What a disappointment! This company is very difficult to communicate and make plans with. We paid first half of the payment and then had to wait weeks before we could get them to come do the work. And the work was half done, and they refused to come back out to finish the spots they missed, and stated if we wanted more work done we had to pay a lot more. BTW, your reviews on this site are almost universally bad and they are not all that great on Angie's List either. As for BBB, believe it or not they DON'T have a reporting category for overall quality, see the attached picture. That explains your A rating, it's a rating for simply paying your taxes, licensing fees and occasionally answering a phone. As for the few decent reviews you do have, hiring people to give decent reviews apparently is a lot cheaper then actually doing the work you are paid to do. After a complete roof replacement several years ago we had a significant leak that they did not acknowledge until it finally caused considerable internal damage. They indicated they'd reimburse us for the full cost of the repair and then only paid 25%. We are very disappointed in their service and can not recommend them to others. I am not sure why others are having different experiences. I think these guys are honest, forthright, service oriented and efficient. We had water spouting out from gutters which were newly installed last August. This was part of the scope of our roofing work. I reached out to Harry, sent him a video of the water. He responded right away, told me it appeared that the gutters were clogged, and sent people over the very next day. The leaves and debris were removed and everything is functioning perfectly. Horrible experience! Ok so we bought a house on a short sale and the whole roof needed to be redone. We got a couple of estimates and Champion Roofing came the lowest. So we choose them. The job was to redo the whole TPO roof and change all the skylights (12) During the job they dropped some material on a car on the street and I had to take care of that bill! First problem! They didn't want to use their insurance and it was becoming a huge problem with our neighbors. We decided to pay for the car repair and just be done with the problem. They offered to change 2 extra skylights for free... wait ... yes 2 skylights apparently didn't need to be changed so they didn't include them on their estimate!!! When we talked to all the contractors to get estimates we specifically asked to have everything new ... a completely new roof and new skylights... everything new new new!!!The job was done in early spring and early summer we started to have leaks! They said that, the part of the roof that was leaking wasn't on the estimate and they didn't do it... so that's why their estimate was lower! They didn't include all of the roof. 25 % of the roof hasn't been redone and 2 skylights weren't on the estimate either! Their estimate was just $2000 less than the others we got, so that wasn't even justifying that difference in price. The job was over 22K. It took them forever to come up with a new estimate for that other part of the roof and the leaks keeps happening. They were always coming and doing some patching of that old roof and charging us $1000 here, $1000 there but always came up with excuses just not to redo it all... At the end of the summer we contacted a new company and they came and just redid that old roof. We were sooo happy to be done with that roof! Honestly we started to have PTSD every time it rains or snows... Now 2 years into that problem we have a skylight leaking... I called them because the skylights have a 10 years warranty... They told me that they will send somebody in 2 weeks to check it out because they are overbooked. Needless to said that I called somebody else and pay for the skylight to be repair right away! My neighbor hired them to replace her roof and on day one I came home to find that they had driven a bobcat up MY driveway, down MY sidewalk and across MY lawn to then drop a pallet of shingles on MY lawn! I did not use Champion Roofing, but my next door neighbor did. They did a complete tear-off and re-roofing of my neighbor's roof and did damage to my property. We both own three-flats separated by a narrow gangway. They brought the debris from the tear-off down into the gangway. They covered my neighbor's windows with a big tarp, but did not cover mine. When I asked them to do so, they ignored my request. Consequently, I am left with multiple black marks on my brickwork. They also dropped something heavy on my concrete walkway and moved my flower pot over it to cover the damage. Without asking my permission,they ran a water hose from my neighbor's roof over to my roof and flushed debris down my downspout. We heard the water running and asked them to stop. We have a drain that doesn't work so well and didn't want that happening. The gangway has an iron gate which have locks on both sides. They broke the inside lock and now the gate can only be locked from the street side. None of this would have occurred if they had been careful and conscientious workmen with a responsible foreman, but I get the feeling that these guys just didn't care. They just want to rush through the job and move on. read more

I had a durable roof with some small leaks of unknown etiology. Champion Roofing gave me a two quotes; one to caulk in the expectation that a thorough caulking job would fix the leaks and a second for caulking plus a replacement roof. I opted for the caulk and paid $650 for the job. Leaks continued unabated. I then asked for the roof replacement and requested that the $650 I had paid be applied. I thought this made sense since the quote was for caulking plus roof and the caulking had already been done and paid for. Champion only allowed a $350 credit toward the $6500 roof replacement cost. I accepted their terms and they replaced the roof. The new material was not nearly as tough and durable as what was replace. This roof is a walkway and deck area between two apartments so it must stand up to foot traffic and other light usage. During the first rain after replacement, the roof leak as bad or worse than it had ever before. Since the work was, of course, warranted I asked Champion to come out and fix the leaks. They did come and go some patching of what they claimed was damage caused by the tenants. Perhaps this was the case, but the tenants had not done anything unusual or anything they hadn't done without a problem on the old roof. Champion is charging me $550 for this repair, denying that the warranty covered it. The leaks did not stop after this repair and Champion is refusing to come out to fix the problem. There had been a wood deck over part of the roof. It had been there for years without causing any problems with the old roof. The new roof was too flimsy for the deck I was obligated to buy and install an additional layer of roofing material so that I could put the deck back down. In addition, they melted some of the vinyl siding during the installation and they left a couple of sheets of old roof plywood at the job site. Two more calls were required to get these problems taken care of. The tenant and her young daughter, who were home during the roof installation, were appalled by the loud, foul language and the abusive treatment of the crew by the supervisor. read more

I've been bragging on Champion and their salesman, David, since they put our roof on in 2004. Unfortunately, our Bitumin Roofing System developed a leak into our family room last night and even though their website talks about the quick response on leaks, when I called today I was told it would be several days before I heard from them. I am utterly disappointed in the slow response being given to me, a past customer, when I have an actual leak in a roof they installed. I called 5 companies to get estimates for a new garage roof. Within the week, Al was out and I received a thorough estimate via email. After a rainy week, I was told their schedule was backed up, but within 3 weeks, the job was done. The team arrived promptly in the morning and couldn't have been easier to work with. I left as they were tearing off the old roof. When I returned in the late afternoon, the job was done and everything was cleaned up. After a storm did some roof damage, our insurance company approved us for a new roof. Due to people being delayed in calling back I ended up getting 5 quotes from top reviewed companies. Champion Roofing seemed to be the second most professional company we talked to and was by far the cheapest. By the time we chose them is was sometime in September and they advised they wouldn't be able to do it until November. The one thing I didn't like about them is you don't hear they are going to come until 2 days before they are coming out...you don't have to be there for them, so it's not really a big deal. Also, for those who like their hand held, they are pretty down to business...you only hear from them if you call them...not a big deal for me...they answered all my questions pretty quickly. The day came for them to do my roof...they called two days before. I told them "We're having a new baby on that day, can we push it to next spring?" they said "We can either refund your deposit and rebid next spring or we'll hold the deposit and lock in your price." I was impressed with how they worked with me. Now that the roof is done, it looks flawless. The guys stayed late to get the job done in one day and did a good job of cleaning up. My retired neighbor just had his roof redone and watched them all day doing ours...he said "I don't know where you found these guys, but they are doing a perfect job. Everything was laid in a perfect line and even the corner shingles look flawless." They also use Tamko shingles, which many roofers have told me are the best. I have another friend who used them for a roof repair and had similarly good comments. read more

Our roof made by them is great. However, now that we decided to sell our house, we also have to transfer the warranty to the new owners. For this warranty transfer they charge $250!!! That's a rip off!!! The warranty for our new furnace will be transferred at no cost! Why do some companies charge so much? I called them to find out and the only answer I got was: that's how it is :-(. That's far from customer service!!! She called the office to get an explanation of what the $650 included and they told her that is their "service charge". Before I posted this I called their office to make sure there wasn't something more to the story and the woman explained to me that the minimum charge for anything is $650. I am thankful for the roofing service I received from Champion Roofing! After the intense storm of mid-October I had rain water dripping from my bedroom ceiling ! I had 3 estimates. Champion was the lowest. The job turned out to be a lot bigger than expected in that 20 sheets of new plywood was required. I was thinking maybe 3. They began the job at 7;40 AM on a Thur. Rain was expected on Friday. They completed the job at 4;45 PM. Just before dark.The clean up was very good. I had little more to do! The rain came Friday but I remained dry!
