A solid 4 star experience while shopping for shoes...who would have known? I had been looking around for shoes for work...I needed very unique specifications. They had to be black and look kinda nice but I wanted them to be comfortable and almost like a tennis shoe. Something dressy enough to go with a shirt and tie but comfortable enough to be on my feet for 8 hours. I ended up at the Pacific View Mall in Ventura like I usually do while looking for things like shoes. I tried a few of the other local stores and stopped by here at Champs Sports. I was immediately greeted by an employee of the store as I walked through the doors and asked if she could help me find anything. I explained the specifics of the shoes I wanted but that I more than likely wanted Nike Shox. She laughed a little and said "yeah everyone wants those at first". She asked me what I was going to be using them for...when I explained that I walked a whole lot at my job and needed shoes that were comfortable but good looking as well. She went to the back and brought out my shoes that I wanted (the Nikes Shox) but also brought out a couple other boxes. I immediately thought jeeze here we go...she's gonna try and sell me some other more expensive crap. Oh how I was wrong. She sat there for like 20 minutes having me try on different shoes...she explained why she thought that the Nike Shox might not be the best shoes for my application and actually recommended some less expensive shoes. She knew SO MUCH about shoes...it was really amazing. The only problem was the fact that the shoes she sold me on and were the most comfortable did not come in the complete solid black like I needed. She did sell me some insoles because she explained that my feet had a high arch and that I needed more support than usual. I think I spent 20 bucks on them and after wearing them for a day I regretted buying them...they just made my feet hurt. I guess next time I just need to stay away from buying random insoles for my shoes. I ultimately ended up not getting any shoes this day...but the experience I had here more than likely saved me from spending 150 bucks on shoes and regretting it later. This will be the place I go to when I do buy my next pair of shoes. :0) read more

I came in to return some shoes the employee was very nice and helped me out and explained to me they will get the right order to my house, the employees were very helpful and the store looked nice and clean, sanitizer available and employees wore masks, you can wear your mask or not. I would like to complain regarding my visit with the champs at the Ventura pacific view mall, the male manager that was on duty was rude and discriminating, not only did he accuse us of stealing a pair of shoes where we already purchased and was going to do an exchange. He not only rudely grab the box out of my hand but didn't handle it very well and had someone else come and deal with us it's VERY unprofessional to us and this is who you wanted represent your company? Go ahead you'll eventually go out of business if you KEEP up that kind of customer service. We will never be coming back and supporting the business. read more

I went into Champs expecting an unpleasant situation as per all the other reviews. I am elated to say, that was not the case. The General Manager Cesar helped me and it was clear from the start, he had a heart for his customers and was trained well. I had an issue with a pair of shoes (Joyride $200) and he was so empathetic, knowledgeable,and understanding! He remedied the situation and now he has a customer for life and my family of 5. We will make sure your store's numbers grow! If Champs is smart, they will continue to promote this young man!! read more

A awesome worker helped me tonight awesome customer service his name was estaban. I was looking for running shoes and found a pair that fit perfect butt...construction orange in color my wife was not digging that color . So he even showed me other colors that shoe came in on the computer, but we found out they were out if my size. so he even brought out 3 pairs of shoes I picked out. I endend up purchasing one pair then walked into footlocker and found the same shoe on sale so I went back to the store and asked him if they priced matched cause they were were on sale at footlocker he said yes they do and beat there price by going 2 dollars lower than footlocker. Awseome place to buy shoes nice freindly people work there , j t actually made buying shoes fun . read more

Terrible. I went to look at some new nikes, asked for my size, tried on both pair, and made a decision. When I went to check out they were suddenly 30$ more than what was priced on the display. He "checked" with his manager, who said there was "nothing we can really do about it" then proceeded to tell me "a little girl was playing over there she probably switch some things around" which is odd seeing as whatever she switch it with happened to be the exact shoe I was purchasing. So bizarre. So not only was it misprinted on price, they couldn't honor their mistake, and theeennn offered up some ridiculous lie to pacify me and complete the purchase. I definitely didn't. I would have if maybe they handled it differently. I'd rather give my extra 30$ to someone who doesn't feed bullshit, and owns up to their obvious mistake. read more

Honestly this was the worst experience by far! I go in to exchange my dads shoes because we got them the wrong size and once we got to check out the guy ringing us out his name is Ramon was the worst employee we have ever delt with! Attitude, disrespectful, and on top of it he was yelling at us. When asked for his area manager Steve card he denied and said i had no business talking to him. If corporate Champs is looking at this I dont understand how you can have an employee who has no care for a great customer experience, I have spent thousands throughout the years at this location and this is by far the worst experience! I would leave negative stars if I could. My fiancé bought shoes here two weeks ago. Wore them inside the store to see how they fit. When he got home they were an off shade of grey so we bought a new pair online and went to return these to the store today. We were told we couldn't return them because they were used?! So wearing them to try them on in the store makes the bottoms dirty and that counts as used?! Worst customer service I've ever experienced and I own a customer focused business. read more

The customer service here is ridiculous when it comes to some certain females in the store. An African American female whom I was told was in charge, had something negative to say when I was getting complimented by other workers about my 11's that I was wearing at the time of my purchase. For one, if a customer can hear you talking negative things towards them, then that's a problem! If she is to be in charge of a store only, like the other workers explained, she desperately needs help with her customer service skills. The little power of authority she was given is making her feel like she is the CEO of champs. She even made my mother in law feel uncomfortable with her ridiculous mugging stares when I was trying to purchase shoes. Worst costumer service ever. I walked in to the store, I was the only customer in the store & the African American woman working didn't say one word. So I sat down & looked for shoes. When I asked for a size she said she didn't have it. Never bothered to check on the computer or in the back.. I asked what shoes they did have in my size & she said they didn't carry ANY AT ALL.
