Wow! Best haircut experience ever. I had been obsessing over Nikkis instagram (@hairbynikkifitz) for months, and I was waiting for the right time to get a balayage from her! I was trying to book around mid December so it was hard to get an appointment, but she said she'd call me if there was a cancellation, and sure enough, there was, and she did! I walked in and was greeted by the beautiful Kristina, then swept away to my chair by Nikki who immediately offered my tea coffee water or wine, after I got my tea we discussed the state of my hair and the pictures I sent to get it where I wanted. She then proceeded to spend four laborious hours carefully dying each strand of my hair with a few different colors, all the while entertaining me with great chat. I even asked for a last minute cut to go along with my new color, and she obliged. The end result exceeded my expectations beyond measure! There is no doubt that Nikki is an master at her craft! Kristina is hands down the best hair stylist I have ever been to. I have been going to her for 4 years now every 3 months for extensions and highlights and each time I leave feeling incredible! KOA is seriously THE BEST salon. I personally see Nikki, but know the other ladies are great as well. I had been looking for the perfect sylist for literally years. Nikki will consult until she is sure we are 100% on the same page, then executes perfectly. My first time in, I was a little nervous (as most people are the first time with a stylist), but Nikki talked through my wishes so thouroghly that the nerves very quickly subsided...even before she started the service! I came in and saw Whitney for a hair trim. She asked me what my hair goals are and I told her I wanted to have a long bob, but not for a long time as my hair is growing out and I want it to be less damaged. So I told her I only wanted a trim to reflect the hair length I currently had. She trimmed my hair and I didn't notice until I got home and showered but she cut my hair in a bob style, even though I told I didn't want it like that right now and one side of my hair was shorter than the other so she didn't cut it very well. I was a regular of Aidan's at his old spot and I'll keep getting my haircut with him at Koa. I used to never do anything adventurous with my hair when I was younger and just the thought of figuring out how to style it gave me massive anxiety. Aidan's been great at walking me through different things that would work for me and what to expect as I work my hair towards a certain style. His recommendations for both how to style my hair and what to use with it have always been spot on. I used to loathe getting my haircut but it's always been fun and enjoyable with Aidan. It has always been so hard for me to find someone that can get the color that I want properly executed but Kristina has been able to fulfill every color request- I wanted red and I got super vibrant red! Kristina is a miracle worker! I went in for my first ever set of extensions and I can not believe how amazing my hair looks. She was super sweet, personable, and most of all, patient with all my questions during the consultation and the actual appointment; explained everything in detail and seemed genuinely excited with me at the end of the appointment. On a personal, serious note, I was dealing with some self esteem issues that came with weight gain and hair loss from a medication I was prescribed a year ago (currently on different meds) so I had been feeling a little down about myself for awhile, but I feel so pretty now. I know that may sound like a really bad infomercial but like I said before, miracle worker. The color and cut is blended so perfectly with the beaded row extensions. Yes, they are a little costly, but you get what you pay for. I would rather pay a little more and know I am in good, experienced hands. For my first time ever going into a salon to get my hair done I was not so happy. I loved how my hair turned out but it was not the color that I had talked to cristina about during consultation. I wanted a warm light blonde but I got a super ashy toned dirty blonde. Now, I still liked it but after 2 days, haven't washed the hair yet, checking my hair and I notice that the middle section and lower was NOT the same color as the rest. It was not evenly colored at all. If I wanted it patchy I would've done it myself or had a friend do it. Honestly had no idea what she was even charging me for since on the website it says 80-100$ but ended up paying 240$. Kinda ridiculous since my hair was kind of thin and only shoulder length. Beautiful salon in a really nice area. I still enjoyed parts of the salon experience but for the price and the results, not so happy. read more
