This place is so sweet, old fashioned, and charming. It sits right on top of the falls! I like to go in there and get both a popcorn and a soft serve vanilla Euclid Beach Custard. Sweet and salty! I'd choose this classic spot over any other ice cream place in town, every time. Check out the hotdogs, the coffee, and the vintage candy. This place is called the popcorn shop but when you first look at it, it seems like it's called Dewey's coffee, espresso bar. It's a very unfriendly uninviting establishment. The staff is not friendly and the atmosphere is very uninviting. It's very post Covid with a lot of preventing people being near, an espresso. It was OK. Chagrin Falls wouldn't be the same without this beautiful red, white and blue building pumping out amazing popcorn smells right next to the entrance to the falls! Like many locals I've been visiting since I was a little kid and there's something so special about grabbing some popcorn, soft serve or one of the many scoopable ice cream options. I remember always being so excited to go, and while I've gotten (a lot) older I still have a huge smile on my face everytime I walk in. During my latest visit, the falls were closed due to recent snow but you could still see how beautiful they are when they're frozen from the top view. We walked into the Popcorn Shop and were welcomed by two friendly staff members who allowed us to peruse at our leisure. You can tell they've made efforts to promote COVID Safety by adding in a plexiglass barrier to help separate the line and we appreciated that, even though we went at a slow time. We ended up loading up on popcorn, both pre-packaged and fresh and I had to grab a hot drink because it was SOOOO COLD! Everything was delicious and some of the popcorn even made it back to California with me to share. I love that they not only have the products we've come to expect, but they've also brought in other local products and treats to highlight. It really makes this a must visit spot every time I visit home, especially when I have friends with me who are not local. I'm already excited for my next visit. read more

Great place to visit while taking in the falls. The popcorn options are great and the flavor is amazing. Ice cream selection is also very good. They have old type candy or you can grab an espresso. Small place but current clear dividers help with line. Reasonable pricing. It truly is a must stop when in the area. Something for everyone and it will not be your last visit. read more

Very disappointing experience from the Popcorn Shop for an online order. Popcorn was ordered online on December 12, 2020. I live out of state and was sending popcorn to my parents in Cleveland, who live 20 minutes from the shop. Per the business, it was shipped on December 16, yet as of December 31, it has still not arrived. Despite multiple emails and attempts to resolve this (as the gift far missed the holiday window), the business would not refund nor offer for me to pick up the order from the shop. While I respect that they cannot control USPS, I have no idea why they wouldn't have found a local delivery solution for this instead. As of now, my parents have no popcorn and solutions or remediations were presented. I always support local, but this horrific level of service makes it much more difficult. I will not patron here again and will be sharing this story with my community. read more

Love this nostalgic memory maker. Took my daughter for ice cream when I was in the area visiting friends, and it quickly became a meaningful stop. Cute, original, and prices are reasonable despite the tourism. A lot of history for this "history buff." Cute little rustic sweet shop in the heart of Chagrin Falls! I am from Cleveland and currently reside in Columbus. However, I don't think I have ever been to Chagrin Falls before since I'm from the West Side of CLE. It's got a cute little downtown area with many restaurants and shops. This is right in the heart of it and directly in front of/above "the falls" which is a nice little place to stop down to see after you get your sweet treat. I was in the area for a wedding and had a few hours to kill before the reception started. My sister and her husband live in Westlake and met me in the area to get lunch. We then walked over to Chagrin Falls Popcorn shop to get ice cream. I really though it would be sub-par grocery tasking ice cream but I ended up enjoying it! I had many samples and they were very patient as I taste tested all the flavors! I ended up getting a double dip cone with chocolate and peanut butter. We also looked at some of the candies but didn't purchase anything other than ice cream. I wish they had Mallo-Cups. That would fit in with the old-school candy shop vibe they have going. All in all, a good place to stop if you are in the area. But if you want some of the best ice cream in Cleveland, this place probably wouldn't make my list. read more

This little candy, coffee, ice cream, confections, etc. shop really gives me nostalgia for a corner shop that was around in the neighborhood I grew up in. They offer some of the same old school candies that I enjoyed growing up. Aside from that, they offer some of the same old great service. There was a particular lollipop that I was looking for for my son's birthday. Not only did they search the store for it, while I held on the phone, but when they located the last two units in the store they offered to hold it for me without prompt. Our Buffalo NY fam' was in the Cleveland area on New Year's Eve for the Cavs game. On New Year's Day, we made an impromptu stop in Chagrin Falls on the way home to check out the waterfall. Chagrin Falls is an adorable little town, with a lovely Main Street shopping area flanking the falls. Since it was a holiday, most of the shops were closed. But Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop was open. And the giant beacon guiding us into the shop?? ... a HUGE WRECKING-BALL-SIZED POPCORN BALL out front! :-O Apparently Chagrin Falls does their own NYE ball drop from the town square flagpole. The remains of the previous evening's ball were on display. It was taller than my 6'3" husband! After we marveled at the massive popcorn ball, we went into the shop. It is a small store that would be a fairly tight squeeze if busy, maybe a dozen people at most could fit in at one time. Luckily we had it all to ourselves to peruse the popcorn flavors. There are about a dozen or so pre-bagged flavors, all popped in-house. Our son grabbed a Triple-Cheddar. Most flavors use dairy and/or butter, but our vegan daughter was pleased to find that the Kettle Corn was vegan ingredients. The small bags of popcorn were $8.95, and are about the size of a standard bag of potato chips. So pricey, but you're paying for the locally handmade quality. In addition to popcorn and an assortment of old-timey candies, there is a coffee bar. It was a dreary, rainy day so we grabbed some hot bevvies for the road, too. I had house roast black, my husband went with a hot cider, and our daughter had tea. The hot cider was the star of the show, it was very creamy and flavorful! the shop also scoops hard ice cream, which we did not try on this winter visit. Our kids passed out for most of the ride home, and didn't eat their popcorns until a few days later. But once they did, both bags were gone before I even got a bite! So it's safe to say they were fresh and delicious. Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop is a vintage shop with blast-from-the-past charm and quality treats and beverages that our fam' would happily enjoy again! :-D read more

The ultimate throwback sweet shop. Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop seems to be keeper to a whole assortment of candy, popcorn, ice cream, coffee, as well as fond memories of many a Cleveland native. I didn't have the glow of nostalgia to accompany my visit, but still appreciated the cozy clutter filling the walls of the shop. The walls are stacked floor to ceiling with bright bags of popcorn and shelves of candy, some of which are actually hard to find nowadays (like Sour Punch Straws). There are only about 10 ice cream flavors (including the seasonal ones) so it's difficult to get overwhelmed. And yes, they'll let you try before you buy. If you prefer to sip your dessert, you can indulge in a smoothie, milkshake, or coffee. None of the ice cream flavors really piqued my interest. Maybe it was the old school allure of the Popcorn Shop, but I had the strong urge to get a Root Beer Float. When it came time to pay, I was told (a little rudely) that at $4.95, my tab was 5 cents short of their credit card minimum. So we picked a random candy off the counter. The prices were actually higher than I expected. No, I wasn't expecting a nickel candy store, but for all the complaining about Jeni's prices, they're only pricier by about $1 per size. In case you were wondering, the Float did satisfy my cravings. The walkable space within the store is an L-shaped corridor maybe 20 to 30 feet long with only one small table beneath the window. Be careful squeezing your way past other customers to grab a napkin or straw lest you spill something cold or hot on each other! The porch outside would have been an adorable place to sit had it not been 20 degrees outside. In flavor and presentation, I think Jeni's has the Popcorn Shop beat. But I'm sure summer time will still see crowds flocking beneath the bright awning to get a taste of their childhood. read more

There kettle caramel corn is what I recommend if you are going to get something. Inside they make you go single file line through very tight quarters. I have never encountered anything like this before. I just went to the Chagrin Falls popcorn shop and ordered a small vanilla Frozen Custard. The total came to $3.75 and like a dummy, I gave them a dollar tip. The small Frozen Custard consisted of the tiniest amount of ice cream, that just sat on the top of the cone. I didn't realize that they do not fill the cone with ice cream, as other places do, until I actually ate the ice cream off the top. I went back to the shop to complain and was told that it's a management thing and they do not fill the cones with ice cream. You better believe I gave them a horrible review and will never go there again Outrageously expensive for the tiny "measured" (ha!) serving size!!!! read more

Constantly filled with customers, this little chagrin falls shop will take you back in time. It is located in the heart of the village seriously placed over the falls. It is filled with popcorn, chocolates, ice cream, and coffee. Not only is it always crowded in the summer to the point the line is out the door, it's also filled with customers in the winter giving memorable gifts for family members that represents this town so well. If you are in Chagrin Falls you have to go to this signature stop for some delicious popcorn or even a shot of espresso. Their are no seats in side, just a line that wraps around the small store, but their are benches out front to enjoy some cold ice cream in the summer. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for some old timey family nostalgia, you've found your sweet spot! The Popcorn Shop is physically small and the lines can build up quickly. Half ice cream parlor and half popcorn shop, the friendly employees will be happy to give you samples of the popcorn. While the popcorn can be a little pricy, it's the price you pay for quality. I'm a big fan of the natural cheese and caramel corn. There's really no indoor seating. There is one, cute window on the ice cream side with a few chairs which overlooks the waterfall, but its prime real estate. If for any reason the weather is inclement, be prepared that you may not get a seat inside. Also, it's usually pretty hot inside this store. Which is bizarre, considering half of it is filled with ice cream! Regardless, anyone who knows this area will tell you that the Popcorn Shop is a staple of the community. If the old fashioned décor, gumball machines and classic candies don't make you smile, I have no idea what will. read more

A visit to The Popcorn Shop is a must if you find yourself in charming Chagrin Falls. You can almost hear the tune that made you run for the ice cream truck as you're staring at all the nostalgic candy while waiting in line for ice cream - FunDip, Boston Baked Beans, Necco Wafers, Pop Rocks. I was all set to go with something light, a sorbet perhaps ... until the chocolate peanut butter pretzel yumminess caught my eye. It was creamy, rich and the chunks of pretzels perfectly rounded out the flavor (see photo - can't believe I managed to take one before gobbling down the entire thing!). Yeah, I had a bit of a bellyache when I was finished, but no regret. I'll admit - I resist the urge to linger in the shop, though. Rude staff, lots of communication issues when we were pre-ordering several hundred dollars of popcorn for Christmas gifts. We ordered weeks in advance, arranging to pick it up before the shop opened on a Saturday. This was discussed at length with the staff, and we paid in full in advance, understanding that this was an inconvenience. The night before the pick up, they called us to say it was all packed and ready, and wondering if we could pick it up then instead. We told them that we still couldn't do it until the next morning, but we would grab the boxes and be out of their way as quickly as possible. They again agreed to this plan, verbally confirming it. When we arrived at the time they had told us to, nobody was there. Eventually someone came and let herself in, without acknowledging that I was standing there, obviously waiting for her (as agreed upon weeks earlier and confirmed the night before). After a few minutes, I knocked. She answered the door and told me that we could not get it until they opened, because she didn't have a cash register drawer yet. I reminded her that I had already paid in full, and she told me I was lying (specifically said "that's not true; we never run the card until you pick it up"). She then informed me in a patronizing manner that I had agreed to come after my other commitments. I reminded her that we had a specific plan that had been confirmed the evening before, to pick it up early, as this was the only time that worked for us today. She stated I would have to wait until someone else arrived at 9:00. She was persistently condescending and dismissive, telling me repeatedly that I was wrong, because that's not how they do this, and I'd just have to come back later. My wife called after 9, hoping to clarify what had happened and to find a time we could come to get the popcorn, and was told that the other person does not come in until 10, directly contradicting what I was told (by the same person) 30 minutes earlier. She asked my wife several times "what is your problem?" though my wife was trying to be conciliatory. They've lost a regular customer because of the complete absence of any quality in their customer service. Horrible experience. read more
