I love a good burger and this one didn't disappoint at all

The burger was juicy cheesy and fresh. Placed an order at the window service was pretty quick. Ambience was like your typical burger shack! Fries were fresh but not my cut of fry, I prefer seasoned battered fries. But over a good choice.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while based on reviews, finally made it out today. Ordered the Lunch special- Champ burger, fries, and a medium drink, it did not disappoint! The burgers are pretty big, juicy, and very tasty . The fries were hot, fresh, and the perfect size, not too thin or too thick. The lady that took our order was very sweet and gracious, we enjoyed talking to her while we looked at the menu. The outdoor seating was clean and well shaded. Only negative is they only gave us one napkin in each bag, still can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu.

I had heard about this place in an article so I decided to try it on my way Northwest from the League City area. First of all, the trains in that area of town blow. There were a ton of stops everywhere. Good news about Eado is that you can work around it if you're quick enough and don't get trapped. An entire train was completely stopped and I was not for that. Parking was easy and you can pull up right in front. Loved the couple who took our order then gave it to us. Ate the fries on my way home and they were hot, crispy, potato-ey and appropriately salted. The burger reminded me of a Whataburger BUT the meat was thicker, tastier, and overall more delicious. Proud to support a local business and we will be back. They have benches outside you can eat at the order came out fast, but also fresh.

I've had this on my "try" list for some years -I always find myself just outside of business hours whenever I'm in the neighborhood. I lucked out last week and made it over just around 10:30. I learned that they served breakfast but I was in the mood for a burger. Here's what you need to know- they take orders in advance. I mention that because there was a steady stream of customers that had already placed orders or were there in person before I arrived that morning. This place is popular. To do it right, I should have ordered a milkshake to go along with the lunch special of a burger and fries, but I wanted to keep it simple because it was so early and I don't usually start my morning off with heavy food. I ordered a burger "all the way" (mustard + mayo, onions) and then added cheese and jalapeños. From my first bite I felt like this is what local Whataburger would taste like. By that I mean, the crispness of the lettuce and onions accompanying you in every bite was incredible. The condiments were not too heavy -because I like mayo, I probably would have asked for a little extra. The burger itself wasn't heavily seasoned which I was okay with but it did have a few pieces of gristle which gave me a panic attack almost every time I bit into one because of my dental work. One of the things I smelled immediately upon getting my classic white paper bag was the scent of the fries. I could feel the warmth through the bag and couldn't wait to get to them. I wish they'd lived up tot my expectations. I felt like they could have used more seasoning and some didn't feel fully cooked to the perfect softness that can be achieved. But I had enough nibbles to be satisfied. If I were to go back I'd prioritize the child cheese fries and a milkshake. Chances are high I will go back. Staff was really nice and they work quickly given all the orders coming in.

What can I say? I love this place called in an order on Thursday for my niece and I ! I had the chili cheese dog. She had the hamburger w cheese and fries and a Dr Pepper. Oh so delicious.!

This place is an EaDo gem and I appreciate the random person that put me on. The lunch spot for champions. The special is more than enough and the fries are a top tier and can't wait to try the onion rings next time. The burger is great and they make small accommodations but no subs. The staff is definitely the family and are so sweet and the service is swift and you can tell they know they have a good thing and no changes need to be made. I love the benches near the window and the back patio is nice with the fans and garden seating. Alrhough the parking is street there is no shortage and the wait feels none existent .

Hear me out! This burger spot is top tier. There needs to be 10 stars available to rate this place because they delivered a quality burger and it was stacked! As an LA native home of the best burger joints on the west coast. Argue with your mama not me! Champ Burger takes the lead of the closest thing to home. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and loaded. I got the champ burger with cheese, bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, tomatoes and lettuce. No need for a double patty, this is not your in n out size burger the one patty will do just fine. I thought my cousin was exaggerating after the first bite until I tried mine and she wasn't. It was the real deal! All I'm going to say is if you are in second ward stop by and give champ burger a try. Not only is their food good but the prices are great, give good portions and the staff are nice. This is a burger stand vibe so whether you want to eat in the outdoor seating area or take your meal home the Champ Burger team got you! See for yourself and support this business!

Ordered the double bacon cheeseburger, chicken fried steak sandwich, onion rings, chili cheese fries. The burger and sandwich were huge. The chicken fried steak sandwich was mine, it just tasted like a regular burger. Was hoping for gravy with the chicken fried steak but that's not how it's served. Taste wise it was ok. Bf had the double bacon cheeseburger and he loved it. Onion rings were nice and crisp. Chili cheese fries were the best with ooey gooey cheese melted on top. Overall it was an ok experience. If you get here early in the day (before noon) the line isn't too bad, otherwise expect a long line.

Don't let any of those negative reviews keep you from trying this place. You don't stay in business this long with bad food. I had the double champ cheeseburger with jalapeños and fries. Service was great and food came out quickly. Bring an appetite if you get the double.

Was recommended to try this place for a while now and I finally went out of my way to try it out and it was delicious! I got a champ burger with bacon and cheese and it was delicious! You get a great value for what you purchase and the bacon was nice and thick not like the fast food restaurants where its paper thin, I enjoyed it slog along with the side order of fries, it's affordable and I am now a lifelong patron read more

I love champ Burger. I have tried almost every breakfast sandwich and hamburger and breakfast tacos that this place has to offer, and have not been disappointed once They have two homemade salsas that are delicious with a good kick and also offer other commercial hot sauces. Service is friendly and prompt. Prices are fair. I work down the street from here, so I eat here at least 4 days out of the work week. I recommend this place hands down. Better than any burger joint around. read more

First outing to the "Champ Burger" and it is not a place you would just be driving by (at least in my life) and stop by- so we ventured to this local about 1130 and there was no huge line and server was friendly and fast- we grabbed an shaded spot in the outdoor seating (that is the only seating) and dove right in. I had the Champ cheeseburger and fries- toasted bun, big hot burger, fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles and with the right amount of mustard and mayo (I asked for light on both) so it was an awesome just burger (like many have stated not gourmet not outstanding slap your mama- just a good burger) fries were good as well so decent place for a quick, relatively inexpensive bite to eat. (Street parking and if it rains you want to be under the covered seating...just sayin!) read more

As the name suggests, this place is a CHAMP! Their burgers are grilled on the spot and are oh so delicious. I got the double meat with cheese and fried onion rings, and that was literally one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life!! The onion rings were fried to perfection, and each bite into the burger kept me wanting to take the next bite ASAP! It was very meaty, and made for an awesome lunch meal. Been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. This place has been a fixture in the east end for many years and continues to thrive. I remember my pops bringing me here as a kid and I must say that their burgers are still some of the best htown has to offer. I must warn you though, it gets pretty packed during lunch so your best bet is to call in your order in advance. Definitely one of the east ends hidden gems. read more

Just went to Champ Burger today and am extremely happy with that delicious bacon cheese burger. The patty was meaty and juicy, the cheese was gooey, the bacon was crispy (but not overly crispy and dry), and the buns were fresh. My buddy called me up to go check it out and I haven't been there in about 3 or 4 years but still remembered that I loved it. Great choice by him. I'm happily full right now. read more

I personally didn't go here, but my coworker brought me a breakfast sandwich. She claimed it was going to be the best breakfast sandwich ever! She wasn't wrong! The Texas toast was great, the cheese was melted, the bacon could be crisper (but that's a personal preference). The potion was HUGE! omfg, I'm still not over it. read more

Will not be disappointed me and the misses came and got the Champ with cheese and another with bacon and both of us were highly satisfied. Outside seating is something but plenty of covering, it's really more of a spot but a great spot nonetheless. Fries were golden crisp and not hard just right. Burgers are great portions and made just the right juices. Highly recommended. read more

This is one of the best burgers in Houston that I have had. And exactly my favorite kind of place - call it low overhead. Order at the window and sit outside. Bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos. Soft bun. Fresh, crunchy lettuce/pickles/onions. High quality bacon. Plenty big and not too thick. Perfect. Credit cards are ok now. read more

How are the ratings this high for this place? 4.5 stars? Give me a break. The burgers are pretty good but not 4.5 star good. They are comparable to Fudruckers of something. I came here because of the high Yelp reviews and left thinking that it was overrated. I will say that there's nothing else that's good in the area. Would like to have given this place better rating, but unfortunately every other bite of my double burger had tendons that were ground with the beef. Meat supplier needs better quality control. Service was fast and courteous, but having to pull stuff out of your mouth every other bite, ridiculous. read more

I've been going here for years but have neglected to review. The place is a favorite of your working downtown - quick to get to and fast service. Their burger are big and tasty. They often have combos specials. Make sure to try their apple pie - fresher version of the McDonald one. read more

Texas Size Steak Sandwich As a native Houstonian & Texan, I would say with confidence that I know my chicken friend steak. Well, this takes the CAKE!! First & foremost it is HUGE- you will be surprised how much your dollar buys at this charming retro burger stand. Breading to meat ratio-unbelievable-there's not one breading only bite in this baby. I told her we want our money back and she said, "well I'm not going to refund for the drinks you had". Ma'am, that's not how you run a business. Just admit you messed up and take ownership of your mistakes to help a customer out. - Fourth she mentioned that other tickets have been lost today and other foods have been stolen before. This just shows how disorganized this placed is. We were able to ask for our money back but it was a battle about it. I was disappointed because we wanted to support your business but at this service? Heck no! Do not come here. And from reading other reviews now we did not miss on the food.

Thankfully there wasn't a line at 11:20a and only waited a few minutes until food was ready. The bread has a slightly sweet taste and served slightly toasted which is nice. Glad I stopped by after being released from Jury Duty; only a 4 min drive from the Lubbock Courthouse.

One of the good things about brewery hopping around town is that you get to visit neighborhoods you wouldn't otherwise. Before beer time at Sigma around the block, I got a late lunch here. Just a great old school and casual counter burger joint. One that has been around since the 60's and has changed very little. Everyone working here is great, and takes care of the still buzzing crowd at about 3:00 pm quickly. That typical old school burger joint menu, and the bacon cheese burger is legit. Big, juicy, beefy and flavorful as all get out, plus the thick bacon of coarse. There is a small outdoor patio you can sit at, and is pretty comfortable even during a summer afternoon. Still really well priced as well. I'll have to get the steak burger next time. Instantly one of my favorite burgers in Houston and while much more of a traditional no nonsense burger, up there with Stanton's as far as I'm concerned. read more

We are regulars here as we live in the neighborhood. The burgers are the best I have had anywhere! Try the Alpine or the California with your favorite toppings. Fries are fresh, hot and crispy too. Try your fried dipped with an assortment of mayos (chipotle or wasabi are great). There are chicken, turkey and veggie options as well. Now they offer homemade ice cream as well. The burgers are SO big we sometime go for the kiddie burger. If you are feeling peckish the salads are surprisingly fresh and tasty for a burger place.Staff are friendly and know our names -given we are here every week this is not a surprise. As others have said you do have to wait as the burgers are big, fresh and grilled before your eyes. There is sometimes a wait especially in the winter when the patio is closed. The only down side is I am not a beer/cider drinker and the wine selection is, well, sad. read more

I visited this place after a meeting in the area; however, I used to work in the area and frequented this place more often. Champ Burger gives you, hands down, a great home style burger. I recommend the lunch special, burger, fries, and a drink for $6.99 plus some change. Also, get the tea if you want free refills. I can say that they have consistently provided great burgers along with excellent customer service. This place is busy during lunch so go early. Enjoy! read more

This spot has some of the best burgers in town. They're always tasty, made fresh right when you order. The veggies are super crisp, and the meat's seasoned just right. We got two bacon cheeseburgers, two fries, a soft drink, and a small vanilla shake for about $35. Honestly, we could've shared one order of fries. They will grill you a burger as early as 7:00 AM. It's been at the same corner spot for over 50 years. It is iconic spot on east downtown. If I need to pick up breakfast tacos for my customers I will just call ahead. Chris will have it ready for me in short amount of time. I just wish Chapms would open on weekends. The place do shut down at 4:30 P.M. everyday. read more

This was our first time at this great little restaurant. I catch up with a friend and we were delighted with our choice. We tried a variety of appetizers and enjoyed every one of them.
