What they brought... potato waffle??? Looks like frozen fries from Costco and some dry flavorless wings, ridiculous for $40

I attended a special event with music and poetry where the entrees being served were $40-$45 dollars. I ordered the curry chicken wings and potato waffles, and was given some super dry wings with little flavor over a basket of frozen French fries, looked like they were from Costco. I honestly never send food back or complain at restaurants, because I have worked at many restaurants and understand how difficult the job is and so I'm always very nice and compassionate with staff, but this was outrageous to me to charge $40 for what would probably cost $12 at Wingstop. I spoke to the staff/owner kindly and respectfully asked to change my order saying that this just wasn't what I expected when I ordered it, and they would not allow me to change my order, and said all they could do was give me a couple sides. This just felt very disappointing because my wife had been here before and raved about how good the food was and I feel that a place that seems to understand quality cuisine and service should have known better than to serve something like this for $40 and then refuse to take it back when someone understandably raises complaints.

We been going 2 weeks in a row. Everything has been very delicious. Oxtail is my favorite & my husband likes the red snapper. *ask for pepper sauce it's so good

The facility is clean and has a nice relaxed vibe. I saw they had signs for family night on Wednesday and mimosa evenings every Friday. I ordered shrimp curry, coconut rice, and red beans. The food has a tasty spice and the serving size is generous. The bowl is a 10 dollars lunch special or 12 dollars outside of Lunch special, so 3 large shrimp in the bowl is reasonable and fair. I really liked my meal, one thing I didn't taste the coconut in the rice so maybe go for spinach rice. I recommend 10/10.

Charles Kitchen is one the last family friendly restaurants. Mr. Charles has been here since day 1 and is still holding down the Kitchen. The Food has always been great and I love the new location. Mr. Charles always makes sure to great customers. The Jazz music just brings home a great vibe for me to enjoy some good Caribbean food.

I have heard about this place but haven't been until tonight. I wanted something different and Caribbean fit the mood. I like the way the place is decorated and presents itself. Soon as you walk in it has a bit of a Caribbean vibe to me. The place was very clean looking and well decorated but not too over the top. I was able to look at the menu at the register. The owner waited patiently for me to look and was willing to answer any questions. I opted for the St Lucian Herb Style chicken. I ordered the coconut rice, and I opted for the two premium sides of Caribbean Mac & cheese and fried plantains. I ordered mine to go and was impressed how fast it was ready to go. I got home a few minutes later and tore into my plate. The chicken was cooked nicely and not overdone and dried out. The seasoning was good. The Mac and cheese was regular mac&cheese but with some Caribbean spices added to it. The plantains were good and not too sweet. I however prefer mine a little bit sweeter but they were still good. Now on a side note there was a cup with a brown sauce. I had no idea what it was so I tasted it and wow! I swear I heard The Doors start playing "Baby light my fire" because that sauce was hot! I'm not a very spicy eater. If you like hot stuff then ask him for some of his sauce as I'm sure you will enjoy it. Over all I thought the food was good and it's moderately priced. I will go back and try something else.

This place is great. Definitely the best in the area. The food is excellent, it's clean and friendly, the wait staff is so nice, it has a good sized menu with excellent vegan and vegetarian options. I was only in the area for three days and wish I had discovered it before the second night!

    Curry Goat Bowl (Thur-Sat only)

Wanted to try something different for lunch and decided to give Charles' Kitchen a try. I got the curry goat lunch bowl special. Came with coconut rice and beans. Total cost was $12.10. My to go order came out fast. Was really excited to try this as I had not had curry goat in a minute. Oh and keep in mind, this is not a Jamaican restaurant. It's Easter Caribbean food with influences from Chef Charles's St. Lucia and St. Thomas upbringing. Another thing is their prices on their website for lunch specials is off by 50%. First impression was the goat was prepared well but lacked seasonings and spice. One note flavor. Not the kick I'm used to getting from curry at all. With that said, I'll probably not return.

Very good, well prepared and decent portions. Price was about right with what food is costing now a days. I want to come back for mimosa Fridays!!

Delicious! Charles kitchen has been on my list for some time, and I finally got it delivered. It's now on my favorite list. I ordered stew chicken with black beans, coconut rice, fried plantains, and a side of roti. The meal was so good! It reminded me of my friends cooking in NYC. Everything I got worked well together. Delicious and flavorful.

The food here is plentiful, properly seasoned, and moderately priced. I tried their curry chicken, rice, and chickpeas. I also tried their chicken patty, carrot cake, and sorrel. The food was comforting. My favorite was the sorrel drink - it was refreshing and had a nice ginger kick. They should sell that by the gallon. Their carrot cake was a bit underwhelming but satisfying nonetheless. It would of been better if it had more spices and fillings.

This was somewhat of a hidden gem, but an awesome surprise! Went free-styling with a co-work for lunch. Pulled into the parking lot and check Yelp. Had a solid 4 stars so we went for it. Greeted as we walked in. We walked up to the counter. Scanned the menu and placed/and paid for our orders. Very friendly staff behind the counter. Very laid back atmosphere here as well. Grabbed a booth and our food was brought to us. Very simplified serving vessels with plastic utensils. The food was excellent! I had the Curry Chicken bowl with coconut rice and beans. Associate had the coconut shrimp. Wow! Also the Beef Patties are delicious. We were both very pleased. We will be back! Check them out y'all!

LARGE OXTAIL WITH TWO SIDES -18.99 + $1 for the Mac and cheese upgrade which they don't tell you
    Zena K.

I gotta say I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews, but for the price there are better options. I ordered the large oxtail for $18.99 which came with two sides. I got coconut rice and Mac and cheese (which by the way is an extra dollar, which is fine, but after trying it, i kinda wish it was mentioned that it was extra because it really wasn't anything I'd order again. My total eneded up being 25.99 which I didn't really understand based on the 18.99 menu price. The oxtail itself was very flavorful and delicious although it was super fatty. All the sauce and juices soaked into the rice was making my tongue dance in my mouth!! My problem was meat quality and quantity. I personally don't like a ratio of more fat than meat so I didn't think the quality was there for me. Taste - fantastic but too much fat and not enough meat for a $18.99 price tag. I also assumed I'd get more than 4 pieces of meat. You have the option of a bowl for $10, a small for $15.99 and a large for $18.99. If you only get 4 peices of oxtail in a large for 18.99 then how much do you get for a bowl for only $10. The photos show more than 2 pieces. I feel like it's worth it for the bowl because they give you the same amount, but a large for that price is disappointing. The Mac and cheese was dry and tasted like garlic, which I like but it was just chunks of cold cheese and noodles which was suuuper disappointing especially after someone told me this was the best Mac and cheese in town. The service itself was cool, the owner was very nice and down to earth. I feel like he probably could have been more informative for people who said it was their first time. The model of looking at a menu while at a cashier desk is kind of nerve wrecking for me. But again super nice! While waiting for the food, I did say I wanted alcohol, one of the Caribbean drinks, which he suggested two "beers" which totaled $11. One of the beers was implied to be a beer with ginger flavor. I guess I should have asked what the alcohol percentage was but I thought my request for alcohol was taken as such. The ginger flavored beer was at 0.9% which I found to be super disappointing and a rip off. $11 bucks for a non alcoholic drink and a 4% beer? I haven't been anywhere else to compare but I don't think I'll come back here next time I'm looking for Caribbean food

If you're craving authentic Jamaican cuisine, this is a spot you'll want to keep on your radar. It's a small place but it's very cute. The staff was very friendly as well. From the first bite, everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and true to traditional Jamaican cooking. The oxtails were incredibly tender and packed with rich, savory flavor. The cabbage was perfectly cooked and seasoned just right, and the rice was a standout on its own--you could really taste the coconut milk, which added such a smooth, delicious touch. The curry chicken was another highlight. The meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone, and the flavor was bold without being overwhelming. But the real star of the meal for me was the salmon dish. It completely stole the show. The fish was cooked to perfection--tender, flaky, and full of flavor--and the cream sauce tied everything together beautifully. It was hands down my favorite dish of the night. OH!! I forgot about the coconut cloud cake... OMG!! I should have gotten two or three of them to take home. Even though it's a bit of a drive for me, it's one I'll gladly make again whenever I'm in the mood for amazing Jamaican food. We'll definitely be back sooner rather than later!

When I say the oxtails fall off the bone, I mean that. Flavorful, authentic, and cooked the way it's supposed to be. You can taste the difference. A lot of these other Jamaican restaurants out here are cooking for Americans and think people don't know the real taste. And let's be real--when you have people from other cultures cooking the food, it's hard to call it authentic. I just don't understand how it can be authentic if it's not being cooked by someone from the culture. Now I will say, compared to some other spots, like Karina (paired up with Jamaica House), they did upgrade and got bigger, and I respect that. But even there, you got a lot of Mexicans cooking the food, so it still takes away from the authenticity for me. Overall, I'm giving Jamaica House a solid 3 stars. The food--especially those oxtails--is definitely better than a lot of places out here that deserve zero, one, or no stars at all. If you want real flavor and something close to authentic, this is one of the spots to check out.

The first time I went was last week Wednesday in the afternoon. A very nice young man took my order. When I asked for bake and shark the woman who I assume is the owner came up to the front and told me bake and shark is only available every other Saturday. I asked her if it would be available that coming Saturday and she said no, next week, that coming Saturday would be meat pies. She was nice enough this day. My first visit I ordered doubles, curry chicken and stew beans and buss up shut. The doubles were pretty good, the curry was 2 chicken legs swimming in what was more like a ton of watery broth in which my beans got completely lost. The curry flavors were not very developed. There was no aloo. The roti was the best thing I ordered that day. I did not come that Saturday as instructed but I returned yesterday. Yelp and Google states the business opens at 11:30. I walked up to the door at 12:12 and it was locked. The sign on the door states they open at 12:30 on Saturdays. I sat in my car until 12:40 and went back in. There were already people in line being helped by the same lady from last week. When it was my turn I asked for bake and shark and she told me "next Saturday". WOW. I drove all this way specifically for that. At this point I'm already disappointed so I ask her what she does have. She tells me to "read the board". Then she says she will help someone else and come back to me. When I don't respond she says "HELLO" as if speaking to a child. Thankfully, the lady with the purple hair is nice and professional. When it's my turn to order I order sorrel, pholourie, doubles, curry chicken and spinach and roti. Curry chicken is my favorite so I want to give it another try. With these 2 visits alone I've spent about $70 so far. I get in my car and open the bag with the pholourie to eat on the ride home. They're ice cold greasy and soggy. How? The place just opened and I just walked out! I get home and try the curry chicken. Watery flavorless broth again. No aloo again. This time the chicken is not done. My spinach is drowning in this broth just like the beans because for some reason it's all put into one container with no separation. The doubles are a sloppy mess but edible. Once again the buss up shut is the best part of the whole meal. This was a waste of time, money, and gas. This is not a good representation of Trini food. I don't think I will return here. **UPDATE** I updated my review to one star after this wicked lady replied. This idiotic fool is messaging me over and over about my review! I haven't messaged her back not even one time. She's clearly nuts. Notice she never said anything I wrote was untrue. There's a huge difference between pink chicken (ie: smoked meat) and bloody slimy chicken that's clear in some spots. You are selling food to the public and you think chicken is always pink no matter how long you cook it? WTH?! Sounds like food poisoning and salmonella to me. And please tell me where is the big chicken?? You're serving drumsticks! Secondly, pholourie literally takes 1-2 minutes to fry- why would anyone fry it then let it just sit in a COOLER???? Who's expecting fried dough to be hot for hours?? I expect it to be freshly made when I order it duh! So she's cooking the entire menu all at once and just serving it, cold and raw. Disgusting. The standards and attitude on this woman are both gross. Eat this crap at your own risk.
