Highly recommend the jalapeño and queso, but the squash/queso or the herb and queso are also fantastic. Staff was very friendly and the food is very fresh. Don't be put off by the location being in the mall, it's easy to find parking and the food feels very authentic. Parking near the mall entrance by Ross leads you right into the food court.

It is a substantial meal consisting of perfectly grilled steak, vegetables, rice, savory sauce and a fried egg. The steak was amazing, very flavorful, tender, high quality meat. The vegetables - tomatoes, peppers, onions and (perhaps an abundance of) French fries were cooked just right. The sauce was very flavorful. The rice was a good foil to that. The egg probably makes it authentic but was not the stand out. I would order this again in a second. I took half of it home. My wife had the pork belly appetizer and plantain side. She raved about it, especially the plantains. The sauce with the plantains was perfect. The sauce with the pork belly was quite spicy and she replaced it with another sauce that they had. She again would re-order this. Service was great - educational and polite. It was efficient, though the restaurant was a lull period so can't comment on busy times. The space was inviting. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They have a wine and beer bar, but not a full liquor license. We found this a delight and it will be one of our go to restaurants in mid town Sacramento.

One surprise was finding out this location doesn't have beer on draft. Apparently, the Midtown location does, so we may have to check that one out next time. Overall, a solid Peruvian spot and definitely somewhere I'd come back to try more dishes.

The birria was so damn good. Carnitas was really good too, the meat was a bit hard at times. I came with a friend and after we ordered there was an almost 30 minute wait. I was getting a bit restless but the place was busy and the food is made fresh. We were also served tortilla chips with frijoles as a sort of appetizer while we waited. They serve beer here as well. Not the biggest restaurant but the server was nice and friendly. Restaurant clean as well. Would definitely be worth visiting again.

It feels like the kind of food you'd get at a friend's house, not just something made to look the part. The staff was friendly and personable, which made the experience even better. Now, let me set expectations--this isn't the kind of place where your water glass is getting refilled every five minutes. But you can grab a soda or a horchata and you're good to go. The open kitchen is a big part of the experience. You can see everything being made, and more importantly, you can smell it. You start eating with your nose before the food even hits the table. You take it in with your eyes, and then your taste buds finish the job. I've recommended this place to a few people, and they've gone back again and again. That says a lot. The last time I visited, I remember the locals there talking with the owners. Several saying that they are regular customers and how happy they were with the food. It's a fairly small restaurant at a strip mall off of Watt Ave. A cozy little place and the owners ( who speak Spanish ) are happy to serve you. You won't be disappointed with the food. I then asked if they can just take it off the bill because I couldn't eat it. He said no to that too. My husband doesn't eat meat and my son is lactose intolerant so it was going to be food wasted and money down the drain. I was pretty shocked because I've never been to a restaurant where they can't reasonable accommodate the guest. I then ordered my entree and the chicken was very dry and overcooked. I was not satisfied but I knew they wouldn't let me swap it for something else. Unfortunately I'm not going to rush to come back. The waiter was friendly enough but not accommodating. I get nervous when it comes to food allergies because now I know that some restaurants aren't disclosing food allergens which is actually not allowed. There are folks out here with life threatening allergies, so these places need to be careful. I'm glad I'm not one of those people but it's still disappointing.

My only Issue was the mayo based dip. It threw me off and couldn't eat them. Saved for the next day to enjoy them. My Peruvian go to is always the Lomo Saltado. And being that my first taste of it was in Portland, Oregon, it set the standard for me. This one was in a whole lot of gravy, which I'm not used to at all. It was good, but felt and tasted like a stew. The picture is me pulling up the meat, onions and tomatoes to the surface. So there was even more liquid than it appears. We also had the Aji de Gallina, which was chicken with rice and there flavorful sauce. It was delicious.
