Chances R...you'll get sick. We happened in on a Sunday at 11:30 am and were greeted by friendly staff who offered up a breakfast buffet and a menu with only breakfast items. That's fine. We will have the breakfast buffet at $8.95/person, please. The food was decent...some good; some not so good (avoid the pancakes which can only be described as "hard-tack"), but I really wish we had been seated someplace where we couldn't actually see the buffet. While my husband was using the tongs to get some bacon, a server reached in with bare hands to grab a piece of bacon, which she then shoved half into her mouth. The other half she flung onto a table of what I can only assume were regulars, who laughed. We then glanced at the omelet bar where cook was using bare hands to separate a yolk from the egg white. She then wiped the sweat off her face and wiped her hand on her jeans, then plunged the hand into the shredded cheese...all while deftly flipping an omelet in another pan. I'm sure a lot of this stuff goes on "behind the scenes" at other places...but that's where it should stay. Ugh! We were all so grossed out by the time we paid our bill. Slooooow service and when our waitress came by slid our food on the table, surprised it didn't end up on the floor. Food is mediocre at best. Had the baked catfish, which was dry and mash potatoes and gravy that were cold. 14.00 waste of money. read more

I've always heard great things about this place, but I had a horrible experience here. We had to ask for spoons for our coffee, and again for silverware for our meals. I ordered the French Toast with sausage and a side of 2 scrambled eggs. The eggs and French Toast were cold by the time I got them and my sausage was still raw in the middle and had to be redone. My mother's food was also undercooked. Our server was really nice and very polite, but the man who seated us wasn't very friendly. I won't be a return customer. read more

Food is always excellent! Only suggestion I have is please add a couple of craft beers. There is a lot of us out there that like something other than beer water. Bottles does not do it, for craft must be draft. read more

We stumbled across this restaurant/bar at Lake of the Ozarks. We went rather late in the evening but still had great service. I ordered the chicken fried chicken which was much bigger than I anticipated, so I ended up having leftovers to take back to the resort. There was a noticeable smell of cigarette smoke in the restaurant which is the only downside. read more

Chances R is our favorite restaurant at Lake of the Ozarks. Great home cooked food at a reasonable price and they treat you like family. Don't miss their homemade soups or the hand breaded fried chicken! The breakfast buffet is terrific (Sundays only in the winter) you can have a Bloody Mary or screwdriver for starters, and Ann Marie makes a mean omelette! My husband and I make it a point to eat there at least a couple of times every time we come to the lake. read more

Food and service was great and my brother said best onion ring he's ever had, definitely coming back

Got there around 1:30 PM, not busy, bartender behind bar looked at us and turned her back, waitress saw us also, did not acknowledge us. We were left standing in a dining area with no one sitting at tables, I finally just asked out loud, "Do we seat ourselves?" Waitress came out and said "Yes". Not a good first impression. Ordered from the menu, Rueben sandwich, with 3 LARGE onion rings, appetizer of fried mushrooms and bacon cheese burger again with 3 LARGE onion rings. Took awhile getting food, but each order is made from scratch and really shows in the great taste and size of each order. Cheese burger was grilled and tasted great, onion rings and mushrooms breaded just right and were great also. Rueben was good, but next time I will ask for less corn beef (very large amount) and more sauerkraut. Over all great food, but could work on customer service. Ended up taking half the Rueben, 3 onion rings and half the mushrooms home. Price is good for value and size of order. We will go back. read more
