) and it's also close to Target, Trader Joe's, and a bunch of places to eat. Cons: Kind of out of the way (no where near those cute downtown areas Napa Valley is known for), whirlpool king rooms are not worth the extra cost (it's just a regular sized tub with jets in it), and it just doesn't have all of those little extras you may get spoiled with at other places.
