I recommended this place, and it definitely didn't disappoint. I can't remember our server's name, but please forgive me because she was an absolute sweetheart. She was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, even with the million questions we had. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with the pork tenderloin and it was delicious! The pork was seasoned perfectly, not too fatty, and paired so well with the rich hollandaise sauce. The biscuit was soft and fresh, and everything came together perfectly. Stopped in to Chagrin River Diner for lunch. Chagrin River Diner is located in a corner in Willoughby. Inside is a busy dining room with roughhewn decor, lots of light wood and plenty of fish items. The open kitchen takes up one wall with counter seating, then some 2 person booths and a step up to bigger booths with menu chalkboards. The menu is divided between breakfast and lunch/dinner. Fairly classic diner menu with the significant difference of steelhead trout as a protein option. I ordered the seafood chowder and the steelhead hash. The soup came out in a minute or two, a very nicely presented small bowl of thick chowder stuffed with shrimp, fish and seafood, nicely seasoned and topped with some green onions. The chowder was delicious and very hearty. The hash was out a couple of minutes later, a plate loaded with diced potatoes, onions, peppers and pieces of steelhead trout topped with 3 over medium eggs and sided with 2 homemade biscuits. The hash was very nice, although if I get it again I would ask them to crisp up the potatoes, the trout works nicely as it is a mild fish with just enough flavor to stand up to the hash, the eggs were tasty and the biscuits were excellent. Overall a delicious and satisfying dish. Chagrin River Diner is a real find, it serves upscale diner food in a comfortable environment at reasonable prices. Service was great, the atmosphere is unique for the area, this place would feel right at home in a Rocky Mountain resort town. I will be back to Chagrin River Diner and try some of the other menu items. read more

Friday lunch visit. Decided to have some breakfast (served all day) with the corned beef hash. Corned beef made in house. Everyone else's meals also looked good and everyone was happy. We did not have a reservation so they took us down the steps and I thought we'd be heading to some really bad tables, however we were right on the edge of the falls. We were the only ones there it was so awesome! Andrew I believe his name was was our server and he was incredible. He answered every question fully he brought us extra things every time we asked, he had our dinner divided in a half because we wanted to split it and he packed our leftovers. He was so helpful. OK, let's get down to business. For any of you who follow my posts, you are aware one of my favorite things to do is go out for Fine Dining. Every Saturday night my wife and I join my brother and sister-in-law and we go out to dinner somewhere in the greater Cleveland area. We are always looking for a new experience. And we'll try just about anything. Certainly we have our favorites... Il Venetian is fabulous, Marble Room is fabulous, Cru Uncorked is fabulous, ML Tavern, Gigi's on Fairmount, Artis in Lakewood, and on and on. So many more I can't count them all. I'm always looking. But beyond all that, a guy (or gal) has to have their own "Joint". You have to have a place to go to any time, all the time, no matter how you're feelin', or looking. Your home away from home... you know - "your joint", "your place". Well here's my place. And not just my place. Lot's of people's place. This place is full of regulars. And because of the kind of place it is, new people are being added every day. Now let's get beyond the obvious. The food here is GREAT everyday comfort food. It's not pretentious. It's every day people breakfast, lunch, and dinner food. It's all made from scratch. I sit and watch them make the soup of the day for hours with all fresh ingredients. I watch the young woman that comes in two hours early just to dream up some new recipe and bake the morning muffins. I watched while one of the cooks worked for 3 months, tweaking and tweaking continuously to perfect his own recipe for the pretzel bites. These are dedicated people. And they do it all for their customers. And now the real reason why this is so many people's "Joint". Clearly it's the folks that work here. Somehow, someway, Jim the owner has managed to put together a team of people you just want to be friends with. These are awesome folks. It doesn't take long before they start treating you like family. I've seen it happen over and over. It's not fake. It's not some fancy business model. They're not kidding. It's real. I show up at the Diner anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week. Lot's of people do the same . There's a guy who is there every single day. And I don't care what kind of day you're having or what kind of mood you're in. You will just feel better by the time you leave. It's MAGIC. So if you need a "Joint", or just a good meal and good conversation; do yourself a favor. Stop in to the Chagrin River Diner and experience it for yourself. I'm not kidding you. I met up with a friend at Chagrin River Diner on a Wednesday for lunch. It was nice it wasn't crowded. I called a head of time to make sure they could sit us outside and said to just call 15-20 minutes before I arrived to make sure the table was available. It was. I got inside to get seated and no one came up to me for about 5 minutes or so. There was a lady who was kind of looking at me awhile once I came in but never approached me. She came over after waiting awhile and looked like she didn't want to seat me. It was weird. When I sat down the server came right over and took our order. I got the avocado burger and my friend got a large sandwich. It was nice they don't up charge for cheese on the burger and asked if I wanted it. Super nice server and really attentive. Now here's the deal, while I was eating with my friend a bird flew over and crapped on my plate! I was so irritated once I realized but because we were leaving I didn't want to inconvenience the server. I did have the fries and they were good but can't speak on the food unfortunately. Had the opportunity to eat breakfast at this local diner in downtown Willoughby. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options, but on our humid morning we opted for indoor. Our party of 3 was seated in a booth and immediately our server was over taking our drink order. I ordered both a regular coffee and a boozy one, which sadly didn't come out with the menu-indicated whipped cream topping. The coffee was strong (both of them) and flavorful. For my entree, I went with the Lunker Jr. which contained eggs, sausage gravy, cheese, and hashbrowns on top of a biscuit. I added a little Frank's Red Hot and honestly loved the meal. My boyfriend and his friend both chose the chorizo breakfast tacos, one with tots on the side and the other with the breakfast hashbrowns. I tried one of the tots and it had an extremely crispy and well-seasoned exterior with a soft and dense interior. It paired well with the chipotle crema he ordered for dipping. The Crispy Spuds were crunchy and soft - nice alternate to hash browns. My colleagues egg Benedict sauce looked thin. She said it was ok. This was our first time at the Chagrin River Diner, and we were absolutely coming back again. We picked the place here on Yelp because it had outdoor seating and the many looked great. We loved the fact that we could order breakfast all day and we chose some great brunch items. My husband had the Eggs Benedict substituting a zucchini patty for the pork. He really liked the taste of it and would order it again. I had the Sandy Bar and it was cooked to perfection. We both especially loved the breakfast potatoes, and how they were prepared. I love this place. My favorite plate has got to be the Brussels sprouts which are topped with candied walnuts, Gorgonzola, balsamic. The servers are so nice and accommodating, It is one of the few places I can go with my friend that has celiac disease and she has never had a problem here either. The food and service here are wonderful! The staff is cheerful, funny, and attentive. This is one of my favorite restaurants.

Do not order the strawberry short cake! Just watched the waitress cutting strawberries with no gloves, then go to a table take the customers tab and cash , proceed to take all the money out of her apron to make change, put said money back and go back to cutting straw berries stil no gloves and did not wash her hands. The open concept is nice but scary. I have been watching the cooks closely and everyone else is wearing gloves and changing them frequently or else we would be out of here. read more

let me start by saying that I really enjoy this restaurant! The food and service is always great, I especially like that the kitchen is open and it's honestly a beautiful place. unfortunately the last time my family and I went there, the heat was unbearable. Having to sit and sweat while trying to eat our food was extremely uncomfortable. which reminded me of a time we went in the winter months and we had to wear our winter coats the entire visit because of how cold it was. I spoke to our server and she said it was a temporary thing.. now seeing how hot it has been in there, I'm thinking maybe there is an issue with the heating and cooling system. I feel bad for complaining but I seen how others were sweating as well and I feel terrible for the servers and cooks who have to work in this heat. read more
