We went to Jolly Rodgers by boat on a fairly hot day. They don't have any fans or anything going so it was pretty stagnant and humid. I don't necessarily blame them for that because that's just outside, but I felt like they could try to keep the flies away in someway because they were thick. I ended up ordering tacos and the meat came cold. They ended up remaking them and they were fine, but nothing to write home about some of the other things that people that I was with looked a little bit better, but it would definitely not be a recommendation from me. So this place is usually thee spot in the area! With music, brunch, games for kids etc. The view and staff was perfection. Now I will say I came during off season so the big menu of choices u no longer get when I came. One side menu with no chicken wings! They even have a cute pirate ship that can be rented out and boats can pull up to dock here. If it's busy there is two parking lots and a pinch of stairs. No one wants to smell that while they're eating their food if you need to clean a table maybe just try soap and water? The brunch is awesome! We had brunch here on Memorial day and it did not disappoint! Our server, Michelle, was friendly and met every request! The brunch buffet was amazing! They had different types of pancakes, pineapple upside down, cinnamon roll, chocolate chip, and regular just to name a few. They also had French toast and waffles/choco chip waffles. They had an omelet station and an eggs Benedict/steak station. Desserts, meatloaf/mac n cheese/mashed potatoes... stir fry/kongolian station, a gumbo station and of course biscuits gravy, bacon sausage, and hash browns. They also had breads, bagels, croissants... so many options and it was all fresh and delicious! My daughter and I popped into the little shop and purchased some mood rings... they had a small arcade area and a play area with swings. Love this place! Beautiful night to eat on the deck. Super friendly staff from hostess, bartender, waitress and manager. I ordered the steak bowl which had steak, rice, black beans, queso blanco, lettuce, sautéed onions and peppers and topped with tortilla strips. Great initial presentation. My first couple bites of the steak were tough. I suggest finding a way of serving very tender steak. After the first 5-6 bites the bowl looked like a mess because of the queso. Visually the bowl didn't look appealing. I would prefer the queso blanco on the side that way I could add as much as I would like as I ate the bowl. The steak bowl has some great flavors but it was being overpowered by the queso. A couple small changes would have a big impact for me. read more

We stopped in to try the breakfast buffet and were not disappointed! The made to order omelets were delicious and the French toast was amazing! My daughters had made to order pancakes and loved them. You can't find a better price for the amount of food you can choose from. The staff is amazing and is constantly on top of things so it never feels busy even though it was pretty packed. You can come by boat or car. I highly suggest dropping in. They also have a full schedule of live music in the evenings. We will definitely be back! read more

Do not do it. I lost my debit card at the restaurant, due to some gaps in their flooring, and the manager named Heather let me know she had no intention of retrieving it. So here I am, in the Lake of the Ozarks, without my debit card for 2/3rds of the weekend. I will be contacting local media regarding this interaction. ** 6/2/24 Edited to add response: Whether or not the card IS retrieved, I was visiting and I have no way to come back to get the card. Sure, the card can be destroyed once the flooring is taken up. The card is defunct whether or not you do retrieve it, so Heather can rest assured that the floor does not need to come up. That does not negate the fact that this issue needs to be addressed. I understand it was a rare occurrence that the card happened to fall that way, but simply saying, WE CANNOT PULL UP THE FLOOR in the rudest tone helps no one. There was no apology from Heather, but the server did apologize, and the server couldn't have been nicer. I learned after the fact that the server didn't get a very good tip from my table, and while I hate that, I also wasn't able to tip my normal 20-25% tip (would've been higher since that server went above and beyond, she was truly sweet) because my debit card was stuck under your floor. I hate that any of this came back on our server - she did what she could with what she had available. I'm lucky I was visiting with family and friends who could cover the bill for me, but what if I had been traveling alone? I only carry one debit card and as this is a newer card, it was not yet connected to my Apple Pay so I could not pay that way, unfortunately. If I had been traveling alone, I would have been up a creek without a paddle or money, and without so much as even an apology from your establishment when it happened. Instead, I garnered stares from restaurant staff and guests, as I desperately tried to get my card back from under the floorboard. I've never felt more humiliated in my life as I cried in public, and while I'm usually able to hold my own and I believe crying in public is actually fine most of the time, Heather made me feel like vermin. I have contacted Fox 2's (St. Louis local news channel) Elliott Davis for his 'You Paid For It' feature regarding this issue. After all, we paid over $500 for the pirate cruise and lunch. This place is so loud! They could have lowered the speaker volume by several levels and it still would have been loud. We tried to have a conversation and enjoy our time here and we had to go out to the end of the dock just to not hear the constant PA announcements. The two good parts of this is that it is for a charity and the pirate boat itself is pretty fun. The boat can pick you up from your house if you rent it out and take you there. Even though the drinks are pricy and the music was preselected pirate music, the boat itself was great to enjoy the area and even has a cover to protect you if it rains. The food it came from was very subpar and didn't have very many vegetarian options. The gambling itself could be fun if that is the main reason your here but it's really packed and (just like most gambling) you are really favored to lose all your money even if you win more tickets. That being said, some of the money goes to a good cause so even if most people lose it, it is part of the fun. I personally thought it was implied that you had to pay for the gambling package if you were going here from the pirate boat, otherwise I would have just skipped it. All of this being said, I can see why others would enjoy this place but it wasn't our thing. read more

In a way it's nice to have a buffet you can drop into at the lake. They go all out on weekends with many guys making omelettes plus a station doing eggs bennys plus you can get a big burrito at the omelette station and pick your ingredients. The line has all the usual things. Really good bacon cooked well and eggs, hash browns, B&G, fruit, pastries. Always friendly wait staff brings your drinks and you can visit the parrot that talks and does tricks at the bar. But typically I'm not a fan of buffets. I would rather order off menu but this breakfast/brunch buffet is top notch. Also have a pirate ship ppl take on tours of the lake I think. I drive the boat there so we haven't done the pirate ship ride. I think it would be good for young kids or elderly who want to see a little more of the lake read more

Wow, really! You allow dogs in a restaurant, and no, they are not service dogs. If you can't go to a restaurant or a store without your dog you are pathetic! The one at the table behind us almost bit our waitress and would have gone after another dog had that owner not stepped in between. Only legitimate service dogs for the blind, or those with epilepsy, etc., should be allowed, but not general pets. That said the food is decent and typical prices for vacation area. They are pretty accommodating for gluten issues folks, a big plus for my wife even the fries are kept in a separate separate fryer from batter fried items and the first time she had French fries in ages. The service was very good and our server very gracious even though she was almost bit. I would recommend with a caveat to the owner. If you really want to allow pets, have a pet and no pet area. I would give 5 stars if that were attended to. The music could be turned down quite a bit too. read more

Jolly Rogers is such a great choice for your lake trip. It's my preferred restaurant/bar because of the excellent menu options and drinks. The staff is very friendly, they even accommodated us and served us on our boat since we had someone who was handicapped with us. Every once in a while you come across a restaurant where you can close your eyes, drop a finger on the menu, and whatever it lands on is going to be good. This is one of those places. You have to switch it up every so often but usually I get the Buffalo wings, which are outstanding. Today, I tried the Buffalo Mac and cheese, seriously, the best Mac and cheese ever!
