A terrific overall experience. Quick service and delicious assortment of food. Had to take a full takeout container of leftovers home. A variety of seating and settings, from personal tables to an airy greenhouse area to a lodge-type dining hall. Great spot to check out!

Such a wonderful ambiance in the room with the spiral staircase and special floor tiles. Present for lunch on a Tuesday. Arrived at 11:30a without reservation and led right to a table. Room full by end. My salad was absolutely scrumptious. Loved every aspect of it. Gorgeous. Friend's burger looked juicy & divine (jealous, perhaps). Fries - I got one! Super. Only scruple - the piece of celery on my Bloody Mary skewer looked like it had been sliced a couple days ago. Set it aside. No biggee. But celery's not pricey. Give me a fresh cut next time, please!

Hecks in Ohio City is still one of the most charming venues with great food! The ambience of this location is exceptional. You start drinking in the rooms, just walking into the restaurant. It's a charming neighborhood, particularly with the Autumn leaves blanketing the area. Lunch was exceptional. I had the Au Chaval Burger. Mind you, I was skeptical because I used to live within walking distance from the actual "Au Chaval" in Chicago. This was every bit as good as the original, and trust me, the Au Chaval burger is better than you can imagine. It was two sunny-side-up eggs on excellent, high-quality beef with a dollop of sour cream and a quality bun. The fries are excellent, just soft enough to dip in ketchup and mayo and very tasty, not the least bit greasy. The service was as good as it gets. Again, a good restaurant server is like God, everywhere but never seen, and always available when you need them. This is a place well worth visiting! Thank you, staff!

Wow. amazing! From the food to the service, this place was awesome. I am always looking for a good truffle fry and i'd say this place is going to be my top 3!! Fresh food, great flavors and great staff.

Heck's Cafe does not disappoint. I made a reservation and was seated where I was preferenced. I greatly appreciated the acknowledgement of my note on my opentable reservation. The cute scenic view of the spiral staircase with sunlight coming in through the windows is my favorite. Our waiter was very attentive, flexible and kind. We ordered the pierogis and potstickers as appetizers. It wasn't as flavorful as I remember it. But still not too bad, although they were pricey appetizers at $13, when my large burger and fries were only $15. One thing I will say is service is kinda slow, but I understand that they're very busy and have a lot going on so I definitely don't count that against them. I ordered the Ohio City Burger, the spice flavor was strong, but kinda wish I would've opted for a burger with an aioli sauce since it was dry. My friend got the blackened salmon burger which she enjoyed. The fries were decent too and I appreciated the large pickle slice. The basic coffee was surprisingly amazing and had a very strong fall mix taste. Highly recommend for anyone new to the area to check out Heck's. I can't wait to try other options off the menu on future visits!

The staff are lovely but I find the food pretty average . The burger meat could have used more seasoning it did not have much of a flavor .

The perfect brunch spot year round. In the summer you can dine outside, but there's some really cool places to enjoy your meal amongst an incredible plant room. The service is great, the food is awesome and your experience will be second to none. Check out the heckburger or one of their seasonal specials for an unforgettable meal.

I had a great solo lunch sitting at the bar of Heck's. The staff were very friendly and I had great interactions with both Victoria and Joan. I thought I wanted one burger but I was happily encouraged to try the Brie Berry Burger with added caramelized onions. I subbed the Cesar salad for French fries and it was such delicious and filling meal. I also tried the My Mai Thai and it was sweet and bright and tasty.

Hecks Café is such a cute spot! This place is very trendy and hipster and if you are an out of towner this is a great place to check out. It is a bit more on the pricey side but in my option the quality is there. Food: Salmon Burger 8/10 It's shredded salmon not a patty - which is weird because they asked me how I wanted it cooked - I said medium it was a bit on the soggy side. The waitress warned us an said people found it salty so I asked for no seasoning and just the sause it came with on the side and I thought it was great. I would order it again- but next time well done so it's not soggy. Truffle Fries 10/10 These were a table favorite! They are real fresh potatoes and are rich in truffle flavor no dipping necessary! Heck Burger 10/10 Cooked to my husbands specifications and fresh! Salmon entree 8/10 Falafel burger 10/10 Slightly spicy but filling and homemade! All in all we enjoyed our meal there and the waitress was outstanding and paced our courses well and kept our drinks above 1/2 the entire time. I recommend a nice meal here :)

It was a delicious welcome to Cleveland, a lovely place to have dinner, in the beautiful Ohio City area. Beautifully decorated inside and outside. Food menu was impressive in its variety and unique dishes. Service was excellent. Delicious meal! Street parking was free and easy to find on a weeknight. Thank you!!

Made a reservation for a bachelorette party and we had such a good time. The main dining room is beautiful and had Miss abstract art on the gray walls with natural light coming through the ceiling, reminded me of the rainforest cafe at the Cleveland zoo. Food was good but i expected more mushrooms in my mushroom chicken dish. I highly recommend the tamarind jalapeño margarita!

Avocado salad, shrimp with toasted bread, heck's burger
    Zi D.

Great ambiance and service, however the food fell extremely flat. We started off with their spacious margarita and Chardonnay, both decent. In terms of food, we got the avocado salad and shrimp appetizer, along with the heck's burger. The best thing about our meal was the French fries. Unfortunately the avocado in the avocado salad had that old brown avocado taste which was very unappetizing, and the shrimp looked like store bought frozen shrimp and tasted similar. The burger was also very bland and one note. We politely declined dessert. I think this place is a nice plate to sit out for a drink and maybe fries, the rest I would stay away from

We were looking for brunch on a Sunday. We were at a nearby location and something was off as we waited to be seated/acknowledged for a while. We decided to walk down the street and try Heck's. We were able to get a table at Heck's with ease. It's a much larger space than anticipated. Service was welcoming and attentive. I ordered the champignon omelet. I was a bit worried about the dill being overpowering but the goat cheese helped. The toast was a bun of sorts, which I found too hard. I enjoyed the cantaloupe that were included. Successful Saturday brunch.

Both were delicious! The biscuit was perfectly buttery, and it was covered in a rich, flavorful mushroom gravy and came with scrambled eggs. It was filling but somehow not too heavy. It was topped with a thin layer of rhubarb jam that brought a nice tartness along with a dollop of sorghum butter and whipped cream, and served with Ohio maple syrup on the side. I could have easily had a whole stack of the pancakes. The staff was friendly, and though the place was busy, the service was efficient. Excited to come here again! We shared the loco moski, paprikash sandwich, and a side of bacon wrapped tots (good option if you just want 2 and not the full appetizer). While the bacon wrapped tots are famous from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, I actually liked the loco moski and paprikash sandwich more. The loco moski is a fun combination between a loco moco but with pierogi, and I like that the peppered gravy wasn't too rich. The paprikash sandwich was also a great combo of chicken, sausage, peppers, cheese, paprikash, on lightly crispy bread. Parking available as free street parking--though you may have to circle to find parking since it's near the Christmas House. Staff were nice and efficient. The place does feel a little tight in terms of space with less lighting, but there's still plenty of seating and what matters to me more is good food. Overall, great place to try local food. I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

We were totally fine with that, went and grabbed a coffee from a local shop, and then returned to the restaurant. Food was great and the server was so kind! The reason for the 3-star review is because the hostess was very rude. She completely shattered an easy 5-star review. We had nine people in the family, and one was golfing. We intended to put in a takeout order for him but due to the 45-minute wait, he ended up finishing before we were even seated. We invited him to come along and then we were called to be sat. We ordered his meal for him prior to him arriving and this was still a major problem for the hostess. She basically threatened to move us back outside and told us we were "holding the table" even though we would have never done that. Instead of giving me the opportunity to explain to her we would have done takeout anyways had he not arrived(but he did because again, it was a 45 minute wait), she just continued to talk over me. It made all of us very uncomfortable and the first 10 minutes we felt very on edge and unwelcomed. She then did the same thing to our ninth person when they walked in the restaurant 5 minutes after. He had no idea what had already occurred and was also caught off guard. Most of us worked in this industry in the past, and we thought we were doing the right thing by letting her know. Thank you to everyone else who helped soften our experience. It was very appreciated. Every person who brought a dish to our table was extremely kind. We all had something different on the menu and there were no complaints!

It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted.
