Giving them one star, and that's being incredibly generous because the food was tasty, but still overpriced and not worth it at all. Other than that, I would not step foot in this establishment or ever recommend to anyone. I went here to celebrate my birthday and it started off great because they were able to accommodate my party without reservations. They also gave me an initial impression that they were thoughtful because they asked me about my allergies (I'm deathly allergic to walnuts and pecans). We were seated and our server asked again about allergies--great, they're being double careful--love that. But beyond this, things went incredibly downhill. The music was too loud, imo. When I go to a restaurant, I want to eat and be able to have a conversation with the person next to me. But the volume of the music made me feel like I was at a club. Couldn't hear my sister sitting next to me at all. Before we decided on entrees, we ordered the mixed salad because that was one of the only options that did not include nuts (picture of menu included). They proceeded to bring out an huge bowl of salad COVERED with walnuts. After showing the server menu of the exact salad that I wanted, not listing any nuts, he continued to insist that the served salad was correct and it included nuts. First of all, I thought the customer was always right?? But he kept insisting and even kept the death salad at our table to "check with the chef." Second of all, even if the salad was correct, why the false advertisement on the menu when nuts was not a listed ingredient? Why would the server not say anything about the walnuts being included after we JUST told him I'm allergic?? All while we were waiting 30 mins for a salad SIN NUEZ, they did an elaborate birthday celebration for me and put a slice of cake on the table. Which made no sense considering we hadn't even eaten our appetizer, and they didn't even bother taking our entree order yet! That was freakin weird. We finally ordered our entrees, ate, and decided that we were ready for the birthday dessert that they set at our table earlier...only to be told that we had to PAY for that and the sparkler and cake display was just for show?? Never in my life have I ever been to a steakhouse, much less a restaurant claiming to be "upscale," that put down a slice of cake on my table, take it away, then tell me I had to pay for it???? Absolutely abhorrent service. I'm upset that I spent even a penny at this place when there are so many restaurants in CDMX that would offer a better and quieter experience that won't pop my eardrums and try to feed me food that would kill me.

Interesting place, to say the least. You enter through a dress/clothing store, that also happens to display the dry aged meats ‍ The service is fantastic and there is some type of entertainment provided during service. Ours was a solo guitarist and a periodic fashion show, with model and clothing for the shop we entered through? All that aside, the food was solid and I would recommend without hesitation

Filet steak was delicious. Atmosphere was very cool, with some live music and dancers. Not the best place to have a conversation though.

Cambalache is an Argentine steakhouse, which is reflected in the style of grilling their meats (over an open flame, which can be viewed at the back of the restaurant), and the service of the meat itself (a La plancha, at the table). We chose the ribeye (600-700g) to share. It was perfectly cooked to medium temperature, and sliced for us tableside. A beautiful cut of meat, and very flavorful. The side dishes were tasty, too (the soufflé potatoes are a signature, and they're fun to try/share). Speaking of tableside prep, I highly recommend saving room for the strawberries Romanoff - our server spent about 20 minutes whipping a combination of vanilla Haagen Dazs, Grand Marnier, cream, and fresh-sliced strawberries into a fluffy concoction that was divinely yummy. Our youngest diner insisted on coming back to Cambalache a second time, a week later, just to have it again. It's not on the regular postre menu, so be sure to ask your server about it.

When we went cocktails were buy on get one free, which put it at normal CDMX pricing. Cocktails are made well here. As for food, we got beef carpaccio, grilled octopus, truffle fries, rib eye cap and bone marrow tacos. More than enough food for 4 people. We actually had left overs and ate it 2 days later at the airport and it was still delicious!! The rib eye was cooked to perfection. Ask for salt service and they bring out a variety of salt to try on your steak, not that it needed it, just fun to try. The octopus was delicious too. So tender. The bone marrow tacos were good but very rich. But the end of our rich meal, we were t able to finish it. They finished it off with some fresh hot churros for us. Great experience! Trying to go to Sonora Prime anytime I get a chance, luckily it's in all major Mexican City.

Overall great service, good food. Their specialty is steaks and they don't disappoint. I didn't go with a steak this time, I am glad I decided to have the lengua. The gravy type sauce that goes with it is so full of flavor.

I was hesitant to go in with the music but decided to anyways. Am I ever glad that I did! Miguel and Bryan were amazing. They offered their suggestions for drinks as well as our meal. I decided to have the Duck Dumplings, Artichokes, and Mexican raised beef with asparagus as the side. The meat was extremely tender and perfectly cooked, the dumplings tasted great, and the bread before the meal was amazing! I look forward to returning! I wish that I had remembered to take a photo of the steak!

The wine list is pretty expensive and the wine display upon entry is pretty impressive. The outer dining room is by far nicer than the indoor room, though you are subjecting yourself to the smoking section if that's the path you choose. Like most high end restaurants in Polanco, you can expect loud, out of place music with videos on large screens that attempt to match the beat. I've had the Caesar salad here, the Tomahawk steak and the beef ribs. The ribs were by far my favorite. They fell right off the bone and didn't need an ounce of additional sauce or seasoning. The complimentary bread is a nice touch and their seasoned butter is great. The dessert selection is pretty vast, with about 10 different options. The chocolate layer cake is insanely good, but feeds an entire table so bring back up.

I did not have any chicken from the grill and I'm not a big fan of the sausages. It was still good. The service was great but the staff does not speak much English per one of the Google reviews I saw when searching for an Argentinian cuisine. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and the bread basket was great. The restaurant pretty emptied when we came at 7:30pm for our reservation but it slowly filled up. We chose to sit in the outdoor seating area unfortunately we were bit by mosquitoes. Our waiter was very professional and attentive. They had excellent wine selection as well as alcoholic beverages. There was only two of us, but yet we still chose to go with the grilled meats options, which comes with five variety of cuts. Rib meat, filet mignon, sirloin, and flank steak. Our waiter warned us that that will be too much food, but we insisted and he was absolutely right. We also ordered a baked potato and a cream spinach. Cream spinach is the style in which the spinach leaves are left in tact as opposed to someplace in the US where the spinach is finely chopped. The meat was served over a hot charcoal grill that was brought to our table. If you choose to keep the meat warm or cook it further you can because the grill is hot enough to cook on it. My favorite meat turned out to be the rib meat as it is more fatty, and it was well salted. Filet mignon was good and lean as it should be. None of the meat were marinated. I believe the only marinade used was salt pepper in some garlic. they also asked us if we wanted to get local Mexican meat or import meat. After inquiry, I discovered that import means US imported meat. We chose the local meet and it was perfect .
