My friend got the fish sandwich and she switched out fries for broccoli and I got the turkey club with fries. We also ordered a wedge salad to split. Honestly though it was all too much. The wedge salad is pretty large and we ate it all. It was very good. The sandwiches we both ate half. They were both good and filling and we couldn't finish. And let me tell you the fries rock! I ordered takeout so I didn't have much of the sit down experience but when I walked in I walked to the cash register to pick up my food and there was a worker there who was doing something so I tried being polite and waiting. The squid inside was so juicy and lightly fried to perfection. They also fried tomatoes and jalapeños with the squid, giving the dish a perfect balance. Maybe it's good for breakfast but I had fried perch for dinner and the fillets were over cooked and tiny. So small the catch probably didn't meet minimum odnr requirements, if in fact they were really lake perch as stated. Another reviewer commented about the abundance of fruit flies in the restaurant. Stumbled upon this spot on a weekday late morning actually due to a popular spot in Mentor was a tad bit too busy for me. But majority of the parking is in the back. Nice outdoor seating in front. I sat inside at the bar where there were plenty seats. Greeted promptly. Coffee served quickly. I ordered the Lunker. And I saw pictures on Yelp of this but MAAAAAAN it's a lot!! I've been going here since it opened and it is a wonderful breakfast and lunch joint. Everything I've had tastes very good and the prices are pretty decent for the amount and quality of food that you get. There have been a few kitchen staff changes since they opened, and sometimes it reflects on the food, unfortunately. Most of the time everything is fine, but there have been a few occasions where I will get a watery omelette, or my avocado burger is missing the avocado. There is one cook who needs to do something with his hair. He wears a hat, but his greasy, longish hair sticks out every which way from underneath and it looks very unsanitary. And he needs to stop wiping his sweaty forehead and greasy hair with his bare hands over the prep table. Other than that, this place serves great food and I love it! read more

This was my second time there, I wanted to give it another chance. My first time I sent the food back and walked out. This time the service was bad and food was questionable. I ordered a drink waitress forgot about it and my brother ordered biscuits and gravy. They must have been sitting under the light or something because they were dry with hardly any gravy. First and only time coming here, Ordered eggs Benedict, hollandaise sauce was water consistency , and the cook served me complete RAW PORK which I didn't realize until after I took a bite. Our server was appalled, and immediately brought us a new one. All they did was take 5$ off, didn't even comp the whole meal for possibly giving me trichinosis. I'm a sucker for thoughtful breakfast fare and the Chagrin River Diner really hits the mark. My first visit was last week and I had the Corned Beef Hash, which was very flavorful and loaded with great corned beef. Today I enjoyed the Breakfast Tacos which came with a perfectly balanced Salsa Verde. I really enjoyed sitting at the counter, where the staff interact with you even while they are hustling. I will cut them a little slack because I know this place is new but they have SERIOUS DISORGANIZATION ISSUES. First of all they didnt have a host or greeter when we walked In. An hour to get a turkey club and side salad???? The food was decent nothing to get overly excited about. We had a party of 4, I sat and watched the other people eat for 10 minutes after already waiting 50 minutes. Watching the staff operate in the open kitchen was like the keystone cops. Sigh. This area can use a good breakfast/lunch spot, but they need to get organized or it won't stay open very long. If this place wasn't new I would drop it to 2 or maybe even 1 star based on SLOOOOWWWWW service and an uninspired men.
