As I began my search for housing for my friend who would soon be discharged from a skilled nursing facility, I called another senior service, and they recommended I look at assisted living places. I later was referred to Jeff Chapman and, after a quick but detailed discussion about my friend, Jeff advised that a residential care home was what she needed since she was bedridden and needed health care, not social activities. Jeff emailed a list of 6 potential places itemizing key info such as community type, private or shared room or bath, monthly rent, community fee, staff info, health services provided, ambulation capabilities, incontinence needs accepted, etc. During our walkthroughs, he explained my needs to the provider, emphasized key items from his summary and answered my many questions. At a couple of places, the provider even offered a room for a lower price. I initially selected a property but, in our discussions with the owners, they gave differing prices, so I decided on my second choice which is a lovely board and care that my friend very much likes, and I am very happy with the care she is receiving. Jeff and Lindsay Chapman helped me so much through the worst week of my life. I am eternally grateful to them both for all their comfort and assistance. They truly care about their customers and went all out to provide the best arrangements for the help I needed. My wonderful husband, David (married 36 years), had been having treatment for Prostate Cancer on and off for a couple of years. His prognosis still remained hopeful until summer and fall of 2021, when his latest tests showed his cancer had suddenly spread rapidly to his heart, then his spine, then his liver. He started more aggressive treatment. But he was still walking without assistance and functioning well by October 10. Then, suddenly, in the following week he collapsed during radiation treatment, and was hospitalized. That day the doctors told us there was no more treatment that would help him, and Hospice care would be 'appropriate'. But they seemed to indicate that we had at least a month or more left together. We were devastated and so surprised at his rapid deterioration. I desperately contacted Jeff and Lindsay Chapman, of Chapman Senior Solutions. THEY BOTH WERE SO WONDERFUL! They immediately compiled a list of the 3 types of facilities available for 24/7 hospice care - Home, Assisted Living or Residential Home care. They then located and sent me a printout of the 3 best-rated facilities near our Huntington Beach area for each type of service. That day, while David was in the hospital, Jeff arranged appointments with my selected couple of choices that seemed best for David and me. Then Jeff drove up and personally went with me to the Residential Home care choices I had made. We looked at two of the homes, but it turned out that the first one was just what we were looking for - Joy in Life Home, a bright, clean house, caring help, a private bedroom with television, appealing food allowing him to eat small amounts of the fresh fruit he loved for breakfast, along with a little of the protein drinks I brought. Hospice Care brought David there from the hospital. Jeff and Lindsay stayed involved, making sure that the Home care was good. 4 days later, David died.
