A Must-Visit Gem! Champa never disappoints! Every time I visit, I'm reminded why it's one of my favorite spots. Their sushi is consistently fresh, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavor -- definitely some of the best I've had anywhere. The General Tso's Chicken? Absolutely to die for. Perfectly crispy, just the right amount of heat, and that sauce... addictive. It hits all the right notes of sweet, spicy, and savory. I also ordered the spicy kani salad, and like always, it was excellent. Creamy, flavorful, and with just the right kick -- it's become a staple for me every time I go. Between the incredible food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the reliable service, Champa has easily earned its spot at the top of my list. Highly recommend!

    Sloppy basil roll fell apart.

The crab rangoons didn't have enough crab to flavor the dish. On many levels, the fresh basil rolls were truly awful: only a piece of shrimp. Look at the veggies, they weren't even julienned. The wraps were so loose that when I picked them up, they fell apart. The peanut sauce had no flavor. The place looked neat and clean. Service was okay. Won't be going back.

Excellent Por-Pea-Sod, shrimp rice wrap, fresh..for lunch I had the three roll special Shrimp avocado roll, spicy tuna roll and spicy crab roll. Indifferent as the filling was all ground like a mush (see pics). But the flavor was amazing. I just prefer slices of tuna and shrimp. Green tea was great. Overall 3.5 stars on the sushi, next time I'll try a meal, saw many savory choices.

After having heard about Champa from several friends, I finally made it there for dinner when my good friend came to visit Hendersonville. The high recommendations I received were not warranted in my experience. This was my first time ever dining at Champa. I ordered the Pad Kra Pao beef entree at "spicy level #3." The dish I received was completely wrong. What I received was not spicy at all (like spicy level 0). The sauce was a bit sweet, but lacked any hints of jalapeño or basil. When I mentioned the lack of any "heat," the server brought me a ramekin with siracha paste in it. Some of this paste can be seen added to my plate. The food on my plate was edible, but definitely didn't match the correct flavor profile for the dish. Additionally, the vegetables were chopped wrong. Most of the onion was thinly sliced like shredded lettuce and the bell peppers were inconsistent. Additionally, it was served on top of chopped iceberg lettuce that looked like bagged salad. You would think the restaurant could cook rice correctly. Nope. The rice was a bit cold when served and very hard. I mean the cooked rice was not tender. It was not crunchy inside (not cooked). It was cooked, just not soft or fluffy as rice should be. It may as well have been a Mahatma or Riviana US domestic product from Ingles. My friend ordered the combination fried rice with shrimp. I tried some. It was just ok, better than a US Foods bagged product, but mediocre at best for an Asian restaurant. The restaurant was comfortable, though a bit loud. I tipped my server with the bill because she was nice. But I was not impressed at all by the food because it was incorrectly prepared and failed to live up to acceptable dining standards. Seriously? An Asian food restaurant serving cold steamed rice? I couldn't eat the rice and left half of my entree uneaten during what was supposed to be our nice dinner in town.

Really disappointing experience at Champa. Everything here was below average from start to finish, save our server who was so completely overbooked she didn't have any time to do her job (not her fault). We came in the other night with a party of 5, and the restaurant in general looks nice. It's not dirty and the decor is pretty, but the seats we sat in were busted and uncomfortable. The host seemed to be taking every single table that came in the door. We made a reservation over the phone earlier in the day and showed up and the reservation was lost. It looks like the host did her whole job on pen and paper, but seemed to be completely untrained. We offered to wait a bit longer and she insisted they could seat us as a walk in. At the same time we came in, a man asked for a walk in party of 14 people. I was pretty surprised because for a party that large it's rude to do that last minute. Rather than turn him down, the host assured him they could also be seated immediately. Due to the volume at that point, I probably should've just left - I read they have poor service in other reviews, but was shocked at just how bad it was. The host seated us and we didn't see our server for at least 20 minutes and water took a full 30 mins to come out. There were really young children working and our server seemed to be the only adult. Our food order didn't get taken until a full hour into us sitting there, and our food took another hour to even come out. ALSO - tell me why the party of 14 was halfway through dinner before we even got our order taken??? Half of their party wasn't even present when we came in and they were sat at least 20 mins later. We spent SO MUCH time waiting for them to get it together we probably should've just got up and left. I felt so bad for our poor server - she was clearly the superstar of the restaurant, but because their staff is all high school age or under, they all sat at the front behind the counter in a group rather than help her. I watched her sit and process receipts most of the night while also juggling the majority of the serving for the ENTIRE restaurant alone. The host should not have sat that many people, but the restaurant should also look at employing actual servers, not kids. By the time the food came the pad see ew was drenched in sesame oil and the two people in our party who ordered it found it inedible. The fried rice was good, the duck entree was cold and very bad. We ordered a sashimi platter and the fish was fresh and worth the $25 we paid for. Overall, the sashimi and fresh sushi looked to be pretty good, but the variety of hot entrees were not. This is an Asian fusion restaurant, so they blend Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and perhaps more cuisines. I found only the Japanese entrees were really worth anything, and overall an entire restaurant cannot rest on the back of the 1 good staff member they had working that night. There were so many problems with the night we would probably never consider coming back and would not recommend eating here.

The food was absolutely amazing. I had the spicy lobster roll, Philly roll and the beef pho. All of it was delicious, however, they only have one sushi chef working the sushi bar. Aside from the the service was great. The waitress kept an eye on us the entire time. Cute little place right in downtown. Will be back for sure.

This place was a fusion of Asian foods so I'm usually a bit reluctant to order anything too crazy so we stuck with what we knew. Spring rolls were fresh and tasty. Haven't had it with bell peppers before but it was good with the sauces. Green curry had good flavor but a touch loose for how I usually like it. Ginger salad came really overdressed so we didn't eat too much of that but we really liked the cucumbers. Whatever that sauce it was tossed in was very pleasant. We also enjoyed the stir fried eggplant dish with shrimp. It had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. Lastly I ordered the pad see ew, noodles cooked really well and all the textures were there. I could taste the char from the wok but it did lack that "sweet soy" flavor I'm looking for in this dish. I would say overall we enjoyed most of the dishes and some just needed a bit more flavor but it was still a good experience.

Lettuce leaf appetizers were served with one shrimp and four peanuts each. Looked like one of those DIWHY projects you see on Pinterest. Crispy shrimp was more on the greasy side but edible. The bathroom wall in the handicapped stall has a thick layer of dust on it which was kind of "ew". It used to be much cleaner and well kept. I'm not sure if volume has exceeded capacity or what has happened. I would recommend reducing the menu items to focus on quality and ingredients that can be used in multiple dishes. I would also make better use of the bar area and put seating around there. I would love to see this place pop again. The wrapper was very tender and the shrimp filling was delicious. It tasted very authentic to me. I also loved the Sautéed String Bean as it had the right amount of garlicky sauce. The Lo Mein was made with thinner than usual noodles but still tasted good. I think the Chow Fun tasted a bit off. It kind of tasted a bit sweet and like drunken noodles at some points as opposed to the traditional smoky flavor that the dish has. The rice noodles that were used were also thin as opposed to the usual wider noodles. As for the Spicy Chicken, it tasted solid. I liked the slight crisp before biting into each piece and it was not really spicy. I definitely tasted the cumin (I am not a super big fan of), which is a popular flavor found in Szechuan cuisine. Overall, I think this is a nice spot for some Chinese food, especially being near the mountains which is more isolated. I would probably rate it a 3.75/5 stars if I could. I wish chicken feet were part of their dim sum menu (it is pretty small and there are no rolling carts in case anyone is wondering). I do think some flavors of the food I tasted seem to cater a bit more to the Western taste palate (my parents agree as well), but I enjoyed my time here.
