Simple food with large portions that tastes great.. Price is reasonable as well. I recommend the roast beef with gravy.

Food is excellent and plentiful. The staff is attentive and quick. The only criticism would be the cleanliness of the dining room. This establishment needs a deep clean and remodel to reach the 5 star mark. The tables including the condiments are covered in dust and food debris. It's a shame since the dood is top notch diner comfort food. Come on Orlando the staff can do more than just serve food, they can clean in the down times. I've passed by this cafe every day on my way to work and especially on Sunday mornings they're always busy and I told myself I want to go one day. Finally, on a 1/2 schoool day with some friends who are regulars and my children; I went for lunch, the food was reasonably priced and staff were very friendly. Decor etc could use an update but that's part of its charm, it seemed to be a very 'locals' spot, the ice cream was yummy and I hope to visit during breakfast next time. Formerly the Brass Ring, Orlando's is a good wholesome breakfast and lunch eatery (haven't eaten dinner there yet). Their breakfasts are plentiful and their burgers are excellent. I especially like that it's one of the few "old school" eateries that focuses on good fresh food. Mostly basic American dinner-type food. read more

I only ever have bought their ice cream, so I cannot comment on the food at this time. I like this place, esp. when nice weather to get ice cream with lots of outdoor covered seating. My reason for only a three is compared to last time , last summer, this time, the ice cream cones were very very small portions esp. given one of the two cones purchased , was a soft serve medium, and still pretty tiny. The small hard ice cream was very tiny evenn if a "small". I personally think it depends on who handles making the cones. That person needs better training no to be sooooo stingy. read more

Orlando's Café on Route 31, Hopewell, NJ, is an old roadside attraction, serving mainly local folks from this part of northern Mercer County with three squares a day for many decades under different ownership. This is a beautiful part of New Jersey, and it is a nice drive from anywhere to get there. In warm weather they even have a soft ice cream walk up that I am told on solid authority whips up excellent frozen custard-like tongue pleasers. I took a seat at the counter on the end nearest the dining room. The few guys who were there before me soon finished their breakfasts and departed, leaving me the only one to chat with the servers. They were very nice, and took good care of me with hot coffee and timely delivery of my french toast short stack. The view from my perch showed that everyone was busy on the floor and in the kitchen. The back counter area was a little disheveled, but I was not there as an efficiency expert. I just wanted a good breakfast in a winning place. The house is quite homey as would be expected from a more than fifty year old food joint. Everyone seemed to know everyone else, and it was possible to overhear tales of the local hogs and heroes. All the while, the Bunn coffee machine kept my mug full of their strong Joe. The FT was made of white bread and egg dip. Pros were that the mix completely saturated the slices. The cons were that the bread was so thin that a lot of egg remained on the surface of the bread making it impossible to permit the caramelization of the edges to the crispness I prefer. Too, I may not have tasted a strong enough vanilla/sugar egg mix to foster the chemical reaction with hot steel that I was hoping for. Still, it was acceptable, and I enjoyed the overall experience. I would certainly return to Orlando's, especially in the summer when I could enjoy their soft serve as dessert after a good burger or cheesesteak at lunch or dinner. read more

Bad day at the kitchen? Chicken wings were old tasting and looking, the jerk sauce tried to disguise them as fresh. Chicken sandwich was dry, mayo didn't refresh it. I had breakfast there before, was way better. Stick with breakfast. read more

I don't want to give a mom and pop place a bad review. In fact today went out of my way to go there and patronize the business. The open sign was on. Hours posted said they closed at 5pm. I got there at 2pm. As soon as we walked into the door, a woman jumped from behind the counter and yelled at us that they were closing. She shooed us away with her broom. No exaggeration. There were a hundred different ways she could have told us they were closing early. And we would have accepted that and been fine. This woman instead chose to yell at us and shake her head no. Literally all we did was open door and she jumped at us. There were no words from us. Just amazed she acted like this. I go out of my way for a local business and this was the response. I will never go there again and will share this anecdote with anybody that brings up the name of Orlando's read more

My family has been going to Orlando's (Brass Ring and I think one more name?) since 1990. It's a favorite breakfast place, and even when I'm here for lunch, I eat breakfast. I've done a lot of writing here over the years and no one has ever bothered me for sitting for hours getting refills of coffee/tea. Now that I'm retired, I think I fit in more with some of the regulars than I used to :). read more

Around 4:20 pm today (6-13-16) I stopped by Orlando's Cafe to get something to eat, as I was in the area and saw it had a pretty good Yelp review. But as I was eating my hamburger, I overheard the two waitresses that were there were talking about the mass-shooting that happened in Orlando, FL. And, unfortunately, I heard the one waitress with the blond pony tail and thick red lipstick) say "At least they were all gay." as she was chatting with the other waitress as MSNBC was on the TV talking about the story. After hearing that: I didn't want to give much of a tip, so I ended up just placing three quarters on the small stack of newspapers that were on the counter (which I later realized was also about the terror shooting). I don't care WHAT your orientation is. Just because those people had a different preference than you DOESN'T make their deaths any less of a tragedy. As for the food, since this is a Yelp review: the hamburger and fries were alright, although the bun they used was pretty flat and soggy; and the unsweetened iced tea I had really wasn't that good. The "cafe" is actually a diner for locals and truckers passing by on Route 31 going south. The only extra thing they have, apart from any other diner, is a soft-serve ice cream machine and a small fridge for the hard ice cream. Before hearing that conversation, I would have said that it's alright to go to if you're in the area and want something simple and quick (which is what a diner is for). After hearing that though: I don't want to have any part in supporting that bigotry. Also: there wasn't anything religious in what the waitress said about the shooting. The tone in which she said it was more like "Ughh...THOSE people." I'm a long-time Christian and patriot, and want to say that this review doesn't have anything to do with (my own) bias; but that it's disgusting that some people can be so ignorant in how they perceive others that they would downplay an event like this just because of their own ignorance. read more

Orlandos is my go to place when I want a quick and affordable meal. The staff is always super friendly, the food comes out quickly, it's affordable and it's delicious. Breakfast is my staple. They make an awesome omelet and the whole wheat french toast is a favorite. read more
