Arrived in Bay City on a Michigan motorcycle trip and got a recommendation to try Blossoms for something the local folk like. It was great. Friendly staff greeted us (the hostess with the red hair was especially nice and engaging). Zach took great care of us and his personal recommendations were . I had the Malaysian Curry Laksa (chicken) and my daughter had the Malaysian Fried Noodles (beef). Both had great flavor and spice to warm us up after a cool bike ride. Whenever I go to bay city I like to pick up a takeout and go to Tri City Brewery which allows me to bring my dog in with me, and enjoy delicious food and a good brew. There is one warning, they usually put the curry liquid in a cup and set it in the worse part of the bag, and it's guaranteed to spill. Be sure to take out the curry cup and put in your cup holder to ensure you get to enjoy every delicious drop. read more

We were driving through Michigan visiting family and I hadn't had any Chinese food in a week, so was really craving some shrimp fried rice. I'm kinda a tough customer as I am both Taiwanese and a culinary school grad. I did not have much hope finding anything authentic. After checking out the reviews, we decided Blossoms may be our best bet for dine in service. A lot of Chinese restaurants were carry out only. Upon entering the strip mall location, the room was clean and pleasant enough although it did have a faint chemical smell. After visiting the restrooms, I would recommend a less potent air freshener to eliminate any unwanted scents. The lunch menu was concise but with a nice variety of Asian options including Chinese, Korean, and sushi. I stuck with my craving and got shrimp fried rice. This basic dish can speak volumes about the quality of the rest of the menu. Hubs got the bulgolgi, the quintessential Korean staple. Both came with egg rolls and choice of soup. The egg rolls were crispy but pretty standard. It needed hot mustard but they didn't carry it! Our waiter brought some sweet Chile sauce instead which was better actually. The egg drop soup however, was devine! Velvety and fragrant with a hint of sesame oil and no unnecessary ingredients that some Chinese restaurants always want to throw in much to my annoyance. Most importantly, it was hot! Nothing irks me more than lukewarm soup, even in the heat of summer. I sampled my husband's hot and sour soup which was delicious as well, nice amount of heat and tartness. Happily, our entrees were as delicious as the starters. My fried rice was pretty much perfect. Seasoned with just the right amount of salt and white pepper, and not overly unctuous, It was dotted with plenty of fresh and juicy shrimp. It also went really well with the sweet Chile sauce from the egg rolls. My husband's bulgolgi was perfectly seasoned and mouthwateringly tender. It came with rice. Both portions were substantial and I had leftovers for dinner. For the quality of food and friendly service, you cannot beat the price. I regret not being able to sample more of the menu. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone craving Asian food. The chef knows what they are doing. read more

They offer no sauce other than soy sauce, what?????? Tuna was very bland, rice tasted like vinegar all the way. There's nothing they do to "dress" it up make it look nice. A hyper clean style environment where many of the decor was out of an IKEA catalogue. The portions were undersized for the price. For bistro style, perfect, a quick good bite to eat. I've eaten in Bistros in multiple cities and price wise this one comes close to New York, not a complement. The staff is what bothered me the most. The host at the desk was so kind, he did more than just find us a seat and that is always worth mentioning. Our waitress and the wator who helped her were quite rude. I was asking about a dietary restriction and she very quickly cut me off and pushed me saying the salad is always a safe bet. For someone with my restriction this is very obvious. I wanted to love Blossoms Asian Bistro. I was so excited to find an Asian restaurant in the middle of the tri cities area/Michigan. The first few takeout items (hibachi, rolls, tacos) I've had from Blossoms were "good". Not great, but good. I dined in with my colleagues one night and we all ordered udon. The udon was very Americanized and the poached egg was incredibly overcooked.The broth was luke warm and simply lacked the flavor of a traditional Japanese udon. When speaking about the udon, our waitress said "sorry, our cooks are Mexican". For dessert, we were served old, expired mochi. Fresh mochi is supposed to be soft and bitable, however this mochi was hard, dense, and had clearly been in the freezer for a very long time. When I brought this to the attention of our waitress, she did nothing to resolve the issue. The price of the dessert was also on the high end for what it was - $6 for expired mochi with a scoop of Thrifty ice cream in the middle. At retail value, a box of mochi costs $4. This restaurant is a solid 3.5 stars. The tacos and hibachi are pretty good, but I wouldn't order the udon again. read more

Listen. I've eaten at many an oriental joint. One might consider me a professional at this type of thing. At least I do. Now when I'm sitting down for a nice meal with my wife, dreaming about the endless amount of Coors I'm going to drink afterward I think it's important that we dial back the pretension. The spring rolls are frozen as is the chicken, which is fine with me, I drink Coors. My wife asked for a side of ranch to go with her meal and the waitress brought over an entire salad claiming she'd never heard anyone order a side of "just ranch". Let's cool it. I have ate here several times now over the past few weeks - Its a solid 3.5-4 stars. I am going to round up to 4 here. No this is not a Genji's - don't come in here expecting that - but what it is, is a decent fresh cooked meal with decent quality and flavors. Their egg drop soup is a great comfort item to start a meal with and although there has been some cooking consistency differences depending on the day I was there, overall the lunches I had here were decent. Pros: Decent place for a fresh cooked lunch or dinner. Reasonable prices for fresh cooked food. I can't comment on the sushi, although I do like sushi, I would never order it from a restaurant in Bay City, MI - you can't expect anything above mediocre in that regard. Cons: The only real negative I can come up with (based on my recent visits) is that the amount of vegetables in the fried rice is exceedingly sparse - think like one or two peas or carrots etc. in a whole order. read more
