My friend and I stumbled upon this tea place by accident. It was small but cozy inside. I got an Iced Peach Oolong Pure Tea which was very refreshing. I only wanted it 50% less sweet. I tried the Peach Oolong Citrus Teafresher ($7.45) and Roasted Black Tea Latte ($7.45). I liked both of these drinks! The tea in the Roasted Black Tea Latte was prominent, but not overwhelming. The Peach Oolong also had a nice tea flavor and the peach and citrus flavor made it a nice a refreshing drink. I also love that they don't charge you for a bag to carry your drinks! The customer service was friendly and efficient. Definitely love this location over the chaotic Century City mall location. Finally got to try this place and was surprised at the flavor of the teas! Since it was my first time, the server was super helpful in answering some questions I had. The amber tea had a roasted taste and the Jasmine was floral without it being too overpowering. I usually get my drinks half sugar but per the servers recommendation, their perfect sweetness is their regular so that's what I went with and it wasn't too sweet at all! OK so first things first. It's not a boba place. I'm lookin' at you, Google Maps. But! A great accident of Googling, this was a great find. Delicious tea. Other reviewers were right, they really respect the tea itself. Even the sweetened iced tea had just enough sweet to cut the natural astringency of the tea. I always go for "light ice" to avoid the "ice with a little tea" effect, and that worked just fine here. I moved here from Texas, where sweet tea is usually watered down corn syrup with food coloring and a little flavor. What a palate cleanser! It's bold, slightly smoky, and doesn't get drowned out by the milk like a lot of other places do. You can actually taste the tea, which I really appreciate. Also, can we talk about their packaging? Newly opened tea spot inside the Shops at MV. I first heard about Chagee from my fellow elites at a Yelp event. Since then, I was curious to see what the hype was about. On opening day, the lines were insane. They were also giving out Chagee totes (super cute and reminds me of the Dior book totes). This is located on the ground floor right across Old Navy, and directly below Tommy Bahama. They have a decent sized seating area to enjoy your bevvy and chat. Weeknights, no lines. Perfect time to try. I tried the iced peach oolong lemon special-tea. I did it with no adjustments... and it is pretty darn good. $8 for a drink is pretty steep but I appreciate and 100% taste the difference in the quality of tea they use and how they brew it. The lemon makes this drink extra refreshing. I also appreciated the nutritional facts label plastered on each drink. It is very helpful to know that this drink has 230 calories, a whopping 1 gram of protein, and contains 135mg of caffeine and I absolutely have no business drinking this at 6PM. Delicious tea. This is my first time at a CHAGEE Tea house. According to their website, "CHAGEE is a modern teahouse with over 7,300+ locations worldwide, rooted in heritage, wellness, and connection". Their aim is to bring centuries of Chinese tea culture into the modern world. They were founded in 2017 and I counted 9 Southern CA locations on their website. This location is inside the shops at Mission Viejo (Basically inside the Mission Viejo Mall). It is located adjacent to the Macy's men's store at the lower level next to the water fountain. It is a small space with a few tables and chairs. The Interior is ultramodern with glass and wood elements. Just like most coffee and tea shops, you pay first. FYI: They do not take cash. CHAGEE is known for its tea-based lattes made with real tea leaves and fresh milk. Their Menu includes several attractive options within 3 categories ranging from Brewed Teas, Special Teas and extracted Teas. (See attached photos for full menu). According to the menu, everything seems to be Iced. Today i had the Jasmine Green Lemon Tea. It is a refreshing citrus beverage crafted by combining premium jasmine-scented green tea with fresh lemon and lime. The tea is made using fresh, whole green tea leaves, blended with fragrant jasmine blossoms, then paired with real, sliced lemon for a bright, floral, and slightly tart flavor. It was delicious. I found it interesting that they offer 2 different types of straws. One shaped as a 3 hole triple channel that is recommended for Tea latte and pure tea and another standard wider one for their Lemon Tea. The idea is to optimize the tasting experience for different types of beverages. The baristas are friendly and their prices are reasonable for the quality. My 22oz Jasmine green Lemon Tea was $7.45 plus Tax. But it also had a descent amount of ice. So, you don't really get a full 22oz. I had a good first time experience and so did my taste buds. :) I am looking forward to trying some of the other tea flavors and i recommend giving CHAGEE a try. Easy 5 stars. Special shout out to the staff Asu, Vanessa, Emi, and Christian. Jeez, I know how hard working in the food industry can be and these workers work HARD af. Located in the Mission mall (kinda random but I digress), the storefront is easy to locate. I think the easiest landmark is to park near the Cheesecake Factory, and once you're inside the mall entrance on the left of the restaurant, just turn left and go from there. The store itself is clean with a few seating options. But the 5 stars go to the staff because they are on it with the suggestions and what you might like. I was really hesitant if the peach oolong lemon tea was going to be too sweet for me but the cashier reassured me that if I didn't vibe with the drink I could just order an alternative. Which I did lol. The peach oolong tea latte was way more up my alley. Wow. Seriously, I could taste the peach extract. The quality difference compared to other tea stores was staggering. I got the iced Amber oolong tea latte and it was SO good! The flavors are very nutty and toasty, which I already love about oolong, but I'd never thought to have it as a latte before. I ordered it based on the associate's recommendation and I'm so glad I did because it was the perfect balance of creamy and tea forward. You can really taste that roasted, nutty oolong flavor without it being too sweet or heavy. Super refreshing and honestly such a nice change from the usual iced lattes or milk teas. They also have a lot of really cute merch. I didn't end up buying any this time, but it's definitely tempting. Overall, it's a great drink to walk around the mall with and enjoy slowly. We arrived at 7:45am for 10am opening and we were already 30th in line. We found out that people are fanatics and go around camping out for different grand openings to collect the unique plushies and tote bags. The grand opening was very organized and staff would communicate with us every 30 min. At 10am when they opened the line moved fast and efficient. It's a happy day for tea drinkers because one of China's most popular tea shops has now made its way to south county. Currently it's their grand opening weekend and they have giveaways if you're willing to wait in line. We arrived 45 min. before opening and waited 3 hours in total, but we did snag their really cute tote bag and tea plushie. Aside from the crazy long wait, the opening was well organized and the charistas were friendly. The shop is located on the first floor of the mall by the escalators in the middle, near the fountains. It's not very big but there are a few tables inside. Their aesthetic is modern and classy, even their cups and to-go bags are nice. I do wish their cold drink cups were as pretty as their hot ones though. We tried their large Boya Jasmine Green Tea Latte ($6.45), Iced Roasted Black Tea Latte ($7.95) and Iced Peach Oolong Lemon Tea ($7.45). They were all good, but the peach oolong lemon one was a little too sweet. I might do less sugar for that one next time but it was still refreshing. To be clear, this is a tea shop and not a boba shop, so some may be disappointed that they don't do drink toppings. There is a rewards system through the app, and it even provides customized nutrition information for your drinks, which is interesting. Came for the grand opening today all due to their great marketing. I had no idea one was even opening until it popped up on Instagram AND of course had to show up early to get the free tote. We came about 1.5hrs before but I'd say you probably still got one coming just an hour before. I'm sure on opening Sat and Sun it's even busier though so if you want the peace of mind that you didn't miss it by 10-15mins... just show up 10-15mins earlier. They eventually stamp your hand to secure your spot and let you know that you're in the first 200, this was a great idea because then it avoids that random addition 5 mins before opening which may just have been your 200th spot. The staff and extra help were all super friendly and overall it was a great vibe. You can tell there's a Chagee following and we met people that drove from pretty far out, my guess is for the passport and unique plushie promo. There are a few tables inside for seating and I'd recommend the app for rewards and tracking your order. There's also a screen inside that'll tell you when your order is ready if you don't hear them calling your name. It's located 1st floor right across from the fountains. Drinks wise, they had a limited selection with just about 4 options. Only the brewed tea can adjust ice level. They recommend regular sweetness but I think I'd do extra sweet next time. I thought the straws were an odd choice which I'd be curious why they have these specific ones. They're basically 3 coffee stir looking tubes fused together which makes it difficult to really drink a lot in one sip. I don't know if this was a way to have you make your drink last longer or you're supposed to only drink a little with each sip but the straws threw me off. They came in nice bags but one of our drinks leaked so just make sure you check before and handle with care. As an avid tea drinker, I am so glad the mall got a Chagee. When I first visited them up in LA, I never thought it would expand in to Orange County because it might be too niche. They treat tea with the respect it deserves. While I tend to get just a black tea without anything in it, I have tried a few of their other mixed tea options and the tea still always shines through everything else. They know they have a high quality tea and they don't want it drowned out. Staff here is friendly and knowledgeable. If you're not a tea drinker, they can easily point you in the direction of something you will enjoy. I guarantee you'll walk out of there with a delicious cup of tea. My only real complaint for this location is that it's small. It's in the old Sweet Factor (for you old time MV mall patron) so it's got a great corner location, but a small retail space footprint. They are banking on people getting their tea and going about their shopping. This location is not really meant to be a hang out spot like big chain coffee shops. But honestly, you're in a mall! Take it to go. Enjoy your drink as you shop. Or, the food court is very close where you can easily find a table to sit. I will certainly be visiting Chagee when I go shopping at the mall. I ordered the Peach oolong latte with less ice. It was really good. I didn't make any sweetness adjustments and it was perfect, not too sweet. They were offering samples of Jasmine latte and it was pretty good. I will order that next time. Straws are not necessary to use to drink but if you do use a straw, their straws are made of 3 tiny straws together and allows you to sip very slowly.
