They were the first ones to pick up the phone and were so kind and gave me advice on how to fix the bike without charge or saying I needed to buy any upgrades. hello to anyone who reads this.stay away from this bike shop.these stonies that work there are sad.looking for a hard-to-find tire tube.called their sister stores in the area, no luck than i called this store that was more than an hour drive.they swore they had my tube, many in inventory.when at the store they handed me the wrong size,than they handed me another diff.but wrong tube..then one of these lug nuts told me he could squeese a larger tube into my tire and rim.do not trust this shop.no value in talking to liers read more

Excellent service from Don. I came over because one of the local stores that does mostly repair told me I should check it out. I think they have a great selection the best I've seen in the area. Also, the prices are reasonable. I will be back! As a note, he also wants to see my bike back in 90 days to just reset the cables after stretching, etc. again just excellent service and a really nice guys in there. read more

I was not greeted by any of the three employees when I arrived, one was on his cellphone, the guy behind the counter was scheduling a doctors appointment and the third guy was just staring at me as I walked in with my bike, obviously needing service. I needed to have my chain swapped out as it had been sitting for a while and accumulated rust. I asked for this and immediately the tech was trying to upsell me on replacing my rear cassette as well...When I told him no, it looks fine to me with just some rust from the chain sitting on the intact cassette his response was, "I wouldn't say it looks fine". OK Bro, I get it, it's not perfect but guess what, I ride this all the time and know it does not need replacing. Thanks for the 10 speed chain on my 11 speed cassette which you didn't bother to mention or expect me to notice I guess. I won't be back. read more

be careful & clear if you drop your bike off to get work done on it. i needed my rear tires replaced. they told me how much it cost and I dropped my bike off. when I picked it up they replaced the inner-tube, which I did not ask for or need, and a couple other things and said I owed them $30 extra for it. I feel like that's shady to do without asking the customer if they even want the extra work done. Then when I told him I don't think that's fair he said "whatever, uoire taking too long so we just won't charge you for the extra work". I paid the amount for the original agreement and he walked me out with my bike with frustration. Id never make anyone feel the way they made me feel - if I owned a business. I recently took down my bike that was hanging from hooks in my garage for some twenty odd years. Cardiologist informed me to walk 30 minutes a day uninterrupted at a brisk pace. I elected to try bike riding instead. Tires were dry rotted but I managed to get two laps around the neighborhood before the rear tire started to come apart. After looking at several Yelp reviews I chose Champion Schwinn Cycling. Hector greeted me, briefly looked over the bike and informed me what it take at the minimum to bring the bike back into service. I signed the repair ticket with no restriction to cost. The turnaround wound be 4-5 days. A few hours later I was called by Chris who went over what he had done to the bike, the cost (very reasonable) and that it would be ready for pick up that evening. I picked up the bike the following day. This time I was greeted by the owner who offered me shifting guidelines and tire pressure requirements. The bike runs great especially with new tires. I highly recommend Champion Schwinn Cycling. read more

Our two new bicycles needed gear/brake adjustments urgently. My sun and I planned to bicycle that week-end before he went back to college. Owner Don was very helpful, Kirk did an excellent job and both bikes were ready early Saturday morning, two days ahead of time. I can't emphasize how professional and friendly Rob and the entire team was! It was my birthday and I was really eager to get a bike put together. They immediately made time for me and helped unload and load it in my car. They can be a bit pricey but depending on which bike mechanic you get, they can be extremely helpful (although sometimes I've had some not-so-friendly types). The thing that I really like about this bike shop, though, is the sense of community. They are constantly hosting and promoting different events. One of my favorites is the Ladies Nights. The only one I have been to was the bicycle maintenance workshop, which was absolutely free. It was extremely informative. They set up different stations and we were taught (hand on) how to clean and lube the chain and gears, how to change a tire, etc. Unfortunately, I missed the tire changing station somehow and spoke to one of the mechanics about how disappointed I was. He told me not to worry. He said, "Just come up here sometime and ask someone to teach you. If we're not busy, we'll be happy to do it." And so the next time I needed a new tube and tire, I did just that and they kept their word. I don't know if it's just a Jacksonville chain or if it's larger than that but it definitely feels like a good local bike shop. read more

4/5/2022-Stopped by to have my bike worked on. Told they are very busy with no room to store bike, said they would call me to let me know when to bring the bike in and gave me a ticket. 4/8/2022-Called to see when my bike could be brought in. Man who answered the phone was brusque and said they would call after 2 weeks saying they are very busy. 4/16/2022-Returned asking about possible appointment, told them about being given a ticket on the 5th. Employee looked and said there was no evidence of a prior ticket but bring in my bike today and they will get to it next week. 4/27/2022-Called and was told it hasn't been looked at yet!! Something about the ticket was misplaced. Told them I am coming to pickup my bike and get it out of there. Don apologized and promised my bike would be the next one he would be working on. Wonder of wonders Don called me ~2 hours later to pick up my ride. Thank you Don but Champion obviously doesn't need/want my business. It's another Cycle shop from now on. read more

I took my bike in for a basic tune up and the owner tried to give the 'ol filthy mechanic trick to replace everything on the bike. He wanted to replace tires, which I bought less than 4 months ago, chain and sprockets, cables, brakes, shocks, and derailleur (replaced same time as tires). After totaling up a bill of over $300 he then suggested I could just buy a new bike from him. The only thing my bike needed was a tune up! Oil gears and adjustments! I suggest steering clear of this tourist trap and going inland for bike repairs. This guy is a scam artist. read more

My girl friend and I thought it would be fun to bike around for 4th of July, so we booked two bikes from here. When we showed up, apparently they had so many people coming in and out with bikes, that they had rented out the last of the bikes. I was totally ready and ok with a refund, but the owner came out and said "grab two bikes off the floor, rip off the tags, and get them squared away". Two brand new bikes, just for us! That wasn't all, he also chatted with us while the staff got two bikes ready to go, and gave us some great recommendations. We were almost ready to go, but my girl friend couldn't find a parking spot (it being 4th of July and all), so I was waiting outside in the heat while she sorted out the parking problem. Once more, the owner came out, asked that I wait inside, offered me something to drink, and then told me to call my gf and let her know he could park there. Complete disappointment after listening to friends who have come here previously. I ordered a bike from Champion on 6/29/13 and was told it would be ordered Monday. I understand there was a holiday on the fourth, but I was told the bike would definitely be ready by Friday 7/5/13. Still no bike and its Saturday, it sounds like they forgot to order it on Monday. UPDATE: So despite all the headaches the shop has completely redeemed themselves. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have no complaints and do understand that sometimes shipping issues occur. read more

Last time I had my bike tuned up at this cycle store they did a great job at a reasonable price. They replaced the cables for the brakes and shifters. My issue is that when the cables stretched (which is inevitable) when I took the bike back for an adjustment the manager wanted to charge me for the adjustment. I complained and he was rude. I've been an avid cyclist since 1988 and at every bike shop I ever went to if you bought a new bike or if you got new cables they would tell you the cables will stretch and when they do bring it back in and they'll adjust it for free. When I told the manager of Champion Cycling this he said we never work for free. Is this typical for a bike shops around here? Took the bicycle to another bike shop this morning... The owner there said he had put the wrong brake levers on my bike for the type of brakes that were on it. If you read the other reviews on this page about a fifth of them are negative. Unpredictable and moody. read more
