This boutique hotel was so nice. We stayed in a bungalow room off the pool. Super cute. Amenities were on point. Expresso maker, tea pot, nice glassware, carafe of water were great. Room decor was very nice and modern. Bedding, towels, and robes luxurious. Shower with rain head and hand sprayer so nice. Lighted mirror and lighted makeup mirror was a nice touch. We had a private sitting area outside our room that we loved. Staff was friendly and walked us to our room. Restaurant was delish. Had paella and scallops was delish and just as good, if not better than Girl and the Fig across the street. Very walkable. Several tasting rooms walkable. Plaza right across the street. We were lucky to see the night farmers market with live bands, street food, and vendors. Loved our stay. Would highly recommend.

I've dined here a few times over the last few years and it has always been a lovely experience. Last night was no exception. Went there with a gaggle of gal pals to have a bite then walk through the lovely holidays lights in the Sonoma Square. Our waitress was very attentive (sorry I didn't get her name). We had a variety of appetizers and entrees - everyone liked what they had. Sorry I only took a photo of my carpaccio. They also have large lovely patio for nice weather dining. Highly recommended.

Avocado toast, hard-boiled egg and mixed greens. Perfection! This set the standard for avocado toast!

Whoa, ho, hooo!! What an expected fabulous experience this morning! We ordered huevos rancheros, two eggs, chorizo patties, potatoes and greens, and avocado toast. We were so pleased with each item ordered! I just got to talk about the avocado toast. It wasn't simply slight avocado. It was like the best gourmet avocado I've ever had! I didn't know avocado could be dolled up this well! And then it was like on brioche bread. And the mixed greens?!?! Truly incredible!! Waiter was wonderful, staff was friendly and appropriately attentive, customer seemed pleased, and they allowed us to take a walk around to see the entire dining area and the outdoor garden area in the back. We look forward to returning in two weeks with business associates. We already told them we want to have our meeting at this place!

El Dorado Hotel is a solid option if you're looking to stay in downtown Sonoma. Populated with a nice variety of restaurants, wineries and shops all located along the square or a block off, it's a nice way to spend a day or two. EDG has a pool, 2 free bikes to use, the beds are wonderful, con: the rooms are super small. We went on a recent staycation mid week and got a still pretty high rate on Orbitz. We chose this spot mainly because with a baby, we could stay in the hotel and while lil' man sleeps, have a nice dinner downstairs in the hotel restaurant. And bonus: they have really nice pack 'n plays for babies! Again, rooms are small, but they are nice, and the bed is so comfy. Staff is nice and the pool area, although small, is nice to have! Just a few chaises, one umbrella area and that's it. Free parking for guests on their small lot is another bonus. Overall, a great option if you're looking to stay in wine country, but have more dining options and be in the thick of this quaint little wine town.

The perfect spot to stay at when in Sonoma. It's located right on the square, offers a great view of the town, amazing restaurant downstairs, pool and room service.

I measured the length of the pool in Google satellite view and it's about 20 yards so you can get some decent laps in. There are seating areas in and near the lobby; my team had a spot to play board games in the hallway one night. We had a meeting room right off the bar for a small 3-day conference. We had some natural light coming through frosted windows but no direct. There was another room in a separate building with natural light that looked really great, but ours was fine too. From the get go, the manager and workers were all so friendly and helpful. There were initially some issues with dynamic pricing, but they were able to correct things on the back end, which was much appreciated. The main building and breakfast area are both very warm and inviting. The couches and seats are comfortable. There are games and books in the cabinet areas too. The chef provides a tasty breakfast each day, with the menu slightly changing. There is coffee, tea, and hot/cool water available all day. It can get a little crowded at breakfast, so if you are in a large group, go either very early or very late. The afternoon happy hour is pretty relaxed with some offerings of cheese, crackers, and wine. Be sure to ask for gluten-free options, as they have them available. They also prepared nice chocolates for my parents (anniversary) and a cookie for my nephew (birthday), which was a lovely touch. The rooms are fine, some are a little darker and/more dated, but that didn't bother us. The one thing that I would've done differently, is to bring an eye mask and ear plugs. Depending on where your room is located, you could be facing the main street. The doors in certain buildings would slam pretty loudly, so if you had neighbors returning late at night, you would definitely hear them. I am a little fussy with beds, and I found the Vitners King (seemed more like a Cali King?) bed to be a little firm and transferred movement easily. We would consider splurging for the updated rooms next time. Bonus that they have cruiser bikes to borrow. It was very nice to go for a quick ride one of the mornings. The location is fantastic, it's within walking distance to downtown. There are so many great restaurants to visit. In addition, wineries and parks are also a close drive away. Overall a great place to stay and we really enjoyed our visit, thank you!

How about when you first drive up the winding drive, and glimpse the first take of the stunning main building. I arrived at night, so all the ambience from the lighting, the moon, the glimmer off the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. Immediately was struck. Then I walked in to check in at the front desk - and I couldn't have been more welcoming. I had just made the marathon drive from Pasadena, CA, and was just tired, hungry and looking to get to the room and get to dinner. But the warm faces and kind words instantly washed the road away from me (and to be honest, the perfectly chilled glass of local champagne certainly helped that too!). They ensured everything was right with the room and with the stay and so I headed out to pick up the puppy from the car and settle up to the room. And then... there is the story of the puppy. Out of all the hotels and resorts I've stayed in - nothing NOTHING compares to the dog friendly (while still wholly human centric) service at this Fairmont. They made me feel like Chance was as much a guest there as I was. And all that isn't even to mention the concierge, the perfect cocktails from the bartender, the beautiful winding paths that guide you through the campus, the world class spa and massages (note - make SURE you check out the quiet room, nothing like it I've ever seen), the OUTSTANDING breakfast under the trees next to the pool... I just don't have time to list it all here. But the cherry on top - really is the people. They just... they are the magic that infuses everything in the building, everything in the resort, everything in the spa. They were there for me at every turn and at every moment, for every need. I'm a Fairmont member and have stayed at several Fairmont properties, including Banff and Hawaii, so I came in with high expectations. Unfortunately, this experience didn't come close to the level of service or value I've come to expect from the brand. If you're in your 30s looking for a fun, relaxing day trip from San Francisco, I'd skip this. It's not about the cost alone. I don't mind paying for quality, but this just didn't deliver enough to justify the price. A disappointing experience and a missed opportunity for what could have been a great destination.
