Checked this spot out an hour prior to seeing the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra perform just around the block, in the Brooklyn Heights area. Enjoyed learning about and tasting some Georgian Corn-Bread and Khinkali Lamb with a 2020 Georgian red wine. The staff was super kind and efficient. We were here on Saturday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend and the restaurant was about half full and we were able to choose our table. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. My complaint is that the ambience was somewhat lacking for the liking of us senior citizens. The height of the chairs and tables was such that it seemed the chair was too low or the table was too high and that made eating slightly uncomfortable. Some tables were located in dark corners so we asked to be seated where there was more light. Also, the music was electropop which we found to not be enjoyable. As in many newer restaurants these days, there are many hard surfaces which causes an echo when people conversing. So. in conclusion, we enjoyed the food and service, but the atmosphere, not so much. read more

I came to Chama Mama last week with a friend and we were seated towards the front in a nice booth. Our server was Mariam and she was great. She suggested some wine that we agreed to try and it paired really well with what we ordered! The floor manager Melissa was very attentive and came over a few times to make sure everything was going well and we were enjoying our meal. The food was really good, but some items were on the pricey side such as the Georgian salad and the portion was small. Overall a great atmosphere and experience. What a gem! Had a dinner there yesterday and let me tell you I almost forgot how real tomatoes taste like. That's to say everything was so fresh and delicious. My partner and I came here last night after quickly finding somewhere to eat and this restaurant did not disappoint. We did not have a reservation and it was close to their closing time but they were able to seat us right away without an issue. We had the crispy potatoes, along with other recommended items and everything hit the spot. The server was thorough and very attentive. He went into detail while explaining the menu, and the manager greeted us with a warm welcome, all while checking in on us multiple times throughout the experience. When we were about to head out, the manager asked if we would like to try Georgian Grappa and that was the perfect end of the night. My partner and I will be back asap. Went to their Chelsea location few times over the years and decided to order from this location. First of all the amount of salad they put was kind of offensive, literally like two table spoons of salad. Chicken was very soggy and mediocre just not as flavorful you would expect from a Georgian restaurant. Honey cake was burned and stale looking like some dish washing sponge, napoleon was okay but tasted kinda old. Overall very disappointing and would never go to their restaurants again, $100+ for a takeout that went halfway into a garbage. read more

What a great addition to a neighborhood that is "restaurant-challenged." Can't say enough great things about it. They did a spectacular job on the decor which was previously Le Pain Quotidien. The staff are at the top of their game. The food was simply marvelous. Not being familiar with this type of cuisine, we relied on our waitress to suggest a bunch of items that we'd all share. Adjaruli Khachapuri was so delicious with its creamy egg and cheese mixture. Georgian dumplings were so yummy and unique. Homemade potatoes with eggs and mushrooms were amazingly good. Georgian style pancakes with berries are a must-have. I seriously doubt there's anything on the menu which isn't great. Will go back and I encourage you to try it! One of the best dining experiences we've had in a while! Both food and service were top notch. We had the Adjaruli (their delicious dough with cheese and cracked egg), dumplings, mushrooms and pickles. All the flavors were perfectly balanced and it was evident that a lot of love and pride went into their food. The restaurant has high ceilings and is open and airy. They also did a beautiful job on the decor. The staff was absolutely lovely and knowledgeable. We are actually considering going back twice in one week because there was so much more to try on the menu! read more

Meh. This is how i would describe this place. First off, i have an unfair advantage, I'm Eastern European background and have had legit Georgian food but i have to say the flavors are there. Food itself is not bad, a tad on the salty side but definitely decent (though my husband's pork kebab was far too fatty, more fat than meat). The thing that still bugs me about this place is the portions. Like WOW. The teeniest tiniest little portions you have ever seen in your life! The apps are mostly spreads but come with zero bread and so you have to buy it as an extra, and when you buy it it's the smallest piece of bread you have ever seen in your life. I ordered the roast veggie app which was tasty (though swimming in a puddle of oil) and brace yourself- i literally took a teaspoon full and half the portion was gone. It's wild how small the portions are. The mains are mostly meat and come with no sides and no sauces (but feel free to pay an extra $3 for some sauce) a real Georgian restaurant on Brighton Beach would be appalled at paying extra for sauce, its highway robbery! Mind you this is not for extra sauce it's for sauce period. Also no veggies or bread with the meat, just heres a plate of some sausages enjoy. Dude, for the prices they charge thats unacceptable. I left hungrier than when i came in (and I'm a pretty thin woman). Anyway I will not be returning. I will say service was good and waiters were all very lovely. Ambiance cute too. I'll start with some things I liked: the menu is varied and allows one to eat fairly inexpensively as well as quite expensively. There are many servers, good natured and responsive. As for the food, what I have had there in one sitting, was just fair. In particular, the bread, of which much is made, lacked character. And what most disappointed me was the music which was often played so loud that often I could barely hear those I was with, given the addition of many children's voices. We ordered the cheese bread & it was served with theatrics amounting to another waiter whipping in the egg yolk for a couple of minutes. It still laid heavy in our bellies for quite a while. The chicken kabob was burnt on the outside & a funny rare-dish texture on the inside. the place was nice, the service was good, but the lamb chop was awful. it was the saltiest thing I had ever eaten before. It was un edible and after having one bite the saltiness lingered on my younger for 10 minute. We sent it back because they said its not pre seasoned and they could make it with less salt. When the brang another order of lamb chops it was as salty as the last order. So disappointing for a 45$ dollar dish. The dumpling were fine, and the cheese bread is also good. read more
