Chaffles is at the Elgin VFW Fridays-Sundays 5pm-11pm. Sometimes they have a pop up at different events. I was lucky to get to try their loaded fries with chicken and their special secret sauce. The chicken is juicy and well seasoned! The secret sauce with the chicken and French fries were so good! I really enjoyed how crispy the chicken was and it was such a good meal! They offer a good menu including chicken and waffles! Thus where they go the name Chaffles from! They are a fairly new business that opened at the end of August but they have been making a name for themselves for the best fried chicken in town! The duo owners are super kind and cool people. You must try their candied grapes! Everyone raves about them! Do I recommend Chaffles? Yes!!! This place is legit and serve up delicious chicken! I haven't tried their waffles but i will soon! I can't wait to be back to try their other item including hot Cheetos crusted chicken strips and fried Oreos! I had grabbed their pictures off of their IG page to create a Yelp business page for them!

The chicken is straight fire, super crispy. Super delicious, moist. Probably the best chicken I've ever had.

You order from the counter and they give you number. Drinks are self served for coffee, fountain, or water. In a fridge next to the order station is orange juice, apple juice, bottled water, and milks (regular and chocolate). Since this was my first time, I ordered the flight of 3. I asked the employee for their favorite - chicken and waffles - and also ordered Banana Love and Grilled Cheese and Bisque. It was definitely a mix of flavors - sweet, savory, and hearty. The ambiance is upbeat. Playing top 40 type of music, folks are dressed comfortably, and the tables are a bit too close together but can easily to accommodate larger groups. Chicken and waffles. Had this one first. It served more like a main meal. Chicken was juicy, a bit more breading than expected but was easy to take it off. It was served with syrup and some sort of mayo/thousand island type mix. Grilled cheese & bisque. Had this one next. Should've been first because it had more of an appy feel. Waffles were nice and crispy, cheese was perfectly melted. I used the bisque for dipping but the also provided a spoon in case you want to continue on with it. Banana Love. Saved this one a dessert. The Nutella was pretty thick and a bit overpowering. The whipped cream was really good and banana looked and tasted fresh. Overall, very good and will eventually eat my way through the menu. The menu also offers sandwich type meals where the waffle acts as the bun. Those seem good for a real lunch.

Also ordered the Nutella and strawberry waffles for my son and an à la cart order of 2 eggs over medium. He enjoyed his waffle but it became overwhelmingly sweet extremely fast so beware! Unfortunately the griddle or pan the eggs were cooked on wasn't cleaned nor seasoned properly bc he took one bite and instantly noticed a "metal flavor" only for us to flip both eggs over and can physically see metal color covering the bottom of both eggs. Super disappointing but we notified the staff and they offered to remake them. Of course my son wasn't trusting and chose not to have them remade. We were refunded $3.50 for the eggs.

Well first, the place is inviting for people of a certain age as well as for young people with many decorations evocative of the hippie era. It's clean and very pleasant. The menu is ambitious, I think they try too hard to be cute. And though the service was excellent, it all came down to the food for me. I ordered the Birdie Trio. It sounded interesting. But too many of these restaurants trying to do chicken and waffles take the shortcut and use processed boneless chicken parts reformed to look like an actual natural piece. I was supposed to get a thigh on each waffle. The chicken vaguely resembled thighs. But the meat was white and very salty. Not good. Should I ever drop in again, I'll stick with a more traditional combination and maybe my extra will be better. And oh, that credit card machine is set at a default of about 22% tip and that's on top of tax. Watch out!

Crispy on the outside, golden and crunchy, with a cheesy, gooey center that tasted like true homemade mac & cheese. Already off to a strong start. Then came the chicken and waffles... and let me just say: the chicken is a 1000/5. Perfectly crispy, well-seasoned breading with juicy, tender meat inside. Every bite was packed with flavor. The waffle was soft, fluffy, buttery, and cooked just right--paired perfectly with the chicken. I also tried the gumbo (added shrimp). The flavor was definitely there, rich and well-developed with a great consistency on the roux. For me personally, it was just a tad on the salty side--but honestly, not enough to take away from the overall experience. Even the cabbage was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right--nothing on the table was bland. This is one of those spots where you can taste the care in every dish. Flavor everywhere, no shortcuts. Five stars all the way. I'll definitely be back.

That's fine because it allowed us a bit of time to check out downtown Bastrop. Once seated, service was American cafe classic. Very friendly and full of memorabilia on the walls and decore. The evening cleaning crew left us an upside down dead . . . Yup, you guessed it. We told the server, they might want to clean it up before seating the next guest at that table. I ordered the Upcluck and Away mac and cheese, plus a snack portion of the chicken and waffles with the maple aioli sauce. The food was definitely the highlight. The mac and cheese was really good, and that maple aioli sauce on the chicken and waffles was so good. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the portions were decent for what I ordered. I also got the banana brûlée matcha. It was good, but the matcha itself didn't taste ceremonial grade. It had a slightly chalky texture that took away from it a bit. One downside was the wait. I stood in line for about 30 minutes, which was longer than expected. Overall, the food hits, especially if you're craving something savory and indulgent, but the wait and the drink quality keep it from being a higher rating for me. I'd still come back, just maybe at a less busy time, so not the weekends at all!
