I've been coming here for years. They've always had some great food specials, always friendly staff, and a fun place to go. I would have always given it a 4 or 5 star rating. I have always enjoyed and recommended The Channel Marker. However, the last couple times I've showed up in the last 3 weeks haven't been so good. In fact, last night we waited almost 15 minutes to get served and then 50 minutes to get our food. Everything we got was cold.......even the baked potato. My wife said she doesn't want to come back. The staff was apologetic, but it turns out that there is new ownership in the last few weeks and half the staff has quit. That's not a good sign and I only hope they can figure out what's wrong before it buries them. It's always been a wonderful place to go, but I will have to give it 2 stars since the ownership change. Awesome service. Real friendly '90's baby' server was super attentive and quick to respond. We went mid day for a beer and some noshes to hold us off til dinner. The nacho appetizer was enough for 5 of us with enough left over for snacking later on. Burgers were good, steak bits great. Atmosphere comfortable and casual. Been a very regular diner at this place since 2008 in both locations. Went with 3 friends last week and was sorely disappointed. Only four tables full in dining room and our orders were not taken for over 20 min. Then our orders took 25 min to come. Fish and chips were greasy and seemed like they had been under a heat lamp for a long time. Jojos were not crisp at all and much smaller than in past. French dip was filled with very dry meat and was lukewarm..in the past these meals were always good quality. I guess i should have noticed that there was not a single employee there that i was familiar with. What a shame to see such a dependable restaurant sink low. I might try it one more time to see if this was a fluke. I fear new ownership has ruined one of Edmonds' most dependable casual eateries. read more

Weekly lunch at Channel Marker. I tried to do this privately but the email system wants to know what I have say. Then the system says if we accept your email we will respond. Apparently they did not accept me. I do not want compensation. I do not want to complain. I simply wanted to let them know after I ate lunch at Channel Marker on Sunday, April 23, I became violently ill. It was about 6 hours after eating. Today is day 3 of recuperating. My doctor said it was salmonella. I was simply trying to give the owner, manager, cook the heads up. So they could toss out the batch of lettuce. I had a salad. Clearly it was tainted. I didn't know you could elevate tater tots, but these folks do it. The sandwiches are good, salads are good, and the tots are great! In the summer we like sitting under an umbrella at one of their outdoor patio tables. Good selection of draft beers and the servers are friendly. We always enjoy eating here. read more

I was recommended to come here from the brewmaster at Gallagher's a local taproom brewery. I was hesitant because of the notion of barfood however it worked out that this was my best choice. As it was I was quite delighted with the fish sandwich that I had was definitely a couple notches above a McDonald's andonald's and it tasted great. I suffered no ill effects and they also looked like they had a good selection of beer though I continued my way to gallaghers for the beer. However I will be returning for what appears to be a good selection of very decent sandwiches. Also the service was positive the waitresses were positive even on a busy Friday night and my food take out order was given to me in about 10 minutes unbelievably fast. Channel Marker is a sports bar that has cheap food equivalent to a fast food place, is 21+ over only, and is open late. Came in for dinner to use a BOGO free coupon out of the Entertainment Book. Turned out their menu was freshly printed from MS Works on bright yellow paper and the prices were $9-$15 an entree. We got the jalepeno burger and a fish sandwich. The fish seemed fresh but was really watery. I had to eat it with a fork and knife as a result. The man reported his burger was just ok, nothing to complain about on it. Fries were fine, not good, not bad. No tartar sauce on the fish sandwich and the waitress ran away too fast to ask her for some. Half of the bar has tables and chairs with patio seating while the other half is full of pool tables and video games. There are TV's all along the wall playing various sports and a lot of sports memorabilia on the walls. The waitress was quick to greet us after we seated ourselves. She checked on us once. Open till 1 am during the week and till 2 am on Friday and Saturday. Small private parking lot. We came, we saw, we won't be back but probably a place to grab a drink or hang out for some. Wow-- that didn't go well on a couple levels. I thought restaurants were in the service business-- apparently not at the Channel Marker, at least IMO: -- Was told twice the cook "wouldn't like it" when I asked for scrambled eggs made with "egg whites." (The restaurant had just seven tables occupied-- five of which already had food... and the cook was just at standing kitchen entry just staring at the tables and drinking from a tumbler-- so not too busy. Happy to pay extra for the few seconds it takes to separate the egg yolks.) -- They charge $2.75 for a soda (numerous online menus says $1.75... with 1-re-fill. OK, not problem. But-- then DON'T serve it with 90+% ice. 2-sips and the glass was empty of soda, just all ice. My wife and I just laughed in disbelief. (BTW--they haven't even taken the time to have upload a menu to their website, either... customer service?) Ok, though maybe a first 2-oz soda was a mis-fill/ice over-fill. When I ask for my re-filled-- it came back with even MORE ice! -- Asked for DIET Coke-- got regular Coke. Happened TWICE. -- Result: Paid $2.75 ($1 more than advertised) for ~4oz(total) of the wrong soda. Skipped the breakfast-- didn't want to "upset" the cook. I didn't even bother to mention any of these to the wait staff-- given the general demeanor in response to my too onerous "egg white" request. Was meeting my friends who were already inside, one of them came out to get me and the bouncer didn't let me in and told me I had to wait in line. Totally understandable-- however, instead of telling me that in a respectable manner he proceeds to yell at me very aggressively. I was not aggressive or rude in any way, and it was a very scary and I did not feel safe. That response was unwarranted for someone who was not being aggressive back or belligerent. He was extremely rude to my friends and according to them he was not there before , wasn't even checking IDs or anything. He also got physical with them, getting very close and shutting the door on my friend; she has a bruise from it. I value customer service as someone who has worked in the industry many years, so it was just disappointing. Service here has gone down from what I've heard around town so it adds up. I've been before and everyone who works inside seemed fine. This one experience probably won't keep me from returning but it did suck. AWFUL SERVICE hope you never get sarah as a waitress. She never came by to see if we if we needed anything after serving us dinner, she complained the whole time to other servers and customers about her night. We had to flag her her down for condiments, service and a bill. We had been there for many years for amazing 2 for one steak night, except after Roz left due to covid layoffs. She was slow, but personable, helpful, and knew her customers. Sarah was more concerned about janitor work, other than being a server. Shameful. read more

Came here to watch Game 1 of the NBA finals and received a warm greeting from one of the servers. Nice dude. However, my server asked me what I wanted to drink before I sat down; she made a smart ass comment about me only wanting water; and after she gave me my water I never saw her again. I sat there for 27 minutes and she never looked in my direction let alone walked by. She did, however, find the time to sit down with patrons at the next table and chat it up, which is when I finally left. I've been sober for 5+ years so I always order appetizers and extra food and I tip at least 25% when I go to a sports bar to make up for not ordering alcohol, but she never gave me the chance. One of the best aspects of the Edmonds Marina district.... not much from the outside, but inside is where the good stuff is... don't judge from the shaded windows with beer logos lit up at night :-) The staff are WONDERFUL - I have been served by Gina and by Beth over a couple of visits here recently and both were just super sweet, and totally on top of their game getting customers served. They always want to know their customers names, and remember them... such a nice touch. Happy hour prices are excellent - with a number of great specials to choose from drink-wise and food-wise. I had the "broasted wings" (naked, sauce on the side, which I'd recommend - add your own sauce as you see fit).... OMG they were simply amazing!!! Melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Given that this bar & grill is right behind my "new standard hotel" in Edmonds on business trips, this too will become a new standard. The Channel Marker is a great bar in Edmonds right on the waterfront....probably my favorite bar in Edmonds. It's not a fancy place. A bit on the "divey" side I suppose. But they have stiff drinks and good food. The people who work there are down to earth and nice, especially Bobby and Gina. And the kitchen crew knows their stuff. The dip was salty but still good, much better than i would have expected for bar food! They are often very busy and the staff works very hard to take care of everyone in an efficient manner. Thank you for having Budweiser on tap!! I used to always order the Halibut Bite appetizer, but understand the price of halibut has gone up a lot, but at $19.99 for 10 small bites, I can't justify the $2 per bite. The vibe is nice for our customers, however the morale is total garbage if you are a hard working, honest, & respectful employee. I have witnessed on many occasions the new owners inappropriately gossiping about other employees to others, and he has personally been extremely unpleasant as well as quiet oblivious to reality. The food is your usual bar/pub food but one thing I will say, is the cooks do a phenomenal job & DO care! They fired THE best bartender they had, after they falsely accused her of stealing 800$ BEHIND her back, only to tell her via text message she was being let go for other issues... this place is a train wreck and being ran right into the ground! The "managers" are the furthest thing from unprofessional. Be aware of the snakes in this establishment. I was fired via text message due to standing up for this foul treatment and disturbing stuff that goes in behind the scenes!!! The food is typical pub food, which is totally fine with me. Just don't expect anything amazing. They had three IPAs on tap, including a favorite, Total Domination. We sat out on the patio, which is small yet nice. Every table out there has an umbrella. The bartender who also happened to be our server, apologized for how dirty the table was because there were still empty pint glasses there - but it really wasn't dirty. There are slot machines inside and because we came in the middle of the day after playing tennis, there were only a couple groups there, who mostly sat at the bar - most likely locals. I really like the bar. My husband and I had a nice date night playing darts and pool. This was on a Wednesday and the bar was practically our own. I like the local beer selection. The bartender Bobby is really great at what he does too! I went back on a Friday night and it is a different feel busy and a lot of locals hang here. I will definitely be back next time I am in the area. It's just a chill place where you can hang and not feel like you are spending an arm and a leg for a drink. One of the go to spots in Edmonds. Strong drinks for a good price. Service is good for such a busy bar on weekends. Food is decent and actually edible unlike other bars. Lots of games including darts, pool, pull tabs, big buck hunter, and more. They also allow you to leave your car overnight if you ask for a pass and pick it up by noon. (Visited Saturday, lunch hour) Never was impressed by the old location. Seemed like trouble most of the time. A breeding ground for the disenfranchised locals; angry drinking the tough times away, desperately clinging to high school glory years. You all KNOW that type of bar. This weekend I found myself part of a wedding party staying at the Best Western next door and the Marker was just a crawl away at it's new location. Thought I'd give it a whirl again. Popped in for a brief 'brunch stop', grabbed a quick brew and caught some college ball. New building/floor setup was the first thing to catch my attention. LOVE the new location. Smaller, yes, but definitely more cozy and just seemed to give it a bit more character and class. Service was ON POINT. Bartender (Jimmi?) was the best you can hope for in a sports/dive bar. ON IT with everything and just like clockwork. Fresh beers and water refills, check-ins, silverware, the whole 9 yards without blinking as he chatted up the entire bar on the latest college football scores. Witty without being snarky and calm,cool & collected like he could run the place blindfolded. The locals there seemed to love him and it showed that he had established a fine rapport with the community. I appreciated it. Even the 'edgy' interactions with the caricature-of-a-cocktail waitress (who was kickin' serious butt, too), these two just ran the place with precision, speed and wit. Great spot for sports- TVs were placed accordingly and a good amount scattered throughout. Decent energy to the crowd and plenty of decent beer and spirits. Food was the lower point. Although not bad, nothing much to write home about. The fish sandwich seemed to be typical food service shlub and the captain's seafood platter could've been identical to one in Topeka, Kansas (not saying much for a town on the Puget Sound), but all-in-all, it was basic pub grub at a decent price. I just missed the breakfast menu and some of the wedding party DID mention the Chicken fried steak was delicious. I didn't make it over later that night with the wedding party, but kudos for putting up with them, Channel Marker ;) Maybe my review would have been different in the evening time (if the flavor of customer hadn't changed since the older days), but I certainly enjoyed this last visit. read more
