I want to support local businesses, and Reid is only a few blocks away from me, but unfortunately, I would not use them again. I had a 2-flat flat roof completely redone by them in 2021, and 2 weeks later the 2nd floor living room ceiling sprung a leak and started dropping plaster. They came to patch the leak on the roof, but it was up to me to fix the interior damage?? Wtf?? It's now 5 years later and I had another roofer to tell me inadequate sealing at the parapet is likely responsible for more moisture damage on the 2nd floor ceiling (again) Reid came in at $17K, whereas Matthews was $18.5K. I should have gone with Matthew's roofing, in spite of the higher cost. They've been at it for much longer. read more

This was my experience with Reid Roofing. Take what you will. -November we received a quote for soffit repair for a condo building. -January I called to to confirm the quote was still good (left a voicemail) -January after not receiving a call, I called back and reached an employee who said "I will let Andy know and he will get back to you. He's driving right now." -March I called again- left a voicemail -April I called again and spoke to the same employee who said "he is real busy but I will let him know." -April, I spoke to Andy who said he would send someone by to check the site to see if the quote needed to be changed. -May or June, I reached out again, and was able to speak to Andy. I asked if the quote was still good or if he needed to be changed. He said the quote was still good and they would get us "on the schedule" in the next week. -June I spoke with Andy again, having not received any notification of being added to any schedule. He wanted to come the next Friday. I reminded him that was July 4th. He said, we will do it Monday, July 7th. -July 7th, no one showed up. No one emailed. No one called. -July 7th, I called Andy and left a voicemail. -July 8th, I spoke with Andy and he said he was not aware anyone didn't show up. He blamed his crew and said he would get us on the schedule. -July 8th, Andy told me the work would be done and that his Partner, Kevin would be doing the work, Saturday, July 12th. Andy promised me he would connect me with Kevin and assured me Kevin would reach out to me within the hour. -July 8th, you guessed it. No call from Kevin. I called Andy back and he was "shocked" Kevin had not called me but assured me he would. -July 10th, I spoke with Kevin, and confirmed the work would be done Saturday, July 12th. -July 12th- no one showed up. No call. Andy sent an email saying "Hi, I'm sorry to inform you that we must back out of the proposed work..." I am not going to say anyone should or should not use this company. I will just point out that my experience is not unlike ALL of the negative reviews posted. I will NEVER use them nor will I EVER recommend this "company" for any kind of work. I find it interesting that positive reviews for this company always seem to follow immediately after a negative review. I will watch and see if the same thing happens after they read my review. Unresponsive, don't show up when they say they will, roof didn't even last till the end of the warranty and they won't honor it saying its our fault. I inherited a newish roof on the building that was done by Reid roofing in 2017 and every interaction is just a nightmare. They will never respond to email, only sometimes answer the phone, scheduling with them is more of a suggestion than a promise. Their pricing seems pretty average and given that our roof didn't last the 10 years given by their warranty, which again they are trying to weasel out of, their workmanship seems suspect. I honestly don't understand these positive reviews given that my multiple interactions with them, 3-4 times over the past 2 years, have been consistently poor. Scheduling an estimate was a nightmare. The inspector was either severely late or no call/no show several times. Finally, once the inspection was done I was told it would take 1 week to get the estimate. It wound up being over 1 month. Once I got the estimate emailed to me, I contacted them to schedule a date to actually do the job, and didn't hear a peep from them. We got bids from at least 10 other top places in the Chicagoland area to replace a 600 sq. foot garage roof that our deck is going to be built on. Reid was the cheapest and also provided the most comprehensive end-to-end solution. Kevin, the second or third generation owner, is very knowledgable in roofing and masonry work. Why masonry work do you ask? Well, if you're like a huge amount of Chicagoans who decided to buy a condo that was built between the late 1990s to mid 2000s, and has split-face block, you need someone who understands roofing and masonry solutions. As Kevin put it, "it's not the old buildings that keep us busy, it's these buildings from the 2000s." Our parapet wall (made of split-face block) is allowing water penetration, as they all do eventually, and it was causing pooling on the roof, which is one of the reasons it became damaged, and had to be replaced. Kevin, along with maybe one other company, was the only person to recognize this and provide a comprehensive solution. Going with another company who doesn't understand masonry work, is like putting a bandaid on your roof; because if we don't fix our parapet wall, water will eventually damage our new roof. Kevin is just really awesome to talk to, all around nice, and smart guy. Really impressed with them, their service, and their work. I had a roof redone at substantial cost over $10k specifically to stop a leak around a dormer. The area was not properly fixed and I'll need to hire someone else to do it right. I also caught another problem visible from the ground with the way they left a gap between the roof and the gutters. In addition, there were two no shows / no calls in trying to pursue resolution of the issue. If you decide to proceed with this company, you need to be present when work is done and watch it carefully, keeping in mind not everything is visible from the ground. read more

We were between a rock and a hard place this fall when we wmrelaixed we had a serious issue with our roof and bay windows. Because it was so late in the season and the holidaysbwere quickly approaching i figured getting repairs before year end was hopeless. I've lived in my building for a year and half, and our condo association had a relationship with Reid Roofing before I got here. In the time that I've been here they've been out twice to do warranty work. I think this is important for two reasons. First, the warranty work that they were doing was NOT related to anything that they had been improperly done. In fact, they were fixing damage that had been done to their work by another company that providing a different service at our building. The second reason that it is important is that time spent doing warranty work is time not making money elsewhere. That said, Reid Roofing had been very responsive of our calls from the building, they are prompt, and they do what they have committed to with minimal effort on my end, essentially making my life much easier. Their communication is clear and I never doubt where things are in the process. The team that was out today just continues that tradition. Called on Saturday for an emergency service. They gave me an estimate and said they couldn't come that day, but said I would be their first job on Sunday, they even emailed me Sunday morning. We've had Reid do two projects of ours over the last year and have been extremely satisfied. Our first project was roof replacement for our 2-car garage, and that was performed expertly and efficiently. During the course of that work we happened to have a large amount of debris from another house project that needed disposal, and the Reid guys assisted us with that as well. Really helped us out when we needed it. Recently we had need of some special handling for one section of our home's roof that had moisture and leakage issues. A good portion of one bedroom's roof needed replacement, but with modification from the original house design. The work was done, again, expertly and efficiently....however, one specific design element was left out of the mix which defeated part of the purpose of having the work done. We were concerned the entire project would have to be redone, and given it was the middle of busy season, had no idea when this problem might be corrected. In addition, we had other house projects pending, dependent on this work having been done first. Reid responded like the professionals I know them to be. Within two days of the original work being done, the problem was addressed (and then some) with a comprehensive correction which was even better than the original design. No additional cost to us, and full ownership of the problem by Reid. With responsiveness and quality work like we've experienced, I expect we'll be happily having further work done by Reid in the future. read more

Reid Roofing did a complete tear off dwn to the wood on my roof and installed a TPO roof. They did a great job. They insulated my roof, built it up, rebuilt my parapet walls and replaced my limestone copings in the front of the roof and terra cotta copings all around the rest of the roof. They also installed new gutters. The crew was professional and very skilled roofers. They took care to protect the work area, they cleaned up after themselves and completed the project in a timely manner. I cant praise Reid roofing enough. They are the most honest and professional roofing company in Chicago. My sales rep, Andy, was a pleasure to work with. He was very professional, honest and extremely knowledgeable. His crew cleaned my gutters which was not part of the contract, they cleaned the job site every day and were very respectable to my neighbors, wife and pets. I would definitely use them again and refer them to anyone that needs roof work. Before I was referred to Reid Roofing, I called about 5 different roofing companies for estimates. Only received 2 call backs. One company came and I was told the leak in my roof is due to old caulking around my vent stack and around other vents and skylights. They told me that their standard maintenance contract which consists of caulking all windows and vents for $1,500 would fix my leaking roof. He said it would be 8 hrs of work. When he came, his worker was only there for 45 min and the work they did made the leak even worse. At first, the company refused to come back and I had to tell them I would give them bad reviews if he didnt. When he came back, he wouldnt even go on my roof. He flew a drone up and said I need a new roof and wouldn't apply the $1,500 I already paid him to the final costs. Reid roofing is by far the best roofing company in Chicago. read more

Reid Roofing was recommended to me by another roofing company that could not take on my project since it involved too much carpentry. The team at Reid did an excellent job replacing the roof of our front porch, enclosing the inlaid original wood gutters, and adding new gutters. The porch looks polished now, and it will hold up in weather going forward, thanks to the expert work. The Reid team also added flashing to the chimneys on the main roof, and weather-sealed the chimneys. I highly recommend Reid. They treated me like a neighbor from start to finish. We hired Reid Roofing to replace our flat roof that leaked after the "polar vortex". Andy who came to do the inspection and estimates impressed my husband with his knowledge and was very prompt in submitting the proposal and estimates. I want to share our wonderful experience with Kevin and his crew led by Armando who did excellent work. Kevin immediately responded to my inquiry and visited the next day. He took his time checking the condition of our main roof and took many photos. Armando and his crew came out and were terrific patching our main roof with modified bitumen and applying an aluminum coating. I used them a second time to fix a lower roof I had just yesterday. Again Armando and his crew came out and applied modified bitumen on that roof and applied the coating. Everything is perfect.
