Chappie's was a good find for us. It's a small, cozy restaurant in a shopping plaza that's popular among the locals. The menu, pricing, service, and of course, the food, were good. Chappie's was a random pick for us to go have brunch at while we were in the Palatine area. Chappie's had been on my list of brunch restaurants to check out. When we got to the restaurant it was peak lunch time and the restaurant was almost 3/4 full. We got seated promptly. We took our time to look at their menu and decide as they had a good menu variety. We ordered drinks in the meantime. I got a regular coffee and a Chappieccino (cappuccino w/ Chappie's face, Chappie being their family dog, a Corgie). We ordered a Bacado Omelet w/ a side of pumpkin spice pancakes instead of regular pancakes and hashbrowns, a Huevos Rancheros, and a special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 Sausage links (instead of bacon). I had the Bacado Omelet which had bacon, avocado, scallions, cheese, and I asked for chopped jalapeños which did not have an up charge. The omelet was good. I liked the way it was cooked. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were exactly the way I like them, crispy and soft. They also have me a fried green chili pepper (Chile Toreado) on the side which added a nice spicy taste. The specialty pumpkin spice pancakes with pumpkin puree whipped cream was really delicious. I loved its taste. The Huevos Rancheros was the best dish at the table. It was perfectly cooked with two fried corn tortillas, eggs over easy, fried beans, red salsa, and cheese. It tasted great. I liked it more than my dish. The special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 sausage links was tasty as well. We had a good experience and would go back. Definitely recommended. Check it out. read more

Going out with a friend is really really special to me because I don't have time to with family obligations. I had breakfast scheduled here with a friend I was so excited to see and picked this place over others because the reviews looked great and the tres leches pancakes looked amazing! The menu looked cute too with a corgi theme! Our server just didn't seem like she cared about us. She forgot our drinks which I didn't mind since I was happy to be out. We waited 30 minutes and she then came over to tell us that our orders got lost. Like they were never put in. She also didn't offer to make it right even though the kitchen was not very busy. Chappie's Cafe is located in a strip mall. We went here because we had a dog with us, and they welcomed the dog, as we sat outside. The indoor dining area was slightly small. I would estimate perhaps 5 or so families can sit in there. The two waitresses were SUPER nice and friendly, and really made our experience fantastic. My friend got the corn beef and hash, which had corned beef mixed with shredded hash browns served with 2 eggs any style and a side of toast or pancakes. He said the dish was fantastic. My other friend already had breakfast and just ordered a fruit cup. Let me tell ya, most places give you the trash fruit, like cantaloupe and honeydew. I'm a fan of honeydew, but these melons are cheap, and most places give you them because of so. Not here. The fruit cup had pineapples, blueberries and even cherries. A very good fruit cup! I ordered the Chappie Chx Sandwich which consisted of a crispy chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato jam, melted cheese, and chipotle mayo on brioche bun. It was really good. After hearing recommendations from friends, we tried Chappie's Cafe. We arrived for brunch with relatives at 11 AM on a Saturday and there were plenty of seats. They have two tables for four on the sidewalk, so we took those. Inside, Chappie's is unassuming and not pretentious. The decor is spare and very nice. They offer a number of tables and several were taken, mainly by young families. Sitting outdoors was nice. The day was pleasant and not too sunny so just perfect. We were greeted by Ricardo, a waiter who was very good at his job. We ordered a variety of breakfast items: (1) I had the Short L-eggs, two over easy with hash browns and link sausages. Others had (2) a Denver Omelette, (3) a Veggie Omelet with Pancakes, (4) a traditional egg's Benedict, and (5) an Avocado Toast. Each of us also had coffee. I need to mention their coffee. I didn't ask what type of beans they used as I tend to be snobby about coffee. Whatever it was - it was very good. I think there may have been Chicory in it. Often, I don't order coffee in restaurants because I don't like their blends. This was a great exception to other experiences. As for the rest, my meal was great. Some thought there was just too much food. From where I sat, I agree their portions are generous. I would much rather have too much than too little. Again, kudos to Ricardo for helping make this a good experience. We had all of their outdoor seating but were never made to feel we were in a rush. Definitely worth trying if you haven't been there yet. And, we will certainly be back. read more

Met a friend for brunch here last weekend and it was really tasty! We had great service, but we did have to ask for the check (we were chatting, so it was okay overall.) There are never enough good breakfast places in Palatine, in my opinion, and this is one of the best! This little cafe is small but features contemporary decor. The staff are gracious and attentive and the mood is comfortable, calm and relaxing. We had berry crepes and eggs Benedict which were fresh, inviting and well prepared. This is a very small but wonderful cafe. It serves delicious breakfasts and lunches. I really emphasize that it's a small location so you might have to wait for a table. But it's totally worth it. I've had the Nutella crepes, the spicy burger, their chicken sandwich special, and the montecristo sandwich, and they've all been great! Their smoothies are also very fresh and flavorful. The owner is always around and the staff is friendly and polite. It's always very clean and bright and the whole place just makes me feel cheerful and content. Chappie's Café is a decent place to stop by for a quick bite. The food is decent. It is not a wow experience. We had the avocado toast which was good, the turkey sandwich which was a bit dry and the crepes Nutella was good but the chocolate syrup drizzle on top was unnecessary. I was disappointed that their fruit juices are not freshly squeezed. I think that's necessary in a breakfast/ brunch place. They had smoothies which unfortunately had these whey proteins and they which gives smoothies this unnatural taste. You can have that as an option but not in all your smoothies. read more

My girlfriends and I got together for brunch for the holiday and we were so glad we chose to check out Chappie's! Being a corgi lover, this restaurant was already winning me over being named after the owner's corgi, but their food was amazing along with the very friendly staff. I will be going here again. I'm very picky on breakfast food. Used to eating at places like Wildberry. I am not a fan of Red Apple, places like that. Why the 4 stars and not 5? The toast and the mocha, read below. Breakfast is one of those where -everything- needs to be good right down to the little things / sides. I included pics of what I had today (omelet and hashbrowns). The hashbrowns which I asked for well done were definitely well done and were really good (not dry like some places). Omelet was also very good (also not dry like some places), eggs had good taste, and it had a good amount of toppings added. I ordered the Western Omelet and replaced Ham with Bacon and added extra cheese. So I'll be going here again for sure...just for those two things if anything. I also know that I won't have to worry about long lines if I need a quick breakfast compared to Wildberry. And this place is open 2 hours later than Wildberry. So convenience is also a variable here. I had a mocha. Not great. Literally threw it in the trash. The problem: They use fake (or whatever it is, it's just not good stuff) chocolate syrup which made it taste absolutely horrible, so definitely not happy with it. Also too much syrup. They need to change that up. If they had given the espresso the respect it deserved and not ruined it with crappy syrup and added good syrup to complement it, it would be good. The coffee beans seem to be ok so probably fine for a latte (I'm picky on beans as well), but I can't tell when this horrible chocolate syrup took over my pallet for this mocha. They need to use real chocolate syrup. So LISTEN UP OWNERS, people are picky about espresso drinks, here's my suggestion, I urge you to take it, it'll definitely help your status and reviews: Use REAL Ghirardelli chocolate syrup (not Torani, not Monin) for mochas. Monin (not Torani, that syrup is gross) syrups for everything else. Yes more expensive for those two, but you should be able to handle that, it's not THAT much more. The only other meh was the toast. And if you ask me toast is very important and It dampers my breakfast when it's not good. It tasted bland, not crispy, not thick enough. So they need to up their game on the toast. It's one of my biggest complaints about Red Apple, as their toast is even worse, tastes like cardboard. If I see that you improve the toast and syrups, I'll revisit and increase this to 5 stars in the future. In this industry, you have to differentiate yourself. Doing those two things will get you into that direction when there are several breakfast places (competitors) in this area read more

Sis ordered chicken and waffles, piece of chicken was dry and small, like something you'd get on a McDonald's chicken sandwich. also she only got 3/4 of her waffle. the last 1/4 of the waffle wasn't included. really?
