Several times we have been here and the closing time is up to the kitchen employees it seems. Joseph's has a questionable closing time... see what had happened was... the first time, we arrived at about 8:43 pm on a night they closed at 9 pm. We were told the kitchen was CLOSED!! No dinner from Joseph's. This has happened several times since they moved. They need to update their hours to show the hours you can truly EAT at this RESTAURANT. I wonder if the owner knows this is happening. Customer service should be a priority, but it's not. Do better. I have eaten the food before. Shrimp scampi is pretty good. The filet was alright. I've had the steak medallion appetizer. The braised ribs are hit or miss- they can sometimes taste like they've been sitting in the fridge. They bring you some very hot bread out with cheese on top and a pat of butter. You can drink alcohol at the bar there until they close up for the night. The servers are nice. 3 stars for the food No stars for the hours 3 stars for the drinks 4 stars for the servers No stars for customer prioritization If you're going to be picky about serving times your food/beverage should be top tier!

I got the 2 meat combo plate with chicken and garlic pork sausage. I also got the creamed corn and potato salad on the side. Everything was good. The sausage and corn were great. In hindsight I wish I had ordered chicken breast - it's a just me thing, but brown chicken meat is tasting and smelling a lot like turkey to me lately which isn't great because of a bad turkey experience. (Again just me!!) I also would have ordered double creamed corn! It was delish! I also feel like I need raw onions and pickles forever with BBQ now. New obsession. Unfortunately, this was our first visit, and will also be our last. My mom ordered the chicken, my sister had the chili, and I went all in with the brisket, ribs, creamed corn, coleslaw, and buttermilk pie. The brisket was, without question, the driest brisket I've ever had. It was so dry that I had to take a drink after nearly every bite just to get it down. The ribs weren't much better, equally dry and lacking seasoning. The creamed corn had a strange texture and flavor that neither of us enjoyed, and the coleslaw was just average. In the end, all of my meal, plus half of my mom's chicken, went home for the dogs. The one bright spot was the buttermilk pie. It was surprisingly good and had just the right amount of sweetness. To be fair, the staff was very friendly, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. They deserve five stars for hospitality and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the food itself was closer to one star, and when you're visiting a BBQ restaurant, the food matters most. What made this even more disappointing was that we passed by the day before and saw what looked like the entire Elgin police department parked there. We figured it must be fantastic. Sadly, that wasn't our experience. I wouldn't eat here again, and I wouldn't recommend it based on the food we received. Such a disappointment.

The bread was barely toasted, Since I rarely eat bread, and get it as a treat, disappointing bread can really affect a meal. The fillings were as expected. The onion rings were perfectly light and crispy. I decided to take advantage of the chance to try their desserts too, and so I went with the top recommended coconut cake. It was pretty forgettable. What sets this burger place apart from their competitors is their use of roasted Hatch green chilies and their "Magic" sauce. You can also add jalapeños for free and bacon for just a dollar more. If you get the combo, you can upgrade to a shake for just two dollars more. Let's start with the star of the show which is the burger. I got the double cheese with bacon and I have to admit it met all my expectations. The bun is not your typical white bread, I was told it's called a "euro bun". The roasted chilies added just a subtle note of heat.
