I'm so glad I gave Chai Yo Thai Cuisine a second chance! This time I ordered spring rolls and the duck curry for take out. The spring rolls were good, but the duck curry was absolutely delicious. I asked for spicy and somehow they made it with the perfect amount of spice. There was a little bit of duck fat, but I guess that's to be expected with any duck entree. They were generous with the meat portion. I definitely plan to order this again. My go-to curry is usually the pnang, but I decided to change it up a little tonight. I also stopped by a few days earlier this week to grab a quick appetizer. That was my very first time visiting this restaurant. I tried their crab Rangoon. It wasn't my favorite filling, but other reviewers seem to love the creaminess. It might just be my person preference to have a different filling. Either way, the flakiness and freshness was spot on. Both of my take out orders were prepared quickly. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. The staff member and owner compensated me for the error made during my first visit. They were both friendly and seemed genuinely happy to make it right. I chose to give a bigger tip by putting the extra cash in their tip jar for their excellent service. Also, as I was walking out with my food order, I noticed a gentleman sitting down and ready to enjoy his meal. I greeted him with a "happy new year". I got the impression that he was a regular so I decided to ask him if he had a favorite meal at this restaurant. He responded by saying the Pnang curry is what he ordered this evening, and is also one of his favorites. I shared with him that I just ordered the duck Curry to go, but I usually order pnang He seemed intrigued with the duck. First time here and I will be back! My girlfriend and I went on a last minute date to a place she'd been to before. We really needed comfort food that felt like it was meant to heal you, well that's what I needed because I was have a hard day. We ordered the pancit which was very good 9/10 and we both ordered pho, one beef and one chicken bother were very good the chili oil was different it was more vinegar tasting but it was perfect! The food immediately lifted my spirits ! A women waited on us and she was charming and warm. We only had water to drink and she's the first waitress I've had all year who actually was attentive ! She came and filled my water 3 times before I even knew I was running low. I noticed she knew the orders of regulars as they walked in the door. Transitioning from lacto ovo vegetarian to pescatarian has been exciting because I have been searching for seafood options within the area. I found Chai Yo Thai Cuisine listed #4 as best shrimp fried rice out of others in the surrounding area while in Proviso Township. It was then, I considered, chose and ordered from this restaurant which sat no more than 1.7 miles in distance from my location at the time. As much as I would have loved to have ordered their Pad Thai due to it being a heavy favorite of mine, I ended up ordering the Thai Fried Rice instead, with Shrimp as my protein along with a Ginger Ale as my drink. I never hesitate ordering online via yelp because it is convenient! Most of the time my orders are completed upon my arrival or near complete. By the time I arrived at Chai Yo Thai Cuisine my order was waiting for me behind the counter during this ordering experience. And all picking up my order was, was just a verification that I was picking up a Grubhub order, my name, what I ordered, and I was well on my way. I am always grateful to have a smooth online ordering experience because the likelihood of me ordering online again at the location is very high. Mmmm, "so good!" was the Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp! I am never disappointed in the satisfying taste of Thai Fried Rice and adding Shrimp with it was the cherry on top. The Tom Yum soup had a nice taste to it as well lots of lime flavor and decent portion size for a small. The beef could be better kind of hard pieces, I think the chicken was better. Had both red and green curry and both were distinctively good. I especially like that their curry is thicker than most other thai curries - the consistency of a lighter gravy. Portions are nore generous than many places so you'll probably eat only half and have plenty to take home for a second meal - a second meal worth eating! read more

Absolutely horrible place. I should have known it the second I walked into the place and it was empty. Ordered Pad See Ew and some fried tofu. The paper napkins had more flavor than either of these two dishes. No taste whatsoever. Plus the portions were so stingy for the amount of money that they charge you. Spring rolls were dripping oily and I left them on the paper to soak that dripping oil! After a bite . I will not even describe fried rice and other things! Smell is not on point at all! I even checked if I ordered from the place I wanted to order! My worst experience ever with food since I moved in US. There are a lot of Thai restaurants in the city but it has been hard to find a place as consistently good as chai yo Thai. My mother used to live in Weschester so we would order or go there for family events. She has since moved but we try to get there as much as we can. Picked it up last night and had duck curry and pad kee mao. Both were excellent. In the past we have had their pad Thai, spicy catfish. Cashew chicken and other dishes all consistently great. One of the ladies taking the orders over the phone didn't seem too friendly and looked like she was ready to punch you if you took too long to order, but the woman who came out from the kitchen with my order came out laughing and joking with me. The pad see ew was definitely the best out of the bunch. Not too sweet or greasy. But both the green curry and the pad see ew was spicier than nearby Thai restaurants and for me that makes a huge difference. The tom kha soup was interesting in that I've had this soup all over the U.S. but theirs was really kind of sour. Like they poured vinegar at the end of the cooking process. It was my least favorite item. The shrimp and ginger tasted good, but it definitely wasn't jumbo shrimp. It was more like medium frozen bag shrimp, but the flavor was good. While decent, I probably wouldn't get that particular dish again as it doesn't seem worth the price for the portion. They should not sell pho here. It was simply 6 small pieces of chicken breast in a garlic chicken broth. Not pho at all. They were also too busy when I got there despite no one being in store and one order being made for me to ask any questions about my order. I asked to order more noodles because the portion was small. They said they were out. Then another lady came up, charged me and brought me more noodles. So they clearly aren't on the same page. Later found out that they do not use Vietnamese pho rice noodles either. They are thick Thai noodles. Would not return. read more

I am new to the area, so finding THE best carry out Thai place was really important to me. Two of my three kids are vegetarian, so Chai Yo offered the perfect options for everybody. And delivery was zippy. I like Panang curry -- with chicken. It can't be too hot; nor should it be too sweet. I was pleasantly surprised at the nice balance. And the curry had actual vegetables in it -- sliced carrots and such. Wow. My kids are Pad Thai aficionados and loved this restaurant's tofu version. I like getting appetizers to share -- this place has both vegetarian egg rolls AND vegetarian pot stickers. Usually l, it's pork everything. ALL tasted flavorful, fresh and good. We've been ordering delivery from Chai Yo for the past couple of years. I'm not sure if they changed cooks, but I remember their food being a lot better. It's still pretty good now but it was more flavorful back then. The lunch combo is definitely a great deal, so make sure to check them out. Chai Yo Thai is probably my current favorite spot to eat. The service is always quick and our drinks are never empty. My favorite thing about Chai Yo is their unique ability to make me try new things I wouldn't have, because I know the quality of food they serve are the best in the area. If I were to recommend any pair of dishes I would 100% urge you to try their Crab Rangoon, and their Teriyaki Chicken. Neither taste like traditional dishes I've had in the past, and it's hard for me to settle for the old flavors I was used to anymore. Shumai, pot stickers, egg rolls, & crab Rangoon were great but our dishes, Pad Thai and Pad See Eiw had no flavor! We could taste a vague peanut flavor with the Pad Thai. The See Eiw tasted like the cooked noodles were tossed in a wok and picked up the flavors there. The noodles were firm and cooked well. The vegetables were tender crisp. Meat tender. No flavor.
