I'm giving one star because of the deceptive menu. The small cheesesteak I ordered was listed on the menu as $9.36, but when the cashier rang me up it was $11.27 - practically $2 more! The cashier said there was no way to alter the amount the machine required. Obviously, the price on the menu needs to be exactly the same as what's charged. The food was great but that's expected of cheesecake. Ambiance is always good too but the service here was atrocious! We came here for a quick happy hour and it was not busy at all. Literally more staff than people. We waited forever to order then when you needed anything or a refill, you had to wait 10-15 minutes for the group of employees that were all at the side of the bar just chatting having fun, cracking jokes. It was very annoying. Some people are in a rush and got things to do. What kind of manager on duty allows this behavior to have 4-5 employees all standing next to the bar and laughing and joking about while customers are waiting for their refills and check. We decided we did not want dessert and just to leave because of this bad service. I still left a standard 15% tip even though it was unnecessary. Won't be coming back to this location. I'd wait for a few minutes, and not one person would come out the back. That was really disappointing, and I was super frustrated, especially since there was no sign up explaining what was going on. However, a little while ago they started back up, and they've been better than ever. Not exactly anything to especially applaud, but nowadays, that's all you need: a restaurant doing its job, and doing it well. There have been a few occasions where the staff has particularly impressed me, just in their demeanor and sweetness. But I really recommend Charley's. The sandwiches come in 3 sizes small, regular, large (I think) I had a regular (see picture). If you do a combo you get the choice to upgrade to cheese fries or plain and you get a medium drink. Choices are regular, strawberry or blueberry lemonade, soda or iced tea. The staff was very friendly, food was exactly as ordered; hot, fresh and FAST! They also asked if I'd like mayo, lettuce and tomato on it. We made a good choice selecting this place to eat today. Highly recommend. read more

MAKE SURE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! Went to this place for lunch yesterday, and ordered the Chicken Philly sandwich they had on special. Chicken Philly comes with chicken, cheese, mushrooms, green pepper and onion. When my sandwich was served, it had only chicken, cheese and onion. I asked why the other ingredients weren't on the sandwich, and was told, "We're out of'em." Excuse me? When I placed my order, the person behind the register didn't bother to tell me they were out of some of the ingredients for the sandwich I wanted. Had they done so, I would have changed my order - or gone elsewhere to get something different. So I took the finished sandwich back to the register to let the person know there needed to be some adjustment on the price, to reflect the missing ingredients - or they needed to refund the meal completely, and they could keep the sandwich. The guy said, "Would you like us to re-make it for you?" And I said, "You don't have all the ingredients, so why would I want it re-made the same way I'm complaining about now?" Then he apologized and offered me a coupon for a free sandwich the next time I came in. Absolutely NO concern or interest in the fact that I'd just been charged for something I hadn't gotten - and they shouldn't have offered for sale, if they didn't have everything needed to make it. Nor was I told at the time I ordered, that they were out of key ingredients. At that point, I insisted my order be refunded immediately - and they could keep the sandwich. The guy behind the counter, grudgingly refunded my money. Unbelievable! They would have gladly charged me full price for a meal that they KNEW was incomplete - and didn't think the customer would notice - or if the customer DID notice, wouldn't have the nerve to complain or question it. Seriously? My complaint was NOT about the food. It was about the DECEPTION. When I place an order for something, I expect to get what I ordered. If it's not available the way it's advertised, I expect to be told - NOT charged for something I wasn't getting, in the hope I wouldn't notice! Honestly the only positive thing about this place was their strawberry lemonade, their sampler, & the sample itself.
