I was here with a few friends over the weekend and we enjoyed it! The birria pizza I ordered was so good. I would definitely get it again. We got our food in a decent amount of time. Our server was very friendly. Also a little bit forgetful but that's okay lol. She still did alright and it seemed like she might be a little new. The place was packed so she probably had a lot of tables. All in all we got everything we needed and she was nice, and that's mainly what I grade service on. The parking is plentiful here. The prices are pretty reasonable. Definitely not low but fair. The place had a fun atmosphere. There was karaoke the night we went! My friends and I didn't partake but it was fun to watch. I will say that in the future I hope they turn it down a little bit because I couldn't hear my table talk at times and that was a little frustrating Overall, we were all happy with our food and had a good time here! Ended up having dinner with a girlfriend that wanted chips and salsa. We ended up here. Service: the service was OK. Nothing out of the ordinary she checked up on us very minimal times. But was nice when she did it. Food: the food was straight. For the value, it wasn't bad at all. There was good flavor and most of it but nothing that stood out. My girlfriend also wanted to point out that the chips were very stale. Ambiance: it had to feel of a normal Georgia Mexican restaurant nothing out of the ordinary. Our family loves this place. In 20+ visits, we've only had one bad experience and it had to do with a poor server. The food and atmosphere are always excellent, and this past visit was no exception. My husband and I stopped in the take out food late on a Sunday evening. The place was quiet and there was no one at the bar except for our exceptional bartender Angie. She helped us with our takeout order and gave us our drinks and chips while we waited. She was attentive and did a great job. We got food for 4 people and two drinks for less than $60. This was surprising but a welcome blessing on vacation. There is plenty of parking as this is in a strip mall. Both outdoor and indoor bar or dining room seating. I was in the Lawrenceville area and was in the mood for Mexican food so checked out Yelp and decided to go to El Real Mexican Grill. They have two locations, one in Lawrenceville and another in Bethlehem. The Lawrenceville location is in a shopping plaza so there's ample free parking. They also have patio dining. They serve Mexican cuisine and have a full menu and also a bar. As soon as i entered, the hostess immediately greeted us with a smile and walked us to a table. Our waitress came over a few minutes later to take our drink order and introduce herself. I decided on a small order of guacamole with everything and the camerones rancheros entree. This entree included grilled shrimp cooked in a special aztec sauce with onions served with a side of rice, plantains, and avocado slices. I loved the plantains, the shrimp were ok, the sauce didn't have a flavor that I enjoyed, it was missing spiciness. The guacamole was ok but I wasn't a fan of the cheese chunks. Overall, I just thought the food was okay. The service was excellent though, from the hostess to the waitress. read more

Honestly, idk why o hasn't posted a review. My brother loves about a mile away from here and we have been loyal customers since 2015, it is also next to Kroger so it's convenient to come and do your groceries before or after you get some bomb ass food. The margaritas are also pretty strong and not too citrusy, for those who suffer from heartburn like myself. Having moved to Florida a year ago, I cannot stress enough how good these tacos are. After not coming here for many years, we decided to go back. They definitely deserve another review based on the simple fact that they've stayed in business for so long. It was much better than my previous experiences! The menu has been updated, still large, but it's arranged much better. It felt super clean. Although it was a bit chilly, I enjoyed sitting in front of the big windows. Highly recommend one of those tables, excellent for people-watching! The service was friendly and checked on us often, but not overdoing it. The salsa is on the thin side, not in a bad way. Just a mention. The chips tasted fresh. I ordered the Enchiladas Mexicanas - as a way to taste a little bit of everything - since it comes with one ground beef, one chicken, and one cheese enchilada. Plus a red sauce, a green sauce, cheese, rice, and a salad. I enjoyed all of it. I do wish the sauces had a little more heat. My husband got the special of the day, Birria tacos. They came with an amazing dipping sauce, and fried cheese inside. We will definitely come back! Also, the beer prices are still great. I found myself in the Kroger parking lot off of GA20 at Ridge Rd In lawrenceville needing to find a place for lunch. I had been to El Real years ago with friends but it wasn't close enough to be in my regular rotation of places to eat. I'm SO glad I stopped in. The menu was more diverse than most Mexican restaurants and the food was fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient. I had the Chile Poblanos Rellenos with Beef and savored every bite.This is now at the top of my list for Mexican food, even if it is a few miles farther away. read more

I was starving after spending all day and afternoon in meetings without a single bite to eat, so I stopped here on my way home, about 3pm. The salsa was great. The chips were good. The rice and beans, fairly typical but flavored well. The carnitas, while good, were not served as I typically expect. The chunks were huge, and tender. But they weren't crisped up on a grill before being served, so they were missing an essential Je ne sais quoi. (Typically the slow roasted pork is chopped into small, bite friendly pieces. Then, just before serving, they are tossed on a searing grill to crisp them up beautifully and bring out the flavors.) Overall, good meal. Good enough that despite them not serving carnitas the traditional way, I'd go back, and maybe try something different. (Usually if the carnitas aren't right, I won't go back.) read more

Great for families. Went there with a group of friends and kids. Service was wonderful, food was excellent, restrooms were super clean, live music( Saturday night) and very fair priced. The only part that fell short on my opinion, was the margarita. It was made with a mixer that was way too sweet. Every seat in the place was full and that is a good sign if you are looking for a new place to try. The locals all accept it. They brought me beef instead of chicken so they gave me a free 32oz draft beer and I was happy all over again. El Real is my favorite local restaurant and we have been going there regularly since they opened. So many menu options to choose from. The Molcajetes Real is probably my favorite dish. Some of my other top choices are the 3 Way Dip & Queso Real appetizers, Fish Tacos, Chicken Soup, Fajitas Real, Camarones Real, and the Special Rice that was recently added to the menu. I love Mexican food, but I come here for the Guacamole!! It's hands down my favorite guacamole aside from my own. It's handmade to order, chunky, and has chunks of cheese in it. Wow. This is the best Mexican spot I've ever been. We had always wanted to check it out and one day I happened to be starving and it didnt look parked. It was around noon on a Saturday to give you an idea. We started with the chips and salsa of course and the salsa was ok then we ordered the 32 oz Margarita to share. It was really good and didnt have that fake, bitter taste most have. I ordered the Santos Fillet and my DH ordered the Chicken Chimichanga. The Fillet was amazing! Fish was nicely grilled and veggies were crisp. The chipotle cream sauce on the meal went great with everything. We will definitely return. read more
