Shrimp kow with no bok choy combo, I picked up my ordered within 15 min, so they were fast and the food was hot... but I got bok choy, no egg-roll and no sweet and sour sauce... so you definitely have to check your food before you leave the restaurant. read more

I'm a 30+ year customer who lives approximately 1.45 hrs away. I was in town and placed an order to go. I picked the food up around 9:15pm. We open the food the next day to eat and it was horrible. The rice smelled sour and the shrimp were mushy to the touch. I politely called to inform them about the issue. They wanted me to drive almost two hours back to return the food (terrible customer service). So, I put the sour food into several bags placed it into the freezer and drove back five days later on my off day. Of course I received a full refund but they didn't say SORRY or try to offer any kind of resolution. The gas prices are so expensive and it cost me $60 in gas to travel for a $41 refund. It was the principle! Needless to say they have loss a dedicated customer. I really wish business owners would do better. A company can't succeed without the customers. FYI: make sure to smell your food and check the meat BEFORE leaving the restaurant. It might prevent you the hassle of returning it. read more

I've gotten food from here three times and each time has been worse than the last. I tried the sesame chicken and got a container with too-sweet gloopy sauce covering overly breaded chicken. Seriously, the ratio of breading to meat was like 50-50. Every dish here comes swimming in oil or sauce, making it impossible to enjoy without straining each container to get rid of the ridiculous amounts of liquid. I'm done trying Moon Temple. A qualifier for my review, and to anyone from the south side/Evergreen Park area, my opinion is based on frequenting Lang Lee foods on 95th street and their second location in Orland Park for over 30 years. This, hands down, is the best food I've had since my first experiences at Lang Lee. Every dish has been absolutely amazing and some even better than growing up. I highly recommend this restaurants food, I can not speak to eating in house, have always carried out or delivery. I can say that when my brother comes in from out of town, a meal from here is a must. The food has always been high quality and MY expectations to food temp. for pick up and delivery have been spot on. I will have to start leaving more pictures for more dishes in the future. This review has pics of egg rolls, crab Rangoon, an order of pan fried noodles, Thai chili chicken and Thai chili shrimp. This evening Saturday, September 28, 2024 we had a taste for Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Shrimp Fried Rice from the Moon Temple Chinese Restaurant. Called the order in for pick- up. The lady that took the order is really nice and friendly. The restaurant looked clean. The food was ready when we got there. Last week Sunday, September 22, 2024 was the first time in a long time that I had visited the Moon Temple Chinese Restaurant. Everything was so good and fresh we wanted it again this weekend; however, there must have been a different cook today and/or different staff in the kitchen. I ordered the exact same food items which were Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Shrimp Fried Rice but this week the food wasn't as fresh and it didn't taste as good as it did last week. The Shrimp Egg Foo Young was burnt and I think the Shrimp Fried Rice had been prepared and sitting for a while because it was not freshly cooked. The Shrimp Fried Rice was kinda packed and stuck together and the temperature of the rice was room temperature it was not hot. I called the restaurant and complained about the burnt Shrimp Egg Foo Young which they replaced and I appreciate that; however, I like eating my food together. By the time we got the replaced Shrimp Egg Foo Young the Shrimp Fried Rice was really at room temperature. read more

I am baffled by the positive reviews of this place. I assume a lot of the folks who eat here have just...never been to a good Chinese restaraunt? I love American Chinese but this was straight up bad. 1. Fried rice - was smoky and dark which was nice, but so salty I can literally still feel it inside my mouth after drinking water. 2. Mu shu pork - filling wasn't terrible but the tortillas were literally store bought burrito tortillas. No rice pancakes here. Plum sauce was also crazy salty. 3. Crab Rangoons - also clearly store bought frozen without even a whisper of crab flavor. 4. Special shout-out to the sweet and sour sauce for the Rangoons - holy crap. PUNGENT white vinegar, corn starch, and ketchup mix. Not only was it inedible...it came in a cardboard container. I mean, what?? Don't. Just don't. read more

I have to say that the food there was mediocre, the sesame chicken and the curry fried rice or somewhat decent and I say so much there wasn't enough curry in the fried rice to call it. A curry fried rice is loaded with the shrimp but it's half of the rest of it was all empty with just rice and vegetables, so the people that give it four stars obviously doesn't know what good Chinese food is. I grew up in the city of Chicago visited Chinatown every weekend when I was a child moved to the suburbs found a couple of decent places, but this place I stayed at a rehab facility and ordered a couple of times it was it was pretty disappointing every time I got the food but what can I say never again hope you guys straighten up your act, sorry it's not in Chinese so you can read it. We have been going to moon temple for years even though we are 20 miles away. Loved the food There are new owners now wonderful people , but the food is not the same. Egg rolls and fried rice was wonderful . Chicken chop suey and chicken subgum were very watery.. not thick like usual. Plus the chicken was undercooked. We didn't want to make a fuss because the new owners were so very nice and accommodating . We will probably come back and give it another try. Hope it improves. Like the former recipes . The people are so friendly. Since I order frozen there often they know I'm allergic to shell fish, so they make sure my food is never near any shellfish. My wife just went to Moon Temple to pick up food. She observed the owner playing with two dogs in the dining room area. He did not wash his hands and attempted to give my wife our food which was paid for. My wife asked him if he was going wash his hands. He proceed to put his mask on and take another order before another worker prompted him to wash his hands. During this time of COVID the owner appeared uncaring of sanitary practices. We are regulars there on Sundays as we dine after church and their response, "why did you come this far, you should have got something there". We love to order take out but since moving to the area we have struggled to find a good Chinese place. We've been giving different places a try, and thought this would be the answer to our craving for Chinese takeaway due to the good reviews. What we liked: Delivery was on time, dinner combination option (don't have to order entrees and then fried rice separately), lots of sauce packets. Also as others have said their fried rice is very good. What we didn't like: The food was very bland and quite skimpy on meat for the price. ($10 for Mongolian beef dinner special with barely any meat). The entree strategy seems to be to use as little meat but as much sauce as possible. I ordered chicken and broccoli ($8.75) and was equally unimpressed. Now for the sautéed green beans ($8.55). THEY SUCKED! My hands down favorite side at Chinese places is the Schezwan green beans. I try and try to replicate them but can never get that authentic taste and texture. I am willing to pay a lot for such a cheap ingredient prepared the right way. Sadly, Moon Temple's green beans tasted like they were canned green beans BOILED in a flavor-poor brown sauce. The beans arrive in a typical Chinese take out box (you know the folding white box) and the box is filled to the brim in this thin, uninspiring sauce! They were so bland! I mean, once is a novelty, twice is a bad reputation, but OVER THREE TIMES? This place must not throw their food away, ever! Not bad Chinese food for lunch if you're in a hurry. They have lunch specials for less than 10 bucks which is great. They give you a lot of food for lunch let me tell you. The egg roll is NOT good but the egg foo young is tasty with lotsa gravy like I like it. I've had the beef with broccoli before and it wasn't bad. Fried rice is also pretty good too.
