Okay, I am pretty loyal when it comes to getting my haircut. Once my hairdresser stopped doing hair I was so worried. I found Chameleon Salon had openings through insta. I found Tay and looked at her portfolio and loved it. I went in and the doors were so weird but the vibes were immaculate. Tay was doing a bang trim when I came in but I was greeted by other stylists and offered beverages while I wanted (only like 10 minutes I waited) everyone was so warm and the place was decorated so beautifully and I felt so comfortable. Sarah was amazing. My daughter messed her hair up pretty bad trying to lift out color. Sarah was awesome before out appointment with text consulting and she was able to get us in quickly. Not only did she make my daughter's hair look amazing, but she also really took a lot of care to try to repair some of the damage that was done with bleaching. Didn't get what I asked for even though I tried correcting and asking multiple times to fix it. Literally spent maybe 10 minutes cutting my hair, clearly was doing the bare minimum and just didn't care. Spent $90 for a haircut that I didn't ask for, didn't want and tried to ask them to fix! I literally had to ask 3 separate times to fix/add more layers and they just refused. Don't come here if you want a stylist that actually cares about their work. I've been going to Sarah for about 4+ years now, and she's been very supportive of every change I've decided to go with (even if it's only something small). I started with long hair as a sort of security blanket, and she's helped me come a long way with expressing myself with my hair style! She's very fun to have conversations with on the weird and goofy topics, but also understands and respects the occasional quiet day! I have never had my long, thick, multiracial curls cut in a more thorough and caring way to both maintain my length and improve the shape. Sarah Hicks did an amazing job. I very rarely leave reviews for services... I am a vote with my dollars kinda gal. But after the AMAZING haircut I got from Sarah at Chameleon Salon, I have to share with you all that you should not sleep on a chance to get an appointment with her. I have had many many disappointing haircuts in my life, I had chalked it up to being a round faced fat woman, with very fine thin hair. I mean, I don't have much hair really to work with, and the hair I do have has two funky cowlicks that make my life miserable. My standard hairstyle for years has been pulled into a ponytail or up in a small claw clip to keep my straggly strands off my neck. I went into Sarah last week with low expectations, hoping for as close to the inspiration pictures as I could get. I was AMAZED at the adorable pixie cut she provided me. She spent time moving my hair around before we washed it so she could assess how my cowlicks laid on my head and then suggested something that none of the other countless stylists I've seen in my life have suggested... to push my hair FORWARDS towards my face. Ya'll... it was life changing. I now have an adorable cut, with hair that is happy to lie where I put it with minimal product and styling (which is my real life normal - so glad she really HEARD me when I said I don't do much to my hair and kinda just want it to do what its supposed to without a lot of time and goop). I cannot wait to make another appointment with her to do some color work. I just had a women's long haircut with Sarah and I am very pleased. This was my first time at this salon. Sarah listened attentively to what I wanted and gave me exactly what I asked for (layers, face framing layers, and the slightest curtain bang). She also tried out products I was interested in on me so that I could get a feel for them. I was a little nervous about the slight curtain bang, but she nailed it- she is very skilled and I feel like it was money well spent. I will likely be back. EDIT: the attempt to shame and humiliate me in their response is disgusting, and says it all. ------- Horrible experience, gave them every chance to resolve... yet here I am. Maybe it's better this way, if I can help one person avoid what I'm going through now. I had been growing my hair for 4-5 years, it was down to my butt. I was waiting for a few more greys to come in, then I had planned to go blonde. There was about 2 inches at the end that had been color treated in the past, the rest was virgin hair. I came across Chameleon Salon as it is close to where I live. I wanted a change, so the name spoke to me- their social media had tons of pics of extreme colored hair, which I took as they must be color experts. In retrospect, I didn't see much blonde, that should have been a red flag maybe. On their website they have a Boho Blonde package as follows: A quick google search of "boho blonde" shows a very clear style, like a messy platinum blonde with darker roots. My ideal color would be golden platinum, and I liked the idea of the slightly grown out look, with shine and dimension. I made the appointment online, assuming (whoops) that in choosing the Boho-Blonde package I would be assigned an appropriate colorist. I was assigned Hannah, who apparently is their curly hair specialist. She pushed Deva curl products so hard I'm wondering if they are an MLM? Either that or she missed her calling as a used car salesman. This should have been another red flag. I was confused as I wasn't there for "curly hair" - my hair does have a natural wave, but especially when long it's straight. I've always been told the individual hairs are thin, but there's lots of them. My natural hair is very healthy and strong. I was getting some tangles at the ends, as I mention I still had about 2 inches from 4-5 years ago that had been color treated. She cut those off immediately, which was fine. She then informed me that people who choose the Boho Blonde package "don't know what they want" and told me she could do a different approach to get me MORE blonde, since my goal was ultimately a golden platinum blonde. I had read that stylist actually find it annoying when you show them pictures, and it seemed like we were on the same page with her understanding that I wanted to go BLONDE blonde. So I didn't show her anything, besides, what I had googled was the boho blonde so there didn't seem to be a point since she was promising to take me a step further. For the sake of brevity - what I ended up with was a 5-6 hour service that was just all over highlights. She kept saying "15 more minutes" and then would disappear for an hour. She started with the lengths, and ended up needing to wash out the product while the roots finished processing. That concerned me a little bit but I wasn't too worried yet. When she showed me how much the ends had lifted, I was horrified. What I saw was clear hair fibers that had been so overprocessed there was no color left. Not only that, there was a ton of my natural dark brown left. Huh?! So after telling me a couple times "15 more minutes" and then disappearing for much longer periods of time, she rinses and tones and let's just skip to the styling. At this point I'm already going into shock, even though I know blonde can look darker when wet. That wasn't the case here. She now decides that actually she should chop off an additional 6 inches of my hair that is now damaged. Ok, whatever, that still leaves me with hair past my shoulders. Now, this isn't even the part that concerns me the most, but she literally put my hair in a ponytail with one hand, and chopped off the length with the other. She then dismissively waves it away and tells me she'll shape it up when dry (she never did). Ok. Remember at these point it's been 5-6 hours, I think we were both exhausted. I'm now going into shock facing the reality of what she did to me, and she proceeds to style it. She tur-- Running out of space to detail my nightmare. read more

They have a really good understanding of bright colors (mine is blue, with some green this time around) and are so accurate with bleaching to get the best results while being careful (I didn't feel a thing!). I was there for over six hours and not once did she rush. She took her time, coloring, styling, and straightening my hair until it was just right. The results are absolutely stunning! I've been wanting to visit Chameleon ever since I moved to the street (I can walk here - big bonus), but wasted time with friends, referrals and Groupons that were all not quite right for me. I'm bummed I fooled around elsewhere for so long, but I am glad I finally came in. Kami is a newer addition to the salon, but I saw that she does fantastic, vivid color on her Instagram so I called to make an appointment. Kami was able to do my hair the same day I called (spontaneous pamper-me day on a weekend) which was awesome. I imagine she will become booked out as she really is a sweetheart and kick-a$$ stylist. I'm usually the girl who prefers to read and listen to music while at the salon, but I found myself blabbing up a storm because she's so easy to talk to. We did a single-process color of violet/burgundy that turned out to be gorgeous. She cut my hair into a fun, cutesy lob, which is exactly what I asked for. I feel refreshed and like me again! Nicole is an amazing hairstylist specializing in blonde hair transformations, and has helped me achieve the platinum, Targaryen locks I've been envisioning for myself for years. I first found her by googling Oregon/Portland hair salons/stylists specializing in blonde and she was one of the top results that continuously popped up with good reviews. I went to get a consultation done in spring of '22 where she assessed my hair at the time (I'm a natural brunette but had gotten 3 full highlights from a different stylist) and was very considerate and thorough when she explained her concerns for me from transitioning from a slower paced, highlights 6 weeks at a time to going full blonde in one go. It took two-three long sessions (have your day clear -anywhere you go- if you plan on going from dark hair to platinum in one-two sessions)with her to get to the full platinum blonde without damaging hair strands that had already been highlighted from my previous stylist. It was well worth the wait since her priority is maintaining hair health and longevity, and she did a fantastic job hand painting what wasn't already highlighted. I get compliments on my hair every time after I get it done, and many people notice that my hair also looks healthy despite the drastic change in color. She also uses high quality products and is very knowledgeable about the brands and why she uses them, and explains the techniques when I asked about them. I have gotten 6/7 sessions done, coming back 10ish weeks for maintenance, the last session included pink pastel highlights which were done very well and still adhere to my work's hair policy (pastel colors that aren't too bright are OK). I love coming back to the salon and Nicole's chair to keep my blonde ambitions bright. She's so fun to talk to and offers great perspectives if I'm feeling down about a situation. She and the rest of the salon is also understanding when I just feel like reading. Snacks and drinks are also available to get through longer appointments. She's the co-owner with her best friend and they've built a high quality, welcoming, inclusive salon where the chairs are spacious and comfortable enough for people of all sizes. The strong mentorship for younger employees is evident since many of the other employees have assisted with my sessions. Cecil even did the color theory and mixing for the pink to go in my hair and it turned out amazing. Highly recommend for blonde transformations and the salon also specializes in amazing rainbow/unicorn colors. Basically any color combo you want for your noggin they can make a reality. Services do cost a pretty penny but you get what you pay for which is an amazing job well done on your hair and an overall wonderful experience at the salon. I live far away and drove 1.5 hrs (now currently 1ish hr) to get my hair and would happily continue going even if I lived farther away. read more
