My wife and I came to visit for our weekly date night. El Ranchero sends out coupons in the mail, so we decided to try it out. The Service: The service was pretty good. The waiter was nice, but it felt liKe he forgot about us after we told him we needed a few moments to look at the menu. I expected no more than 5, yet he was gone for about 15-20 minutes. I honestly thought he had left. Eventually, I got up to find him & ended up running into him. Again, he was nice, I'm guessing he lost track of time. The Atmosphere: Your typical Mexican restaurant. They also had televisions all over to watch games. They also have a bar, and the night we went, there was a live guitarist playing classic 80's rock. The Food: There is sooooooo much on this menu. My wife and I continued to be amazed at how many food options there were. Eventually, we settled for the Texas Fajitas ($24.99 for 2). It comes with all the toppings of lettuce, pico, guacamole, with a side of rice. You also have a choice of flour or corn tortillas. This was REALLY good. I highly recommend. This place gets all the stars simply for their Guacamole! I mean everything else was amazing also but I haven't had guac this fresh & tasty since my trip to Cancun! Came here for take-out mainly for my wife, one of a few places she can eat at. (food allergies) Ordered 8 tacos 4 chicken for her and 4 steak for me. Hers is chicken and cheese only. Mine I told the lady "I want everything, lettuce, tomato,cheese, pico, & guac". Total was 32.00 which I felt was a bit high. I almost canceled order but I told them to go ahead but I wouldn't do it again. I was not rude but I did let them know I thought it was high. Of course when I got home my tacos had no cheese, lettuce, or tomato. What restaurant makes tacos without those three things? Also no guacamole. My Sweetie and I had an early dinner, 4:30pm. We were seated right away, chips & salsa on the table, service was fast and hot. I went for a to-go order, waited a few minutes at the bar to order a margarita, typical sugary mix that's a little sour, but at $4.25, fair price and to be expected. They had live music and the bar was lively, which is probably why it took a while to get served. I ordered the pollo San... something. It's yummy. Chicken breast with rice, veggies and with some yummy cheese. The fried beans that came with it are spicy and I love it. By the time I finished with my margarita and paid, my food was ready. The best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. We have just recently moved to the Loganville area from South Georgia. My family loves Mexican and was worried about finding a place my whole family would enjoy as we were accustomed to our daily Mexican restaurant at home. We were promptly greeted and seated. The restaurant is very nice atmosphere with love music on one side and normally seating area on the other. Our waitress was quick and courteous. Our food was brought out and it was the best tasting Mexican food that the family and I have eaten. El Ranchero in Snellville is located right next to the seafood restaurant Ocean Breeze. I started thinking about some of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Snellville area, and this place immediately came to mind. Unfortunately El Ranchero plays second fiddle to the immensely popular local restaurant chain known as Frontera, who probably takes away most of their business; however, I have decided to address some of the reasons why I think El Ranchero is a far better place to satisfy your craving for Mexican food. The inside of the restaurant is on the small side, but there are many qualities at El ranchero that make up for the lack of space. The fajitas at El Ranchero are outstanding. I try to order the Chicken and Beef Fajita combo almost every time I am at the restaurant. I don't know what is about the side of frijoles that comes with the Fajita dinner, but they are the best that I have ever tasted, so I usually mix them in with my tortillas. Also, the Fajitas here are less expensive than any other Mexican restaurant that I have ever visited. The margaritas at El Ranchero are another reason you should consider dining here instead of other Mexican restaurants. They are some of the tastiest margaritas that I have ever had, and they are probably the strongest too. I was here one time with a date and we ordered an pitcher of their Texas margaritas that was nearly impossible to finish. It was one of the largest and strongest margarita pitchers that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. The wait staff here is great also. They actually have a paging system available at each table that allows the customers to hit a button that alerts the waiter of your tables need for another round of margaritas. Just make sure you don't go over board with the whole paging thing, unless you want the waiter to talk smack about you to his co-workers in this secret language they refer to as "Espanol." read more

Been a regular at the 78 location for about 3-4 years now. I visit with off and on frequency but the quality of the food and the service is always spectacular. On a first name hug giving basis with two of the seasoned waiters and seen some of my favorites move on from the establishment. El Ranchero is THE spot for quality Mexican cooking in the loganville area despite the poor ratings some people give them here. Though I will admit the live music on Wednesday-Saturday is tuned far too loud for the mediocre quality of the musician in question and the small space allotted. I would love to come in on Thursday with great frequency but wind up going to alternate restaurants because the volume of those amplifiers is too much for the small space of the bar area. I wouldn't mind his terrible singing if they turned the volume down just 25% on him so you could hold a conversation with people at your table. People's complaints about this ARE warranted. If you intend to sit in the bar area Wednesday-Saturday evenings around 7:00PM be prepared and I hope you're into timeless classic Phil Collins and others being ruined by a wailing drunkard that can't help but yell expletives into the microphone to rile up the gaggle of drunken women that follow him to his gigs. That being said I still give this establishment a 5-star. Terrible music for most of the evenings in the week aside the restaurant is superior quality. I love every plate they bring out and set in front of me and have had 90% of the menu to date. Personal favorites are their burro de la roqueta, and tacos del mar. Never had a bad plate of food, and their alcohol is fairly priced. (Apart from margaritas, but it's fair practice to mark those up pretty high so you can charge less for beer at mexican restaurants) Everyone I've ever taken here always wants to return frequently. read more

I am a fan of their food, but service really stinks...especially when I've gone on days when they aren't busy. I typically sit at the bar and they don't tend to come back and check on their customers. I literally sat there anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes at the bar with another gentleman and no one checked on us. I literally had to flag someone down. I come to this bar on the regular basis ! I love the bar staff and the food ! The bar is great When they are attentive and ready. But going to the bar before 4pm be prepared to wait on service. They don't check as often as they should. Also the owner seems to not like serving certain people. I have been a long term patron of both El Ranchos' in Loganville because of their convenient locations and in despite of their below average Mexican fare and low quality chips. Most recently I had their "super supreme chicken fajita nachos" and was severely disappointed. For one, they loaded the nachos with iceberg lettuce, which combined with the queso to produce the most disgusting, slimy texture. Secondly, the nachos were light on toppings I expect to receive on super supreme nachos. There were no peppers, no olives, no jalapeños, few beans, and a dab of sour cream and guacamole. Lastly, El Ranchero needs to change their definition of what a fajita is. I expected sautéed onions, peppers and chicken on my fajita style nachos. What I received was grilled chicken with slices of raw onion. On this same occasion the service was very poor, my friends and I will not be back. Very strange place. The restaurant has what appear to be molded booths with all sorts of traditional Mexican scenes, very Disneylandish. They are pretty- I'll give them that- but the booths only cover part of the restaurant. Then there is a huge blank space and beyond that a few tables making use of the banked seating left by the previous restaurant here. Decor should make a nice backdrop to the food and enhance your experience. They failed on both. Chips were good, salsa too. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered chili rellanos that came covered in some sort of bland unappealing cream sauce. I decided the sauce was to counterbalance the chicken stuffing which tasted like someone had knocked a bucket of salt over in it. I really wanted this place to work. Worst experience at a Mexican restaurant ever! We were forced to sit in the bar area because we had 12 people. Our waitress was fantastic. Unfortunately we couldn't hear her, or each other because the absurdly loud music it was terrible. One of the children in our group with anxiety had to go sit in the car with an adult because they were completely overwhelmed by the noise. Also, the "musician" shouted out curse words during the "music" constantly. The manager was rude and condescending when we complained. I do not plan to ever come back. I wanted to like this place, but I didn't. The service was great, the salsa was okay, the food was disgusting. I got the Chiles Poblanos. They're almost impossible to mess up. This place managed it. The peppers were topped with some kind of tasteless orange mess (never mentioned on the menu). I couldn't scrape it off as there seemed to be gallons of the stuff on my plate. Our waitress came with a tray of drinks to the opposite end of the table than she should have & we had to pass drinks all the way down to the other end. She also handed a large cheese dip to my son for him to sit down & it was very hot & she spilled it all over his hand, no apology or anything! Took forever to get our food! Ordered 2 waters when we ordered our drinks & finally got one of them on our way out! We've been eating here for years but I think it's time to try a different Mexican restaurant. read more

My family loves going here. My twins cannot get enough of their rice and beans. Finding a Mexican restaurant that can actually make decent rice is hard to come by. They have a wide range of options to choose from, some more traditional than others. They have always been willing to change items for us or the kids. The service sometimes could improve but it's not always easy to find good servers. read more

I hate to write a bad review because the service and food was okay, but I was a little off-put by the extra charges on my lunch today. I ordered a small queso and 2 soft chicken tacos a la carte. I wanted only onion and cilantro on the tacos (not the lettuce and cheese it usually comes with) and a side of sour cream. Each taco should have been $2.25 a piece and what I was thinking, maybe $1 for sour cream. When I got my bill, I was alarmed that the two tacos were actually $8!!! They literally charged me for cilantro/onion and sour cream!! Of coarse like I said I always know I will pay extra for sour cream, but to charge double the price I was thinking because of onion and cilantro is just CRAAZY!! Now, the main reason why I wanted to Mexican for lunch, is because its cheap and fast. If I would have know that the $8 lunch I was prepared for was actually $13 I would have NEVER went to this place!!! I wish I would have had a different server, then maybe this whole thing would not have happened.
