The food is fresh and hot. Asked for shrimp fried rice to be spicy. They made it perfectly

I've been wanting to give New China Wok a try for years now. They always seem to have customers coming in and out... But I just don't go traversing into Chinese restaurants with no prior vouching or endorsement from someone I know. Or at least I usually don't.... So I headed to NCW one Saturday and had a large shrimp fried rice and two shrimp eggrolls. The rice was just this side of being totally bland. Which is surprising given that they had sprouts, pods, scallions and a few of the other ingredients I find in the rice I like. But it had only the slightest hint of flavor. The shrimp were tiny and pink which suggested they were either boiled beforehand and added in or just weren't cooked long enough. I would guess the latter, especially since I had a few sections of rice that had were still white due to not being mixed with the soy sauce and fried long enough. Adding soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce helps, but good rice should stand on its on. This rice did not. As for the eggrolls? Meh. I don't know this to be the case, but the eggrolls felt like something a restaurant would order from a large supplier,and then fry them to order. I could be wrong, but I said that because in addition to the eggrolls being extremely bland, they had absolutely nothing colorful or distinctly flavorful within. It was fried perfectly, but had absolutely no punch or flavor, save for adding some sweet and sour sauce. All in All the food was underwhelming but passable. It didn't taste bad, the problem is it barely had any taste at all. The question is: would i order it again? Me thinks not. If I were in a remote town and this was like one of the two Chinese options then maybe. Problem is this is Chicago and you can't go more than a few miles or stoplights without passing a Chinese restaurant. A delicious one at that. read more

The food is great, the service staff needs to work on being more friendlier and customer focused. Some of their staff seem cold and detached. Only interested in getting your money. No common courtesy's exchanged unless initiated by the customer. Not everyone there who takes the orders but most of the women who work there need training on customer service. I'm considering going elsewhere and the only reason why I still patronize this business is because the food is great. read more

Absolutely disgusting lmfao wouldn't eat here again if it was the last meal. Found some crazy looking cartilage in my fried rice. Not sure how they were able to garner a 4.5 rating on Google - customer tastebuds aren't properly functioning since COVID I guess lol. The rice has no flavor...NONE. And it was bare bones. The vegetable roll had a weird aftertaste that was akin to melted plastic. The General Tso sauce tasted super off brand and also had a weird aftertaste. Super glad I bought my food on a lunch special and didn't have to pay a full price dinner fee then I'd be even more upset. I had a feeling this was going to left when I saw how dirty and unkept their smoothie/blended area was after I placed and paid for my order. The lady at the register was rude and barely spoke lmfao. A craving for Asian food led me to ordering from New China Wok online. At the time, the restaurant was one of 8 listed as I searched for Asian food nearest to me in Broadview via Uber Eats. And its 4.7 star rating out of 1000+ was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience. Looking through the menu, I took interest in items like the fillet delight, green pepper fish, shrimp with broccoli, shrimp with lobster, shrimp with mixed vegetables, vegetable chop suey, and crab rangoon. Out of all that caught my eye, I ended up ordering their shrimp with broccoli. Whether it be Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is convenient. Most of the time my orders are completed upon my arrival or near complete. By the time I arrived at New China Wok my order was waiting behind the counter during this ordering experience. Picking up was just confirming my name, phone number and order, and I was well on my way. Grateful to have had a smooth online ordering experience because the likelihood of me ordering online again at the location is very high. During this brief visit, I could not help but take notice of the atmosphere of New China Wok, which presented itself as a welcoming atmosphere to dine-in. As for my order, the shrimp with broccoli came separately along with a box of steamed rice! Immersed in broth was the shrimp with broccoli, I could not help but think to myself how good it looked along with its smell. After my first bite of the rice dipped in broth with either the shrimp or broccoli, I swear my taste buds salivated for more. I highly recommend the shrimp with broccoli if you are looking for a pescatarian option that will surely leave you satisfied. In closing, I had a great experience as I have indicated in this review of New China Wok. And as it was introduced to me via Uber Eats, I share my endorsement of it as well with you all on yelp. This is my go to Chinese place. It's close to home and it is definitely better quality than some of the other places around. Their chef special chicken noodle is the best I've had. Fried rice is above average like usual. Orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken are awesome. Food is always fresh and fast. Service is always quick and easy. Smoothies are amazing. read more

Ordered the following: - Hot & Sour Soup - small - Chicken in Garlic Sauce - small - Chef Special Noodles - combination First and foremost, they don't provide utensils, so make sure you ask for it before you leave. Ended up back at the hotel with no spoons, forks or chopsticks. Thankfully, the hotel had them, just had to go to the front desk, so I was saved :) Chef Special Noodles - Combination - get this if you like noodles. It was perfectly seasoned, tasted that fire flavor from the wok and enjoy the three proteins in the dish - chicken, beef and shrimp. Definitely would re-order this. I would skip on the following two dishes. Soup - they put so much starch that it was like eating thick gravy. Two spoonful and that was end of that. On a side note, the soup was sour, so that was good. Chicken in Garlic Sauce - definitely wasn't what I used to get here in Michigan. I had this at few different Chinese joints in Chicago area and all of them served them in heavy gravy like sauce. It wasn't bad, but could been better with more seasoning. read more

The food is delicious and fresh BUT the customer service is awful. The people that take your order don't really seem like they are grateful for your business. When ever I go to New China Wok, I am never disappointed.... The food is amazing and always fresh.... The service from ordering to the delivery is great.... I live not far from there but I'd drive no matter how far is just how much I love the place.... Shrimp and Lobster sauce is my favorite, but the other dishes are just as delicious.... Delivery drivers can't follow instructions for anything. Ended up getting injured due to the lack of following instructions to ensure driver safety and now I'm out over $400 for their negligence and my dog is now quarantined. Here's proof we said no doorbell no knocking. What did the driver do? Exactly that. HE EVEN OPENED MY PERSONAL SCREEN DOOR and I have THAT on camera too! Called the restaurant to inform them their driver didn't follow instructions and all they cared to tell me was "our driver is in the hospital because of you". In a 5 min driving radius I have about 7 options for Chinese food... which is really a lot now that I think about it. It's not 5 stars as I don't think it's "as good as it gets" but it is my favorite one in the area to come to Lunch specials 12-3pm Monday-Friday (think Saturday too) 5.99 comes with egg roll and chicken fried rice (usually don't want chicken fried rice so have to pay extra for shrimp, beef, or the combination fried rice) I typically get the Orange Chicken and Shrimp Egg Foo Young. love the crisp shrimp and crisp fish. Have gotten a a few of the house specials over the years. Although I slightly like their Thai fried rice more then the regular fried rice. Not worth the extra $4 over the regular fried rice. Not "expensive" as most items are under $10 but priced higher than the other Chinese spots in the area. They have coupons (can't add lunch specials and the amount added up has to be before taxes,) but you want get it unless you say something otherwise they'll keep their mouth shut You can just call a say you have a coupon and they never ask to see it. So if you order something in the price range below just mention you have a coupon. As I was driving home from work, I had a taste for shrimp, but didn't want to pay an arm and leg for it. I pulled up the Yelp app on my iPhone to see what was around. This restaurant was the first to pop up. As long as I've been living in the suburbs, I never been in here. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food, but after I reading the good reviews, I decided to give them a try anyway. I looked at the menu and noticed that the prices are higher than usual for Chinese food. I ordered the small sized jumbo shrimp fried rice for almost 8 bucks. I was feeling a little skeptical because I am a VERY PICKY eater! The order was done in under 5 minutes. The bag was so hot I had to hold the it away from my body. So I got home and noticed 1 thing. They are very STINGY with the shrimp! It's only shrimp on the top and not all throughout the rice like it's supposed to be! Then the shrimp is not even jumbo, it's MEDIUM. But I got to give them their props, the rice is good! The onions, bean sprouts and shrimp were very fresh, and their rice is not greasy unlike other Chinese restaurants. I really appreciate that. I will be going again when I have a taste for Chinese food. Next time, I will just order the regular sized shrimp just to see how much I will get, lol! read more

This restaurant must have two different chefs. One time I ordered and chose to have the food with medium heat. It was bland. The next time, it was really tasty. We had similar dishes both times, so it was really weird. Whomever cooked the second order should definitely continue to cook here. Came in for lunch, I had the small jumbo fried shrimp, & the lunch curry chicken meal. I got my food in 5mins! I was shocked because they were busy. They give you alot of food!!! I got it to go, they added a plate and a bag of condiments, which was UBER cool. Lol I got home my food was still PIPING HOT!!!!!! I enjoyed the jumbo shrimp and have enough left for later, didn't care for the curry chicken just because I'm not a chicken in chinese food type of person. Their portions and prices are good. It tastes like I would expect it to taste. First timer, ordered beef with broccoli, eggdrop soup, an order of spring & egg rolls. At best the beef w/broccoli was edible. The soup had a gelatin consistency. Both spring and egg roll were under cooked. Which also left a strange after taste. Not much more then that. Won't be returning. read more
