We sat upstairs on the covered patio area and had a very nice gentlemen check in with us regularly and when we were done offered to bring us to go boxes and bags. Burger Bodega is definitely a spot you go to more for the vibe than the food. The branding and aesthetics are what I think made this spot go viral; the inside is vintage inspired with bold, vibrant colors, cool interior decor, and even merch that makes it feel like a full-on photo op destination. The upstairs seating area was actually a nice hangout spot too, breezy with fans and a relaxed energy. The staff were also very attentive and quick to clear plates/check in. That said, the food didn't really live up to the hype for me. I tried the double smash burger and the chopped cheese sandwich. As someone who really loves smash burgers, I was surprised by how bland the double smash burger was. The fries were easily the best part of the meal for me. Crispy, not greasy, and battered style fries. I wouldn't get them "animal style" again though; the creamy sauce felt like overkill. The chopped cheese also wasn't my favorite... it was pretty soggy and felt like there wasn't enough filling to balance the bread. I've been wanting to try their smash burgers for a while now since I had a friend who used to work at their pop ups before they had their brick and mortar on Washington. I still see all the long lines even late at night a couple years later. I had the single smash burger with fries. I liked the potato bun which is soft and adds some sweetness. Growing up, we used to buy potato bread and made sandwiches with it. It's nostalgic. The bodega sauce also reminds me of the fry sauce we made with ketchup and mayo. I regret not getting the double or triple patties cause the meat was smashed really thin and is smaller compared to other smash burger joints. It made it hard to really taste the actual burger meat and tasted more of bread and sauce. The fries were ok. I think it's thinly batter-coated to maintain crispiness which I'm not a fan of. I've seen other places do the same. I wish it had seasoning or something. I've tried the chopped cheese when they did the collab with The Kolache Shoppe and thought it had good flavor. I had a great time visiting this spot. The vibes inside are of a New York City Metro rail system. It starts with even the gift cards. They are selling at the register being an MTA pass. Very unique idea as you walk through the space the ambience resembles in New York Metro station and has flares of Houston with NASA signs and serial boxes with their marketing on it really unique. I ordered a double smash burger over lettuce as well as a single smash regular style. I also ordered a side of fries as well as cheese sauce, and their Harlem aïoli sauce. The smashed patty is laced crispy, but has meat under which pairs for a good combo and their grilled onions and sauce combo make for a great bite. The fries are very crispy, and the Harlem aïoli has ginger, garlic, and some sort of tang which makes for a nice dipping sauce for either the fries or the burger. The cheese sauce is the only recommendation I would give. It was too milky and didn't have enough of a cheese taste that would be my one recommendation. After flopping horrendously at Momentum Indoor Climbing, I decided to treat myself to some Burger Bodega with my friend, and I'm pleased to say it did NOT disappoint. Parking is tight, but it's definitely possible to find a spot, and there was limited seating available as well; the ambiance of the place definitely makes up for it, though! Burger Bodega's interior has a cool, vintage, and retro vibe, which I found myself constantly admiring. The workers were also extremely friendly, and one of them consistently checked on us throughout our meal. :) I ordered their classic Smash Burger with spicy mayo and a single patty instead of a double because I also wanted to try their Screwed Fries (spoiler alert: they're amazing). Overall, my meal was satisfying, without leaving me feeling bloated or having to burp. The crispy texture of the beef patty was incredible, and I also thought that their pickle was unique, unlike the pickles I find at other burger joints. As for the Screwed Fries, I was worried the onions would overpower the taste, but I did not find that to be the case at all; the fries were crispy and lightly salted as well. Given its portion size, it's a side that can definitely be shared with a group. Evidently the food is amazing because the line to get in for order/pick up was wrapped around the building (P.S. it's probably best to order ahead for pick up if wanting your food to go). I opted to dine in to get the full experience so I didnt mind the wait. By the time I got in inside I could see that it was limited space and seating (downstairs) however I was able to snag a seat, and the time it took to order and get my food was relatively fast. I was made aware that there was an upstairs patio with plenty more seating, but this was after the fact. My Burger and fries was everything I needed and wanted it to be! The burger was hot, juicy, cheesy, and seasoned to perfection! The potato bun it was on was soft and delicious! And that Bodega sauce?!? Indeed! The fries were hot, golden and had the perfect crisp...all of it fantastic and well worth the money spent! I washed it down with a Mexican Coke which hit the spot! A server came and checked in me which I thought was pretty nice considering how packed amd busy it was inside. Parking for me was easy, I was able to find a spot right away. Very Instagrammy and I think that was the point of their interior decor. Located on Washington Ave, the menu is fairly simple and is reminiscent of a fast food burger truck menu. There's smashburgers, fries, and shakes and that's it, which is nice when the menu is compact. We ordered the chopped fries ($8.95) and the double smashburger ($9.95), total with tax and tip came out to above $30. The service is good for what it is; you order up front and grab your food when it's complete and then put away the trays (think Torchy's). The fries are good fast food fries which are crisp and the toppings are rich with the cheese and aioli topping. The smash burger though was a bit average for me; the smashed beef patties had a crispy texture but were very thin and that lacked a bite and beef flavor. The bread was pre-made Martin's potato rolls out of their packaging. There was also a mayonnaise based sauce and some diced onions. It's fine but for $9.95, I felt you can get much better flavor and value from an actual gourmet burger from a variety of spots inside the loop. Overall, it seems like a decent late night burger spot in this immediate area but if I had an In n out next door, the choice would be easy to pick between. My friend and I met up here early on a weekday evening and were helped and served quickly, but it quickly got busy throughout the night. Menu is simple. I've heard this place compared to Trill Burgers a few times and the burgers are definitely similar, but I much prefer the quality and flavors here. Wish I could have tried a milkshake, but it was too cold the night I went- but they do sell Pudgy's Fine Cookies here so I took one home to go! Staff was extremely friendly and their menu is small - very quick service getting out what few items they make WELL. I kinda like the model! Flavor wise, everything works so well. The bodega sauce is great and I like getting the Harlem Aioli on the side to which they describe as a garlic aioli sauce. We were able to try the Vietnamese Coffee Milkshake and that was also super good. The coffee flavor is strong and overall works great in a shake format. Service was good as the line moves pretty fast, food came out in a timely manner, and the staff are constantly checking to see if you are doing good, or cleaning tables for more people to sit at.
