Wow, the fastest smog check I've ever gotten with no wait time! This totally made my day especially it being so hot and the waiting area/front desk actually has chairs for you to chill and not just stand to wait around in the heat. I had to find a place quick since I was running out of time to mail it back in and therefore I used the handy dandy yelp which brought me to this gem. It is a bit pricey compared to other places I been to but I'm not complaining with my $10 off yelp. For the fast, no wait time, chairs inside a building, water and coffee (free)...uhhh need I say more. I will definitely be coming back here. read more

I've tried several smog businesses around Castro Valley and now I've found a business to stick with. Pleasant experience as far as a smog could be. Chabot Smog operates out of 1 of 3 bays and his expedient work is much appreciated. I arrived earlier today at prime time on a Saturday, 2 cars ahead of me but decided to wait it out as I had some time to spare. As I waited I wanted to see how long per vehicle he it took, from pulling in the bay to backing out of bay was 11 minutes, then that customer went to office to sign and pay, 14 minutes total. This guy hustles and also very kind person and said he appreciated my business, sincerity is a lot art these days but this business owner passed with flying colors as my mustang cobra passed smog, also with winged colors!! The only drawback is the tight parking lot with only about 10 spaces available but no problem for us on a busy Saturday. I will support this business with my other vehicles in the future. read more

Today was the first time I used this service but it won't be the last. I didn't have an appointment, and there was one car in front of me (arrived before he opened) but I was not kept waiting for very long because the guy doing the test is organized and efficient. He was also cheerful, knowledgeable, and gave me advice on his to marinate lamb. Outstanding speed and respect for my time. Technician is a professional: He recognized that I had brought a unique foreign car with manual transmission to test. He had no trouble in driving it into his work station, opening the hood, etc. Once the test was completed, he did forget to close the OBDII port cover under the dash. But I do expect and forgive this due to the unique character of my car. I have several cars that need smog occasionally, and I will gladly bring another to him when the time comes.
