Drove past this place so many times due to its location off 206. But finally, I made it a point to stop here before a hike, and so glad I did! What a cute deli inside, packed with so many freshly made options, both pre-made or custom ordered. I struggled a bit between all the options but the friendly staff were patient and helped me with my decision-making. I settled on a chicken salad sandwich, a pesto orzo side, and a refreshing tea. I really loved how light but filling everything tasted... it was all perfect. I could definitely see myself stopping by again to pick up some new flavors, trusting in the quality and freshness of everything here. The layout of the store is bright and beautiful, showcasing its enticing foods. I've been here too many times to count for the sandwiches (I wish they were still made to order instead of to-go!), but this time I grabbed a frittata and bread. The frittata of the day was zucchini and tomato. I got it heated and ate it soon after. The wonderfully burnished cheesy top gave way to a soft, almost custard-like interior. The frittata was tender and surprisingly juicy from the sweet and vibrant veggies. This was a great light breakfast. The bread is slightly firm and quite a bit of bite. For me the bread is too firm to easily enjoy. It's not your crusty bread, but it has good flavor. Like the bread, some options at Lucy's are middling. This wouldn't feel as rough if the items weren't so expensive. Most of the food is good, and I would come by more regularly if there were cheaper options. read more

So I do really like the food at Lucy's. BUT if I am hoing to pay a PREMIUM for the food, I will also 2 gripes: 1. I have already called their management about the absurd $.50 extra charge for mayo after purchasing the $13 dollar turkey sandwich. If I buy your sandwich which BTW is pre-made, I shld not be charged any add'l money, however small, for condiments. 2. Customer service is NOT GOOD. There are 2 fairly young individuals, maybe brother/sister? ( behind the counter...even when standing there they are slow to help, whisper to each other when they should be assisting customers, just completely unprofessional.) While I thought I was being treated differently bc I complained about the above issue, I can see from past reviews that this is an ongoing issue. We went here for lunch because I had read that Luci's had high quality, local food. We were looking for a sandwich and found much more. Perfectly cooked chickens and roasted turkey sandwiches, Italian sausages - served hot and/or cold. Daily specials. The roast turkey with cranberry was especially good. In fact, so good, we returned the next day. Plus Luci's really doubles as a market for busy people who want a great meal, but maybe don't have time (or the skill) to cook it themselves. So good, we returned with friends and they got a lot of stuff for takeout - lasagna, pasta - all exceptional. Don't forget the Chocolate Chip cookies - so warm and comforting. I have heard of and drove past this place so many times and finally decided to stop by on a whim. Everything looks fresh and homemade, I was tempted to get a little of everything. They have a variety of prepared and frozen food, fresh squeezed organic juices, coffee, muffins, and various grocery items. The star of the show is of course the ravioli, which I have yet to try. Blasphemy, I know! They are a bit pricy but I am okay with paying a little extra for good (make that great) quality. For now I may have to stay away but I will definitely be stopping in when I start eating carbs again. In the midst of a little strip of stores on route 206 lies this gem of a deli. In my opinion, most delis end up being a disappointment due to low quality food and overall poor food diversity. Well, Lucy's kitchen separates itself from the rest by providing fresh food that is both delicious and diverse. I ordered a fresh turkey sandwich (not cold cuts, but actual turkey meat) which came with cranberry sauce and tomato, and also a side order of cole slaw. There is a very small amount of seating off to the side by the window, so I parked it over there and had my meal. The sandwich was delicious. It came on a roll and went perfectly with the cranberry sauce and tomato. It was evidently fresh and very filling. The cole saw was also delicious as it was not your usual sweet tasting slaw that's too heavy on the mayo. It also didn't taste like it had been sitting around for days. This is definitely a place I'll coming back to more often. Great food, high quality and fair prices. read more

I like that this place exists. The sandwiches are great. The smoked turkey and Gouda is incredible and I dont even like smoked turkey. Overall I think they take a great deal of pride in the food and it shows. The ravioli are great, the sauces are very good, the prepared salads and roasted vegetable are very well done. The brussell sprouts are incredible. I do think that others would score this place lower though. The service is abysmal, the staff is dismissive and rude. I dont have thin skin at all, have been in the military (they yell at you) and have worked in food service. To be honest I kinda feel bad for the staff. I cant help but think that they were raised by wolves or are victims of domestic violence. They have shown very little capacity for basic civility much less customer service. Maybe the place is cursed and once you start working there your life falls apart, your emotions beaten down, your dreams crushed like a japanese fisherman in a godzilla movie. I dont know if I will ever know for certain. But for me, good food cures most ills. And the food here is very well done. For this the staff has my thanks and my continued business. It's a little bit of South Philly or the Northend (Boston) transplanted in Princeton. I counted THIRTY-FIVE varieties of fresh ravioli to take home, at least 15 types of sauce, and a bunch of spaghetti flavors. This is in addition to their amazing sandwiches, and prepared salads and pasta dishes. They also have numerous varieties of Italian cheeses you can buy by the pound and some of the tastiest cookies ever. The ravioli making operation is in the back, and is viewable through a glass wall. They typically always have lasagna, eggplant parm, meatballs, garlic and olive oil tossed veggies along with a bunch of seasonal items. One of my favorite items is their linguini dish. It is simple and delicious. Fresh linguini tossed with olive oil, salt, shredded cheese and toasted walnuts. They also offer a variety of fresh made sandwiches and paninis ($8 or less). While most are always available they have daily sandwich and soup specials. Sign up for their daily email and they will send you the specials. They have a small selection of cheeses, olive oils, olives, baked goods and specialty bottled drinks (non alcoholic). This is definitely a take out type place but there is a thin bar height counter with seating for 8. Lucy's has a little bit of everything to ease your gourmet cravings of fresh pasta, fresh sandwiches or other tasty treats. The quality is excellent but be prepared to pay for it. The best deal they have is their sandwich selection which all fall around $8 for a large sandwich. Another reason, besides price, to knock them down a star is service. At times the people behind the counter are extremely friendly and happy to serve you. However, I often encounter people who force smiles from behind their "resting bitch face" in a sad attempt at customer service. It's off putting and their attitudes at times can be a bit disrespectful considering the amount of money they expect you to pay for their items. Both are always excellent no matter what I choose, great breads, great quality of meats and cheese, and well assembled sandwiches (this is important to me). While the service may not be hyper friendly or anything, I've honestly never had any problems, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. A few years back I had a "ravioli tasting" party and bought a wide variety of pastas and sauces. Every single one was excellent. It is clear that quality is the priority here and it shows. I can deal without a smile from an employee on occasion, and no one has ever been rude to me (even when I use a debit card, unlike some other lunch businesses in the area), and my order is always done right, even when I customize. Lucy's is a convenient though high priced take out spot in the Princeton area. Fresh and frozen pastas are very good, but the Bolognese sauce is as good if not better than many restaurants. Better prepared foods than any supermarkets too. My advice: go with the excellent sandwiches, soups, or ready made salads. My personal favorite, the roast turkey/Brie. Very good bread selection too. I am just going to reinforce what many other reviews have already called out. The food, nothing short of amazing, it's a great option for a quick tasty dinner. We pick up for parties, etc and always a hit. Everyone gets what they want, you can get multiple choices. Now the service, whole it's never been so bad I just won't spend my money there, it's not a good as I would hope for when compared to the prices. It's a balance, you want to charge premiums, the service has to be there. I am always using Lucy's catering and today I finally went to the shop for the first time to bring sandwiches home for dinner. Apparently the "today's menu" items are only available for lunch, but instead of just telling me that, the person who wound up helping me was quite gruff about there not being any paninis left, gesturing grandly to illustrate that there was no one there making them an hour before close- as if I should have known. It was all rather unpleasant (except for the kind young woman who rang me up) and then, to add insult to injury, I came home to find that none of the sandwiches were marked. Nothing like passing sammies around the table until you find yours! Worse, one ordered with onion had literally a single begrudging ring on it- as if the sandwich artist was insulted by the addition. But, better than that, another was cut horizontally instead of vertically. What kind of heathen decapitates a sandwich?? Obviously not the end of the world, but really no reason to return. read more

It's easy to save money by keeping things up to their expiration date but I can tell Lucy throws food out if it's not absolutely fresh. I've been going to Lucy's for years, even though I moved further away. I fell in love with their Chicken Milanese and roasted salmon right away. And they have ruined plain steamed broccoli for me ( which I used to make myself). I don't know what they do to their broccoli, but it's crisp (I hate when broccoli is weighed down) and flavorful. No matter what I order at Lucy's, I must also have their broccoli. Their Chicken Marsala is to die for, as is their chicken noodle soup. I could go on and on about the yummy foods they serve, but let me address the prices. Yes, they're high. And they went up higher due to to the recent supply chain problems. I'm not a rich person, and would love their prices to be lower, but I put up with it because Lucy's is so exceptional. And unlike others who've posted here, I love their location. There's free and easy parking right in front! Yes, Olives in downtown Princeton is good, but who wants to search and search for a parking spot or pay too much for the parking garage nearby? Not me!
