A few years back in San Diego, the Hobby Lobby there did wonders on my retirement certificate, so choosing to come here in JAX was easy. The gentleman who assisted me was outstanding. Certainly a veteran of the department he works in at the framing area. All I needed were two hooks and a wire threaded through and only $3 later, I had my Resolutions ready to display! I did leave with a nice Hobby Lobby canvas with a biblical message on it, but needed to fix that one in a different manner. It's still waiting to be displayed. After this, I walked around looking at all the crafts, displays, etc and noted that they were getting ready for two things early. One was Autumn as there was a ton of orange color there. Also, I saw that it was beggining to look a lot like Christmas as well! There are plenty of wreaths, decorations, etc. around that will help people get an early Holiday Season start. Also, pay attention to the 40% off signs. I got 60% off the canvas portrait I purchased. It amounted to $6 when all was said and done. Hobby Lobby is a great place to find deals on their arts and crafts. I know I'll be back when I have a desire to purchase more canvas portraits in the days ahead! Recommend: VERY HIGH

I was quoted $200 to treat the leather and repair a single loose seam. Completely reasonable for something this meaningful. What followed was nearly seven months of zero accountability. I was told Nadine would call me to review the repair plan. She never did. Not once. I returned in December and again in February. Each time, I was told it would be handled. Each time, nothing had been done. Not even started. Michael, who was consistently kind and professional, apologized repeatedly and did everything he could on his end. Unfortunately, he was clearly left to manage a situation that was not his responsibility. This failure sits squarely with ownership. After months of waiting, I was eventually told to contact Charlie, the owner. I called multiple times. He was never available. No return calls. No follow-up. No ownership. When I finally returned in person, I was shocked to learn the purse had now been "worked on"--except instead of being repaired, it had been made worse. What was once a single compromised compartment is now a completely unusable bag. Both compartments are affected. No clear explanation was given--only that it "cannot be fixed." After nearly seven months of delays, broken promises, and complete lack of communication, I was handed back a sentimental, irreplaceable item in worse condition than when I left it. I left in tears. This was not just poor customer service--this was careless, dismissive, and completely unacceptable handling of something that was clearly communicated as deeply meaningful. The reality is, they are the only cobbler in town--and they act like it. No urgency, no accountability, and no respect for their customers' belongings. Thank you for ruining something I can never replace.

I'm giving Barnett's Art and Frame Gallery one star because they were, at least, open on a…read moreSaturday. However after looking at their itemized estimate for framing and comparing it to the estimate from the business I wound up leaving my picture at I'm debating taking away that one star. Here's why. Drew @Barnett's gave me a $205.87 estimate for replacing the outer wooden frame for a 38 x 29 inch picture. No matting, no glass, two week turnaround. I then took the picture to Mr. Frame It (on University Blvd) for another estimate (always a good idea , people: second, even third estimates) and got an estimate of $145.12 including tax! Same picture with very similar replacement frame and a one week turnaround. Needless to say, Mr. Frame It got my business. (I would've shopped around for a third estimate, but didn't want to risk doing damage to the picture's glass.) Upon returning to my car I then looked closely at the estimate from Barnett's which I'd initially shoved into my pocket. He charged $144.72 for materials, $24.41 for labor....so far more expensive than Mr. Frame It, but okay. THEN, an additional $22.38 for "SPECIAL LABOR"??? Yup! You can see it yourself....I've attached the written evidence. So, to Drew @ Barnett's Art and Frame Gallery, SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

When I picked up my framing it was like WOW. It far exceeded my expectations. And as far as price go the price was great. It may seem expensive but for the work and quality, it was worth every penny. I got some estimates from some Nationwide stores that do framing, and even with their 50 percent coupon it's was still a lot more expensive then Affordable Framing. Again I can't say enough about the quality work they did.

I've slowly come back into doing cross-stitch and it's been tough to find a local store with supplies, designs, and hand-dyed floss and fabric. There were a few kits at Reddi-Arts prior to their closure, but I haven't found much that isn't, at least, an hour drive away now. While the cross-stitch/embroidery section was a bit smaller than I hoped, I was excited to find some great Satsuma Street designs, some hand-dyed thread, and some different fabrics that were available. I definitely could come by with a floss color key and gather all I need for any project. I didn't get a chance to fully explore the books or even get into where the majority of PV Arts & Crafts fabric is held, but I'm looking forward to my next trip to delve in even more. As I was on my lunch, I didn't have too much time to poke around further into the store, so I'll have to make a return trip when I don't have a time restriction. This is a spot that is much bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside, and everyone would benefit for having some time to explore.
