I came here for a dating event last month and was pleasantly surprised by this bar! That night they were offering a variety of mocktails and low-alcohol cocktails, and I'm not sure if they usually have these available but they were great! The bar is awesome and is much more spacious than it initially appears. We ordered a few of the snacks from the menu like the fries and potato balls and they were interesting- I'm not sure if we'd order them again but they weren't bad. Chambers is the onsite restaurant/bar/venue space attached to the Phoenix Hotel. While I did not eat here, I did stop in for an after dinner drink our first night in SF before heading back to our room. It's just so inviting, I couldn't pass it up. The decor of Chambers mirrors that of the Phoenix itself - it has a heavy music theme but is a smidge more upscale with classy wood finishes throughout the space and hundreds (if not thousands) of vinyl records lining the shelves of the perimeter. While there is an entrance for the pubic on Eddy St, you can enter through the courtyard if you're a hotel guest. In addition to the main bar/restaurant area, there is a back room which contains another bar and a large open floor with a DJ booth. I'm assuming this is a multi-use event space since the hotel hosts several artists throughout the year - it seems like a perfect spot both functionally and aesthetically speaking. I can also see private parties being held back here. When we arrived around 10pm they had finished dinner service but the bar was still open. I was feeling a cocktail, and their vodka drink was speaking to me so I went with that. It was smooth, refreshing, and so good I decided to get another. Service was fast and friendly, and overall I found Chambers a solid spot to grab a drink. If you're going alone, I would not recommend it. Even with others, I felt very much on guard during the walk from the closest parking garage to the restaurant. Upon arriving, the smell of pee engulfed our noses. The doors are big and heavy, and also very much peed on. There was pee dripping down from the door onto the floor. The entrance itself also had puddles of pee. We needed to bend over, stretch the arm out to open the door, and hop over the puddles. It stinks pretty bad. Once you're inside, you're good though. It is an incredibly chill vibe to drink at and to eat here next to the books, records, and by the pool. It's a bigger restaurant and has a lounge feeling. The food here is not too expensive, but it tastes like it should be! For the price, it's certainly impressive. The drinks are wonderful and we loved each cocktail. The food quality from the items we tried was amazing. If you're willing to get through the walk and into the door, this is a spot to try. read more

We made reservations for a weekend brunch and when we arrived we were a bit surprised to find out that we were the only group in the restaurant. Now, I will leave it up to you to read into an empty restaurant during a weekend brunch in SF--good sign? Bad sign? Those thoughts left my head because I was impressed with the interior space; it is like a man cave retro audio room meets a bar, very nice. The food, on the other hand, was rather mundane to high average. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was expecting a sweet and salty, juicy, meal. But, both the waffles and chicken were dry; the saving grace was that the taste balance of sweet and savory was on point so the plate was cleaned. I got to try their brunch burger, which is a conglomeration of beef, fried egg, candied bacon, harissa aioli, cheddar cheese, hollandaise. served with fries. This dinner restaurant sits on the property at the Phoenix hotel and shares a common side with the interior poolside courtyard. During the pandemic this eatery appears to inly be open for dinner service from 5pm to 9pm and it caters to the hotel guests specifically with I am assuming a small walk in crowd feom outside the compound. All of the staff I encountered, three or four people, were all under face cover, professional, friendly and kind. My server brought me water with my menu and then mentioned the nights specials. The menu looked good with several different choices and something for most tastes. After perusing the menu, I opted for the evenings special - fried chicken with bbq beans and sweet cornbread. I ordered a Pacifico with my dinner. A cold beer with my meal appeared within less than 15 minutes of ordering, the fried chicken was okay, a little heavy on the breaded coating for my likes but it was still okay. The bbq beans were good bit a small portion and the sweet cornbread may have been the highlight of the meal. Served in a small cast iron skillet it was absolutely delicious and the best part of my meal. The servers are all professional, the service is pretty quick, the food okay, the beer cold. This poolside locale is comfortable for outside dining al fresco. Though it was very windy the night of my visit the wind block partitions and exterior space heaters everywhere helped offset the night winds and chill. 3 Stars - it served its purpose for a close to my hotel meal - literally across the pool area from my room. Chambers is absolutely amazing. I've spend one of my most memorable and best New Year's Eve here about 7 years ago for dinner and after party. It was one for the books! My point is I've come back this year multiple times, yet again to be swooned by the customer service and amazing food. It's STILL such a vibe!!! When I tell you that I was lost until I walked in, I truly was. When walking up to the bar, you really don't see it. This place is attached to the Phoenix Hotel so the entrance isn't immediately noticeable until you walk PAST the Pheonix Hotel entrance on Eddy Street. There, you will see the black door that lets you into this swanky bar! We sat inside since it was a little cold outside, but you can overlook the pool area and there were some heaters as well for outdoor seating, if I am not mistaken. The bar has a very elegant and elevated vibe. We did not get food, but grabbed drinks. The drinks are reasonably priced ($13 - $15) for a specialty cocktail and a martini. The service was great, with the waitress being able to help giving recommendations on what to get from the cocktail menu / what she liked / what picky drinkers like us would like versus not. I loved the fact that it was not as busy for a Thursday evening (~7pm time around there). I would go back and try the food for sure as well as bringing others to this bar. I enjoyed the brunch burger, although I ordered it medium rare it arrived well done (Boo!!).. brisket/chuck blend burger topped with fried egg, candied bacon, cheddar, harissa aioli, and hollandaise accompanied by fries, this burger has all you want in a brunch burger (points off for messing up the cook- medium rare would have been awesome). One of my friends had the New York steak & eggs, and man was that good! Juicy New York strip with green garlic chimichuri (they got the medium rare cook on that right!) served with eggs and crispy patatas bravas with pimento aioli.. so good! This restaurant is really unique in many ways. I feel like this hotel used to be a motel 6, got bought out, and transformed into a boutique hotel from LA. Me and some friends had dinner and celebrated my bday. I thought their burger was cooked perfectly, steak was grilled perfectly, and their desserts were delicious. I was given a free tiramisu cake with a candle! The food is a bit too pricey though with my table of 8 paying over $500! That's a lot of money for some tapas style food. Their cocktails are delicious especially the Santeria! I would def come back again but more for the lounging and drinking. I was SO excited to come here for Valentine's Day. And yes, if we're just rating the ambiance this gets a 5/5. But this is about the food. Me and my boyfriend love going to nice restaurants for special occasions, or whenever we're in the mood. I say that to emphasize my next point, which is that I have a pretty good idea about price point versus quality of food. To be transparent, this place charged us nearly $200 for a few dishes that were NOT up to par with the price, ambience, and expectations. Carrots with couscous: the carrots were burnt and extremely dry. You don't have to taste it, you can tell from looking at my picture. The couscous was well cooked but bland. Octopus appetizer: very overcooked and rubbery. Octopus is one of my favorite appetizers that I love to order at restaurants when it is on the menu, and this was a real let down. The sauce, minced veggies, and rice base was good. Mac & cheese: don't get me wrong this was good, but it tasted SO average. Like mac & cheese I make at home. We couldn't taste a single drop of truffle which is the "uniqueness" of this mac & cheese. Pork: this was my favorite dish! The mustard seeds gave the dish such balance with the savory meat and the sweet applesauce. Which leads me to my next point, the house made applesauce was sent from the gods. Very textures, natural sweetness, and a great pair with the pork. Steak: this was good, cooked too rate for my liking despite asking for "medium." The chimichurry sauce poured on top was the star of the show, the meat didn't have much flavor without the sauce. Hazelnut cheesecake: exactly as delicious as you're imagining it. It tasted like a Nutella cheesecake! But with more richness, depth, and it was a pretty big slice. This place was on our list for a while, my boyfriend was especially excited because he had been waiting months to check this place out. Why I liked it was there is a hotel next to it called Phoenix or Chambers is located within Phoenix hotel? If you plan to drink a little too much, I would suggest to stay here. ;-) Pretty decent hotel inside for what they offered. Just don't go outside! Haha They have a pool and lounging chairs next Chambers. The neighborhood of this place is very questionable though!! We didn't park in one of the parking garages but on the street probably two blocks away. The two blocks that we passed were filled with homeless people!! Hella ghetto! One of the guys even pee'd in the middle of the street and in front of me?! Totally gross! So watch out! The one bartender was hustling but friendly, on point and our drinks never empty! They need more staff though. There is a lot of lounging chairs inside. There is a small dance floor or space to dance anywhere. In the front area of Chambers, it's an actual restaurant. Do not ask me about that since I haven't had it but the drinks. We would come back here again if I was to host a gathering. I would definitely need one of the rooms to stay next door though! Disclaimer: A little scary walking to this place from the Civic Center Bart station to be honest. But then again, I'm kinda sheltered, weak in the knees and have a sensitive sense of smell. The space is amazing and super hip with hundreds of old records lining the bookshelves. I felt too square to be in a place this cool. What drew us here was all the awesome pics of that pork belly! I had to order something else so that we could try two entrees and eyed the Japanese Wagyu Burger for brunch. Verdict: we were slightly disappointed in the execution of the coveted pork belly! The meat portion wasn't as tender and the skin was not crispy, but chewy instead. One of the two soft boiled eggs was perfectly cooked, but the potatoes were done well. The portion of pork belly has decreased since the first pics were posted while the price has increased. Hmmm. The wagyu burger was really yummy and we were pleasantly surprised that our second choice turned out to be the winner. Deliciously moist patty with a crispy coating on the outside was soo good. Crisp, thin fries completed the meal of course. The food was good, but I don't think I'll return unless I Uber here. Went on a Friday night. It was elegant and the service was great! We ordered most of the appetizers, they were all delicious besides the bone marrow, I remember it being very salty. The sizzling Kobe beef came in a very small amount and was medium rare just how I like but the pork belly! It had a crisp when you bite it and it melts right in your mouth. They handled every detail and we literally didn't have to worry about a thing. Every staff member who worked was so friendly and helpful. Our friends who stayed at the phoenix had great things to say about the hotel: quiet rooms, comfy beds, great pillows, and an amazing front desk staff. She was hungry so the apps flew at us quick. Starts with an artisan cheese and fruit plate, scarce but delicious, Brussels spouts, totally yummy, and ceviche, smoky flavored and delicious also. Poolside Saturday dining was an afternoon treat in the private courtyard of the Phoenix Hotel, ringed with some pretty snazzy looking floor to ceiling glass pool-vow rooms. High quality skillfully prepared Spanish tapas, irresistible French toast, brunch burger with egg and fries, fresh fruit yogurt parfait. Great bartender, too, mixed me a memorably refreshing non-alcoholic grapefruit margarita with just a tiny splash of grenadine. On site parking is a big plus, but limited. read more

Located on the Phoenix Hotel property, Chambers is a real hidden gem in Tenderloin. So hidden that finding it is a little confusing - the entrance is on Eddy St through the brown double doors. Chambers has a GORGEOUS inside... the ambiance is so chic and modern with walls divided by shelves of records. There's even that "BE AMAZING" sign at the bar which seems iconic to this place. This is a nice place in Tenderloin for a romantic and intimate date. Too bad they sat us OUTSIDE despite having reservations. I was pretty peeved when I found out later that they had 2 reservation systems, and for that particular night there were a lot of conflicts in the system for bookings. I really would have loved to sit inside and enjoy the decor... but had to settle for a heated outdoor patio next to the pool. Don't get me wrong - the pool at Phoenix Hotel is gorgeous, but our view wasn't so great since they had put down wall drapes in the patio wall. So we could see the pool through a plastic screen. On the bright side, it was quieter so I could hear my partner better, but it also made for a kind of eeriness. Aside from that slight oversight, the food is geared towards Asian fusion and is pretty damn good. We had a Gilt City voucher for a $150 dining credit (paid $80), so we ordered a bunch of small plates to try a variety. Our server was nice enough to space them out like courses, thus we had the following: - Sizzling Kobe Tri-Tip ($16): THIS WAS DELICIOUS... ~6 slices of kobe beef still cooking on a sizzling stone. I like my meat medium rare, so it was nice to control that. Because the beef is already sliced, you can taste the delicious meat juices at full capacity without cutting into it. Honestly the yuzu-soy sauce did nothing for this meat - it was delicious on its own. So delicious that we ordered it twice since the portion is pretty tiny. - Pancetta Wrapped Dates ($9): I had high hopes for this, but at the end of the day it was lackluster. It wasn't bad... but it tasted so generic. I would've been fine with just bacon wrapped dates from Starbuck's late night menu. I would pass as you're paying $3 per skewer. - Oyster Bao Bun ($12): These were surprisingly good! Oysters crispy and bao was fluffy/tasty on its own. The remoulade sauce and tabasco gave it a nice Creole kick. It was an interesting combination of Creole + Asian flavors. Too bad the portion was quite small (3 per serving), but we ordered 2 of these anyways. - Potato Gnocchi ($14): Sauce and mushrooms were on-point. The gnocchi itself is kind of soggy - still tasty, but I expect a bit of bite and chewiness in my gnocchi. - Crispy Pork Belly ($15): Honestly this was disappointing - not only is it expensive for the portion, it's not very crispy and the texture of the soft fat is kind of unappealing. Flavor wise it was kind of all over the place with the fig chutney and bacon sherry sauce - it just didn't go well together. - Fried Brussel Sprouts ($8): 2nd best thing we had that night... the portion surprised us because it was so big compared to the rest of the dishes! The brussel sprouts are flash fried so they get that really nice char flavor. Tossed with the Gochujang sauce, you get a nice Korean spice that goes well with the savory Parmesan cheese. This was well worth the price. - Alive ($12): Cucumber, mint, agave, and vodka - what's not to like? It was a refreshing drink that paired well with all the savory items I had. I prefer my drinks on the sweeter side, but this had a good balance of being strong and sweet. They also have non-alcoholic cocktails for designated drivers... unfortunately I couldn't remember the names of them, but my companion had a carrot juice + yuzu cocktail that they seemed to enjoy, It certainly looked like a cocktail - way to make those designated drivers not feel left out. Overall... good food and great ambiance (assuming you sit outside in the winter and not in the covered patio). Portions are small and pricey, but if you come here with a discounted voucher or only want drinks with a few bites (Kobe Tri-Tip and brussel sprouts), then it's well worth it IMO. read more

I love their interior décor, as it has a retro vibe that brings you back to the time when records were popular. The egg in a hole was delicious, although a very simple dish. We asked for medium poached eggs, and the yolk was just the right amount of runniness. The toast was toasted perfectly! The soufflé pancake was also tasty as well, but I had to adjust my taste since it was thicker/heavier than previous pancakes I've had. I loved how the maple ice cream, berry sauce, and berries complemented the pancake. The service is super nice, and our waitress even switched out our plates and silverware in between our courses! This restaurant can be a little hard to find, but it's not called a hidden gem for nothing! read more

My friend who I was staying with lives in the area so thanks to Yelp, I found this place so we could brunch before heading out for a day of me being an SFO tourist. We were seated instantly and at 11am it wasn't busy yet. I had a French press coffee and the granola with yogurt. My friend had OJ and made her own plate of challah toast with eggs. Everything was fresh and good, and the service was great too. Solid local brunch spot. read more

I came during June 2020 when limited outdoor seating was allowed. It was cold but they have heat lamp around, which was good enough. I ordered the Chambers Chopped Salad with the Medium-rare Salmon, which laid on a bed of corn purée, shishito peppers, mixed corn salsa, paired with a glass of Orsianna Cabernet Sauvignon.
