Fantastic as long as you set your expectations! We had a great experience ordering from here this weekend, and I am SO relieved we found a wonderful, VERY inexpensive spot for Chinese takeout right near our home. Located in the Dollar Tree plaza in Beechwood, Chang Lung is convenient to MANY neighborhoods - NOTA, NWV, Beechwood, Laurelton, and more. Great central location and easy pickup. Why 4 stars? Cash preferred/pretty much cash only (used the excuse that their card reader is broken but I've read that this is the case fairly often) and fairly long wait time to order. Also, weird dumplings. Don't get me wrong, I still ate them. But they are odd. Otherwise, our food was the sodium-packed, artificial Chinese goodness we were craving. Sesame chicken was some of the best I've had in awhile, lo mein was greasy as heck and hit the spot, and wonton soup was also fantastic. I will also say their white rice is steamed beautifully and came to us with a stickier/sweeter finish, which is my preference. Fortunate cookies are included in your takeout order and it seems like no matter what you get, it will be ready for you in 20 minutes flat. We will be back here many times again in the future. We got ~4 meals worth of food for two hungry humans (wonton soup, dumplings, lo mein, sesame chicken) at $21. Happy eating!

I was worried that after moving into the city I wouldn't be able to find a place with chinese like at home. After an exhaustive search for good Chinese, we found Chang Lung. This has been our favorite spot for 2 years now. First things first: The food here is great! I order the sesame chicken and I think its the best we've tried. No matter what time of day you call there's a good chance you'll be put on a brief hold because they are that busy. Wait time is about 20 minutes after your order is placed. 30 if its the busy hour. They do not deliver, but the food is worth the drive. They also consistently stuff the to go containers with generous helpings of what you ordered. And the food is well packaged, without leaks or spills and honestly it was so pretty when I took it out of the bag I had to take this picture of it! If your regular chinese place is 'OK', I recommend giving Chang Lung a chance. They are epic!

Best Chinese food in my area. They do have a card minimum of $10. The area is kind of sketchy but the food will draw you to come again. I ordered the lunch special: General Tso with pork fried rice. The special came with your choice of soda or soup and I chose the won-ton soup. I also ordered a side of chicken wings to meet the minimum for card. Food took about 10minutes and remained hot and fresh on my trip home. You definitely get a bang for your buck. The worker was very nice too! So, if you're looking for a decent lunch, late night meal, or a cheat meal, this is your place to go!

Chicken w/ broccoli special lunch. Comes with pork fried rice. soup or can soda.

I have been hitting a lot of duds lately with Chinese places. My usual places that I have been ordering from for the last 3 years all have come up short. This led me to do some thinking on what are some places I have tried once but forgot what the food was like. Chang Lung was that place for sure. I tried it once a long time ago but it didn't stick with me. Most likely because at the time I had a handful of my go-to places that I ordered from. Also Chang Lung is out of my way. Well my go-to places are few n far between these days. Which is why I am happy to add Chang to my list of go-to "hole in the wall" Chinese food places that won't break the bank...unlike those full on Dine-in Chinese restaurants. What I tried and loved- The sesame chicken The pork fried rice WonTon soup Hot n spicy beef What I tried and liked.. Chicken w/ broccoli Hot n sour soup- needed to add a hotsauce packet to make it taste good. if you're going here expecting to find unique sauces and original chef creations...you probably won't like chang. But if you come here expecting to order your favorites with similar flavor profiles you find in 95% of the take out places...you will be very pleased. I look forward to ordering here more often.

The spot has that old-school Chinese takeout vibe: simple, clean, and focused on flavor, not flash. --- What I Ordered: General Tso's Chicken Shrimp Lo Mein Crab Rangoons Egg Roll Steamed Dumplings --- General Tso's Chicken: Sweet, spicy, and crispy - exactly how it should be. The sauce had a good kick without overpowering the flavor. Chicken was tender inside with that golden crunch. Easily one of the best in the area. Shrimp Lo Mein: Noodles were cooked just right - not too greasy, not too dry. Shrimp was fresh and had good bite. Could use a little more garlic or soy for depth, but still solid. Crab Rangoons: Creamy, crunchy, and packed with flavor. These were a hit. You get that satisfying crunch with the creamy crab filling - not overly sweet like some spots do. Steamed Dumplings: Soft and juicy with a flavorful pork filling. Dipping sauce was on point. Not doughy, just right. Egg Roll: Golden and crispy with a nice balance of cabbage and pork inside. Great with the duck sauce. --- Pros: Big portions, great value Fast service Hits all the nostalgic Chinese takeout cravings Clean and well-packaged Cons: Lo mein could use a little more flavor Limited seating (best for takeout) --- Final Verdict (8.9/10): New Number One Chinese Restaurant is bringing the heat. Classic Chinese-American dishes done right. If you're craving comfort food that hits every time, this place delivers - literally and figuratively. Perfect for a late-night boss fight meal or chilling after a long grind. Let me know what YOU always order from your local Chinese spot - and drop your suggestions for the next food battle

It was dimly lit by design and had a really cool atmosphere. There were fairy lights, small lamps, and quiet instrumental music playing in the background. It sounded very similar to the soundtrack of Hyrule Field in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The food was tasty and very authentic! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about celiac disease and cross contamination. Everything on their menu is clearly marked if it's spicy and/or can be made gluten free, too! They have a big selection, and if my family's meals were anything to go by, everything is great. If I lived anywhere close to here, I would be a regular. Both qualities that I tend to like as long as a restaurant is clean... and Chen's was. The food was decent but nothing special. The garlic sauce didn't taste like garlic... More like brown sugar really. The sweet and sour wasn't great either. To be fair, the friends that we went with loved their dinners. The killer was the rude server. We had barely finished eating and weren't planning to linger but apparently finishing our drinks and chatting for five minutes was a bit too much for him. He told us that there were customers waiting and that we had to leave. I might note that there were a few empty tables at that time but even if there weren't that poor behavior was uncalled for. We won't be going back to Chen's.

So! Out of everything i ordered (see pics) I didn't try the soup dumpling but my kiddo (who are the whole steamer) said it was good. Everything was hot and delicious and taste like NYC dim sum (iykyk) except -the turnip cake (too oily and mushy) - fried dough noodle (too much wrapping, dough not fresh and crispy enough) - egg tarts (new and only available on weekends according to their menu - I am a BIG egg tarts fan and unfortunately these were disappointing: crust was fine but filling was baked eggs and not the classic flan-like type of an egg tarts). 3-4 other families came in for dim sum, it was more lively and they turned on low classical music so lovelier ambiance than when we first walked in. Wait staff was very friendly and polite. Only negative thing were the sticky plastic spoons they gave to share the congee bowl. After recovering from a recent stomach bug I have to be super critical of dining utensils so gotta ding a star off for that. Prices were more expensive than normal for dim sum but we were expected that - just glad they didn't decrease the quantity like some places! All in all, we would come back again for dim sum :)

They remade my correct order, but never offered a refund or even discount to make up for their mistake and the fact that I hade to drive back there from my office after discovering I had the wrong meal. Today I got my usual order (stir fried rice noodles with pork and veggies) and drove back to my office. I got a few bites in and found a fly in my meal. I had to pack it back up, leave the office, and drive back to the restaurant. I showed them the fly, and they were apologetic, but only offered to remake my meal OR give me a refund. Given that I was very hungry and didn't have much of my lunch hour left, I told them to remake it. I dis tell them that I felt they should give me a refund and remake the meal, but they said that they could not do that. I had to sit and wait for them to make me new food, and the only other thing they were willing to do for me was give me an iced coffee (which, for the record, was disgusting). I don't know that I will be going back, which is unfortunate because it is one of my preferred lunch spots. The customer service is just horrible.

Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.
