ChargePoint is everywhere in the Bay Area, and that's unfortunate. My company uses them for their on-site chargers to manage the queuing system, and it has more bugs than a bait store. The charging stations appear to have flakey cellular connections that are often out of sync with the back-end systems. Frequently, they'll just stop charging, and then you find yourself kicked out of the queue with no hope of getting another charger by the end of the day. I'm glad I have a long-range vehicle, but I feel for the poor folks who count on getting that charge to get home. But, honestly, all the software bugs don't even compare to how neutered the support department is in their ability to do anything corrective. If you report a software bug, they'll "pass it along to the station owner" (i.e., support doesn't actually read your message). Today, I broke down and actually called someone when my station stopped charging after about ten minutes. She was "diagnosing" my problem before I even told her what station I was at (i.e., reading from a script). And when she finally did look up where I was, saw charging had stopped and I'd been kicked out of the queue, the best she could say was, "sorry, we know the software has issues." When I said, "yeah, and I've reported them multiple times," she said, "oh, that's tech support. I'm driver support." As for getting me back in the queue? Nope. Driver "support" doesn't really do much more than offer a shoulder to cry on. I have no idea what ChargePoint actually supports aside from its bottom line. My wife recently went to charge her car at a ChargePoint station--stations she's used numerous times in past--but the station wasn't Initiating a charging session this time. She called support and they walked her through trying different things, none of which worked, and she gave up, frustrated. Two days later, TEN duplicate $50 ChargePoint charges hit our checking account. We are working to have them refund that money, which they appear to be in no hurry to do. I should read the reviews first. Same common issues. 1. Worked well until issues with the Wi-Fi connection and charging. Called customer service and spoke for an hour. no solution and escalated to the 2nd review team. Waited for 3 weeks now, but no one returns my call. I sent emails and replies saying to wait. 2. I asked to replace or return. No contact. Yesterday, I reported to BBB, and they sent a notice to the company. However, I doubt they will respond, as I do not think they care about reviews and a bad reputation. ChargePoint has a crooked way of doing its auto-reload. ChargePoint will auto-reload your credit card based on an estimation of your usage, i.e., if you charge one hundred dollars, they will automatically reload another hundred. If you wish to alter your billing from auto-reload to pay-as-you-go, you'll have to wait another month for it to change. Even if you call them, they will not switch your payment plan until the next month, and they do not have a complaint department, according to the phone rep. read more

ChargePoint is a failing company for good reason. Let them fail. Better to give your business to one of their competitors. For example, I have never had a problem with EVConnect or Electrify America. Last time I used a ChargePoint station, the two charging stations at Nouria in Wareham MA were mislabeled. Station 1 has a giant "2" on it and station 2 has a giant "1" on it. It was only after trying to start charging six (6) times that I realized that the tiny numbers on the screens did not match the the huge numbers on the front of the boxes. Then the app informed me it needed to "secure" more money from my debit card, which it apparently did six (6) times for a total of $300 dollars from my bank account. None of my other charging apps "secure" funds prior to service. This is bush league banking stuff from a nonserious business. After being on hold for 20 minutes, the customer service person I talked to was polite but spoke almost no English and of course was unable to help me. It brought tears of joy to my eyes as we constantly asked one another to repeat everything we were saying. I have disputed the charges with my bank, but ChargePoint had no right to take my money in the first place without my consent. Again, ChargePoint is a failing company for good reason. I can be right in front of the station and the app will say No Stations Found. Charging plug stuck in my car and won't come out. You have to restart a session to release it. And that can only be done if the station connects with the app. If you cannot connect with the app you're stuck there, stranded! CS cannot disconnect you!!! Beware, Terrible! read more

I ordered a Charge Poin+ for my new electric car. I was received around 12/10 from their CA warehouse and installed around 12/20/25 by a certified Electrician for $600. Then in plugging in my new car I found the charger DEAD. It was working wit a 50AMP circuit dedicated to the Charger plugged in the 240W plug and found the light off. I have called 5 times with a case and end up being asked more information, picture, verification of purchase. I have had the electrician out twice with pictures and they keep asking for the same information over and over. I am disputing the charge and somehow get a new charger. I do not recommend ChargePoin+! read more

HOME FLEX worked great in the first month, but now it loses the wi-fi connection and fails every charging session. I have to go to the breaker (I am crippled and breaker box in basement, so I drag my butt down a stair at a time), turn off, turn back on, reset the WIFI (access point is 9 inches away in same wall). Half the time, won't connect to the network. When it does connect, the charging session will last anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes. Support is terrible, I entered multiple tickets with no response. can't make a warranty claim because the app won't let you enter the station's MAC address as it does not accept the ":". Wish I had spent the extra $200 and bought the Ford hard-wire charger. I am now stuck with slow charge for the Mustang Mach 3 or paying out the nose for FAST CHARGE. $1800 for the installation of a unit that does not work. Suggest looking past this one. read more

Do Not get a charge Point charger no matter what. My unit stopped working after two weeks, and they DO NOT allow for refunds for their product, only they'll ship you a new one after you do a bunch of stuff, take a bunch of pictures, and pay your electrician to come back and install the new one. And all of this takes 4 weeks or more-so you do without fast charging in the meantime. I'm stuck with them and may have to just eat the cost of the charging unit. Purchased charger on June 26th and didn't install it till the end of August. I was loving my charger until it stopped working this week. I had told my husband that I smelled something burnt but he thought it was coming from outside the garage. Last night he contacted ChargePoint customer service for the 2nd time this week and this rep asked him to remove the cover. We were in total shock with what we discovered. I'm currently waiting for an email regarding a replacement. At this point I'm leery because I'm wondering if our house could have caught on fire. I waited on hold for 1 hour and 21 minutes and then had a 28 minute conversation that offered no help. Our Chargepoint will not connect to WiFi. Instead of offering any guidance, I was told that since the app is not picking up our on our WiFi and my manually searching for the WiFi was unsuccessful, that it must be a hardware issue and I need to replace the unit. Next, we reviewed that the charger is not working. When I plug it in to my car, the unit says "charge unsuccessful." She told me that there was nothing we could do to resolve this. I informed her that the charger was working with no issue a few days ago for our friend's car, and that the previous home owners had it connected to WiFi with no issues just a few weeks ago. She was unable to assist whatsoever and her only solution was to buy an entirely new charger. read more

Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Not that this company needs another 1 star review to convince customers to stay away... June 8: I have no choice but to use their chargers at home as my apt building installed them. I created my account in the app, but it wouldn't connect to the charger assigned to me by the building, so I called customer service. They weren't able to help me so the "escalated" my case to a "supervisor." June 9: Still not resolved, so I call again. Told my case is still with their supervisor. June 10: Get my landlord involved. He calls his contact there and is told they are "working on it." Two weeks later, still no resolution and I still can't use my charger, but I see that my account has been charged $20. I call customer service and ask for a refund. Am told they don't give refunds. July 22: Six weeks after I create my account, I receive an email that my case has been resolved. By this time, I've been charged another $20. I again request a refund, and I am again told they don't give refunds. December 16: I get a new phone and need to manually log into my account, but I can't remember my password so I request a link to reset it. No link arrives. Request a second time. Still no link. December 17: Request link a third time. No link. I call customer service and am told that emails "aren't working" and they will "escalate" my case to a "supervisor" who will call me tomorrow. I tell them I can't take calls during the day and request to speak to someone immediately. They tell me no one is available. Here's the kicker... while I'm still on the phone with them, I receive a ChargePoint MARKETING EMAIL asking me to complete a survey. 1 stars across the board. read more

You better believe I talk departments out of purchasing ChargePoint because of how bad they are with follow up. If I'm repairing them I want reliable parts and customer service. ChargePoint has none of this. All of the reviews you see post mine are all real. I believe them 100%. I'm not surprised that homeowners are dealing with this either. Its not just you, its very large Cities in the Bay Area that just get taken advantage of by ChargePoint. Another company like PG&E that we are forced to deal with. 80% of charge point stations do not work. I've tried four today and three in this airport that do not work. Customer service will spend 20 minutes with you on the phone, standing outside in the freezing or pouring rain, and the system does not work. We have a 2022 VW ID4. At home we have a charger in the garage, but on road trips we are challenged to find a functioning, fast public charger. We have good experience with ChargePoint public chargers. We find they are well maintained and in safe, easily accessible locations. Quite the opposite of the EVgo chargers that are slow and usually don't work. Look for ChargePoint public chargers when you are away from home and need a charge. Target usually has ChargePoint chargers. read more

Manage properties for a corporation. We have these stations at 1 of my properties. DO NOT recommend. While the functioning product is fine (we are having some electrical issues currently), the support staff are out of the country (I believe India) and it seems impossible to get a technician out to service the stations when needed. It has taken about a month of back and forth to try to get one to our site and we still have NOT succeeded. Watch out, they have rolling auto renewal IF you pay the invoice. 6 different people at least so far included in emails and round and round we go. Soooooo painful. I have an Ioniq 5, that is rated to charge from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes. I started my charge at 10% and after returning to my car 15 minutes later it was at 14%, so I decided to change stations to one that had a fast charge nozzle. Once connected, the screen said it would take 53 minutes to get to 80! The fastest it got was 60kW's. I do not recommend, especially if you are on a road trip. read more

When you first open the app it requests a payment method for an auto account credit of $10 every time you plug into charge an EV car. What they never show or even ask for you to agree to is being charged more than $10 (some monthly payment) to fill your account if you use the stations often. They never even ask if this would be option customers want or agree to, they just do it without permission. This company is unlawful by requesting payment not agreed upon by both parties. This is bad business and harmful to customers who count on paying only what they agreed to pay ($10 + accruals of time used, by prices stated at specified stations). This company has bad practices and low morals towards their customers. And customer service is a joke (emails don't work/ bad address, calling is a waste of time, no way to get anything fixed...not even canceling an account). read more

Although the charging station stated it cost $0.00 to use, and the app noted there was no cost, I was charged $10 after charging my care for "electricity", but I was told the "charging was free". Most ridiculous restrictions imaginable. You want to pull up to a charging station on the road and charge? You need to download the app, call SDGE to send you a code, insert the code and maybe 30 minutes later you can charge. If you can get a hold of anyone from SDGE. You can't just scan your credit card and "fuel" up with energy, that is restricted. I couldn't understand the customer service representative but what I got from her was I needed to delete the existing SDGE code, call them and get a new one before I can charge. Their AR/Rewewals team take days to respond with a vague unhelpful response. I highly recommend NOT getting into service with this company. All the negative reviews are accurate. Also, their chatbox is very unhelpful. No way to speak to a live customer service rep; the chat bot simply sends unhelpful links to unhelpful support numbers. It's insane. First issue, before parking at the airport I checked for available charging statons and the app showed several available, both in the garage and outside. So I paid more to park in the garage - and found every ChargePoint station in use. I headed outside for the available stations, only to find all of those in use. Then began the maddening experience with Customer Service. The connection for the first two calls was so bad I couldn't hear the rep. The third call rep either didn't listen or didn't understand English. When I described my experience he kept asking questions like "Are you at the charging station now?"
