Well, while many other fellow Yelpers may have had good dinning experiences here, I am afraid I have to say its just not the case for us. We came by here for a quick bite before heading to The Mack House for some drinks, and we probably should have gone to some place else instead. Highlights - the girl working on the register taking our order. Since this was our first visit, we weren't familiar with the menu items. She patiently explained the menu and took our orders. The same goes to the girl who took our payment. Low lights - the folks working on the grills. Obviously you can't get your food right away if it was cook to order. But they need to have someone who is a little bit organized on which orders came first and what was in that order. Not only they screwed up our orders, and gave my food to someone behind us, (with no apologies by the way), they didn't even get my order right. Even more low lights - the food was unimpressive. The burgers had no flavors, the beef patty was thin, and there is no way that was 1/3lb before it was cooked. The Big Dog tasted no better than the ones I got from 7-11. I even added more toppings: bacon and chili. The bacon looked fatty and pathetic. It was supposed to be crispy but it was soft and greasy. The chili only had beans and no ground beef. At $0.80 per sides, it was totally a rip off. Will we come back again? Absolutely not! Food was horrible, not to mention the attitude. Opened the chili to find I was given a bowl of oil and it looks like diarrhea. Called and spoke with the so called manager Rick. Wow, after driving up and waiting for my meal we were completely in disbelief how bad the order was. We ordered medium well and bother burgers were way over done. The fries were cold and tasteless. Extremely rude service! Lady taking drive thru order was short and rude with every response. Food was missing, they asked for the bags and I was eating fries in backseat and he asked well what's she eating in the back seat lol and asked for my fries , took the food bags and went away from sight, came back and told us the missing food was under a burger. Char Hut with its few south Florida locations was a go to for grilled burgers for me many years ago, but with so many burger joints, pubs top quality chains opening I neglected coming back here so it is time to give it a recent review. Keeping it simple in this order wait until its ready then they add your condiments on your sandwich or entry of choice. Fountain drinks are available as well as some bottled drinks. Kept it simple Char Burger with minimal toppings in order to really taste the burger. Let me just say I was very disappointed at this burger after all this wait. They are drying it out and squeezing every amount of juice from the burger on the grill. Flavor is decent but it is thinned out and not what you are expecting. Obviously, top-quality meat but they have lost their direction along the way. Fries were simply OK while the onion ring strings were outstanding. 3 Stars is all I can muster but it was a struggle to get there. Better places out there now. read more

First time at this location and by far it is the best one yet. The food and service are better than the rest! The food preparers and attendants are super nice and it's obvious they are not only more experienced, but they bring their A-game into what they do. The place was kept clean, despite the lunch rush! On this particular day, we were celebrating team spirit at my office, so instead of wearing our regular logo uniforms, they allowed us to represent our favorite sports team for the day. Taking the day to heart, I wanted to eat a ballpark dog, fries and a soda! So the thought immediately came to mind to run to Char-Hut! I was not disappointed in any way. Hit or miss! Char-Hut used to be one of our favorite places because of the cook to order chicken sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and burgers. I don't want to give up but the fries both plain and sweet potato taste terrible. No matter what time of day you most request well done fries just to have a gold brown fries. The reason it get 3 stars is because the burgers and chicken sandwiches with grilled onions and all your favorite toppings never disappoints! I am a fan! You see, I'm a sucker for a good burger and this was great. The place is casual - real casual, borderline fast food. Except all the burgers seem to be made to order. They even ask you what doneness you want it - I dig that. The burgers are cooked on a grill and you can really taste it when you take a bite. I love that char flavor. You can stack it with toppings and I even got extra pickles which they didn't mind giving me on the side. I got lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, ketchup, onion and pickles. It was stacked....and delicious. The bread tasted fresh.. The toppings were fresh. The fries were nothing out a of this world but they got the job done. They were good...just not amazing. Oh yea, I am a sucker for fries too. Ok I'm a sucker for all food.... I give kudos to the staff who had to deal with one of the rudest,tackiest people I have ever seen. We got the chicken sandwich with white American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and honey mustard sauce. The honey mustard sauce is amazing, I'm not sure if it's homemade, if it is they should sell it by the gallon because you can eat it with anything, it was nice and creamy and super sweet. The chicken breast was butterflied and cooked very well, it was juicy and flavorful. We also ordered the onion rings and french fries, those were probably the biggest let down, the onion rings were really oily and not very crunchy like I prefer and the french fries tasted like a normal fast food fry. This place is a step above a fast food restaurant, but the theme and normality of the sides make it a low grade quick serve, definitely a go to place if your short on time. read more

I'm a big fan of Char Hut! Like really big. It's my go-to place for high quality fast-ish food. I particularly like this location for the quality of their food and their friendly service. My favorites are the char-burger cheeseburger and the marinated grilled chicken sandwich with cheese. I think about this chicken sandwich ALL THE TIME. It's sad, I know. Char Hut's meals are always grilled fresh to order right in front of you. I love that. You place your order, they pull the beef patty or chicken breast out of the cooler and slap it on the gas grill. It's like a well oiled assembly line from order, to grill, to toppings/assembly. Don't forget the frings onion rings/fries combo for your side dish! Food that's fast but far from fast food = CHAR HUT This place is great in so many ways. All the food is cooked to order and grilled right in front of you. Both the chicken sandwich and burgers are some of the best I've ever had. Once you finally come to a decision about which one to get (or you can get the "Jack Stack" that has one of each), you then get to decide what you want on top of it. They have a huge selection of condiments and toppings to choose from. The fries and onion rings are flawless and always nice an hot. They also have veggie burgers and a variety of kids meals. All this and more can be yours for the low price of....LESS THAN $10. A fresh, delicious sandwich, fries/onion rings and a drink for about 9 bucks. AND THEY HAVE A DRIVE THRU. I had to come here out of curiosity. My Florida family just raves about this place, so I had to see what all the fuss was about. I love being able to order online and pick up through the drive-thru. Today was my third visit here, and got a single bacon and cheese charburger. This burger is better than the one I had on my first visit. Just seemed to have more flavor and they cooked it medium rare like I prefer. My second visit I had the chili cheese dog and it was pretty good also, but I wasn't craving it again anytime soon. Today, I think the A team was on, because everything was great today. All three visits I have had the onion rings. They mostly look like tiny onion strips, but oh man, are they addictive. I was lucky today, because they had more actual rings in this batch. I have to confess, I never can make it back to my office without getting crumbs all over me because I can't help but reach into the bag and pop those little strips into my mouth. They are just piping hot and incredibly delicious when they are fresh. They do have a variety of sides on sandwich choices. I haven't worked up the courage to try the sausage sandwich, although it does look intriguing. Hubby swears by it. So if you like Italian Sausage, they have those as well. I recommend checking their menu online before heading over there. You can familiarize yourself with all their options, and decide if you want to pick up or eat in. The restaurant itself isn't too bad. I did go inside on my first visit and it had plenty of seating. As I mentioned, you can order online and pick it up in the drive thru. Really good and super friendly staff! I wanted a really good chill-dog and they did not disappoint! They have mini-meals which are the perfect size for anyone and you have like 6 options you can't go wrong with. There are also so many toppings to choose from. They don't have a poppy-seed (Chicago style bun) for hot dogs, that's the only thing I'd change. I didn't try the milkshakes but they do look good too. Also, yelp says they close at 11pm on Fridays & Saturdays, they close at 10pm actually. Pretty simple and pretty good. I'll be back! read more

Char Hut is a South Florida ONLY pleasure, and the quality tastes un-mass produced! My parents first brought me to Char Hut as a kid & it was all about the hot dog. Now-a-days, I insist on ordering the grilled chicken sandwich every single time without deviation. I keep wanting to try other items like the gyro but I always end up ordering the chicken sandwich combo with jalapenos and the fries with lots of malt vinegar. For $8 you get a real breast of chicken cooked to order with options to top cheese and/or bacon with your choice of different breads. You can even order a draft beer at their Sunrise location! There are a few locations throughout Broward and is a must-do if you are passing by any of them around lunchtime. Since they make your food to order, you will have to wait for it to be cooked but is well worth the wait since the ingredients are real and fresh. I haven't tried their catering but I think I will recommend this for our next office group lunch. I've always had great service and will be at one of the West Broward locations again soon! read more

Burger was prepared just as I asked. And the cooked mushrooms and cooked onions were a great addition to the juicy burger. Food is spot on!! I am fully aware things are tough now but same way we try and support local restaurants, they should do their best to and make customers happy. Char Hut is almost as old as I am and by God if I came to this place in 1976 I would be blown away. This place was WAY ahead of it's time with flame-grilled, cooked to order burgers and at a customer's tempearture and non fries sides available. The food here does stand the test of time. Oh the advice of many yelpers I had the Double bacon charburger with cheese, shrooms, onions, and BBQ sauce on a poppy bun. This burger was HUGE and definitely a good deal for the price. Overall it was pretty tasty although I didn't feel as if the meat quality wasn't as good as a Shake Shack. Still absolutely blows away any fast food place and I'd say is probably better than Five Guys. After my great burger I was super excited by what I thought was the holy grail of side dishes - Chili Cheese Mac! Being a huge Chili fanatic and also a Mac & Cheese lover I was probably more excited for this than the burger. Unfortunately it was far from the best side I have ever had, actually it might have been the WORST. First the mac was COLD and not really a "mac and cheese" It is basically macaroni with a cheese sauce on top. Then they put some chili on top of that which is just OK. The mixture of the three is pretty disgusting to be honest...i shudder thinking about it. Other than the burger this place needs a huge upgrade. The interior looks like it is from 1976 and there is a huge layer of dust on the menus above the kitchen (gross). Also Char Hut wins the award for the most awkward queue in the restaurant business. A guy in the middle takes your order, you make a line and then hand the order to a cashier and pay. Then you make another line to wait for your food to be cooked. If you ordered a drink the fountain machine is a the end of the second line so you have to wiggle around everyone waiting for their food to make a drink and then make your way back to your place.
